The tension in the Veilstone Gym was no longer just about a badge; it was about the sheer, immovable wall that was a Gym Leader's true partner.

In the stands, the silence was broken by the frantic whispering of the apprentices.

"Did you see that? Lucario took that petal storm head-on and didn't even flinch," one junior disciple murmured, his voice trembling. "Is it even possible for a challenger to win against him? I think the match is already over."

"Yeah," the person next to him whispered. "Lucario hasn't moved an inch since the dust settled. Maybe the gap is just too—"

Thwack! Thwack!

The sounds of two swift punches to the back of their heads echoed through the section. The Senior Disciple, a burly man with a permanent scowl, retracted his fists and crossed his arms.

"What are you two babbling about?" he barked. "You've only been at this Dojo for three months, so I'll let your ignorance slide once. Master's Lucario has been his shadow for decades. Even with those weighted locks and suppressed power, he isn't so rookie you can knock over with a few pretty flowers."

"Ow... Senior, you didn't have to hit us that hard!" the first junior complained, rubbing a growing bump on his head.

"Yeah! My ntal cultivation is fine, it's my skull that's hurting!" the other added.

"Hmph. If Master hears you doubting the path of the warrior, you won't be complaining to . You'll be doing extra sparring rounds with his dicham until you can't stand. Now shut up and watch."

Maylene, the red-haired girl in the front row, sighed and shook her head. "Quiet down, you guys. The match is reaching the climax. Stop arguing and focus on the field."

The Senior Disciple nodded respectfully to Maylene—she was, after all, the heir to the Dojo. "Right. I'll deal with these two later."

On the battlefield, the colorful blizzard of petals and leaves finally began to dissipate, drifting to the floor like the aftermath of a parade. As the air cleared, it revealed Lucario. His blue fur was ruffled and dusty, and there were faint scratches on his steel-hard skin, but he stood with the stability of an ancient oak tree.

"Haha! Flashy moves are great for a show, kid, but they lack the 'sting' needed to bring down a fighter!" Aaron's voice bood. "Lucario, show them the weight of a real attack! Aura Sphere!"

Lucario raised his paws, and the air began to hum. A sphere of pure, sapphire-blue light condensed between his claws, vibrating with such intensity that the dust on the floor began to dance.

Julian, however, didn't panic. This was the mont he had been calculating for.

"Now, Floette! Psychic! Aim for the core!"

Floette's eyes glowed with a deep, piercing violet light. Before Lucario could launch the orb, an invisible force gripped the Aura Sphere. Julian wasn't trying to move Lucario; he was targeting the unstable energy the Pokémon was holding.

BOOM!

The Aura Sphere detonated prematurely, right in Lucario's face. The blast was deafening, a shockwave of blue energy rippling outward and obscuring the jackal in a cloud of smoke and sparks.

"Seize the opening! Floette, use Psychic on the fallen petals beneath his feet!" Julian yelled.

"This is bad! Lucario, move!" Aaron shouted, his composure finally breaking.

Floette's eyes lit up again. She didn't look at Lucario; she looked at the debris. The thousands of petals and leaves that had settled on the floor suddenly surged upward like a school of piranhas, fueled by telekinetic force. They swirled into a localized cyclone, battering Lucario from below while he was still reeling from the explosion of his own move.

Julian held his breath. He knew that a direct Psychic attack on a veteran Lucario might be resisted by its sheer willpower and Aura, but using the environnt as a weapon was a different story.

However, even as the "Petal-Psychic" combo hit its mark, Julian's own immature Aura sense felt a cold, sharp prickle. He's still standing, Julian realized with a sinking feeling. That much damage, and his life force hasn't dipped into the red zone?

"Floette, watch out! He's not down! Hit him with Fairy Wind, quickly!"

"Flo-ette?! (You've got to be kidding !)" 🌸

Floette was visibly startled. She had poured a massive amount of ntal energy into that trap. Panting, she swung her blue flower, whipping up a pink gale to clear the smoke and keep the pressure on.

Suddenly, a blue light pierced the dust.

"Force Palm," Aaron's voice was calm again.

A massive wave of kinetic energy tore through the Fairy Wind, colliding with Floette's attack in mid-air. The resulting pressure blew the remaining dust away, revealing the state of the battlefield.

Lucario looked battered. His fur was scorched, and the heavy tal weighted bracelet on his left wrist had a visible crack running through it. But his eyes... his eyes were as sharp as ever.

On the other side, Floette was struggling. Her tiny chest was heaving, and she was clutching her blue flower with trembling hands. She had exhausted most of her stamina on that high-level tactical sequence.

He's a monster, Julian thought, his expression growing grim. Even suppressing his power to the Elite Class, his 'base' durability is that of a Champion-level partner. He's just too sturdy.

"Lucario, Bone Rush!" Aaron commanded, sensing the montum shifting.

Lucario pushed off the ground, his speed increasing despite the weights. He materialized two energy staffs this ti, spinning them like propellers as he closed the distance.

"Floette, block it with Petal Blizzard! Use everything you have left!"

Floette spun her flower, but the resulting storm was thin and ragged. The petals were sparse, and the wind lacked its previous bite. Lucario didn't even slow down; he smashed through the petals with one staff and struck Floette squarely in the chest with the other.

THWACK!

The tiny Fairy-type was sent spiraling backward, skipping across the dirt floor like a stone over water before coming to a stop near the edge of the arena.

"Floette!" Julian cried out, his heart leaping into his throat.

For a mont, she didn't move. Then, with a shaky, weak "Flo-ette...", she pushed herself up, floating just a few inches off the ground. She was covered in bruises, and her blue flower was scuffed, but her eyes remained fixed on Lucario.

Julian let out a long, shaky breath. "Thank God..."

He looked across the field. Aaron was standing with his arms crossed, no longer the jovial old man, but a serious Master of the Dojo.

"Do you see it now, young man?" Aaron asked, his voice echoing with authority. "This is the reality of the path you've chosen. Strategy can bridge a gap, and cleverness can earn you an opening, but in the end, a fighter's heart is built on the foundation of a thousand battles. My Lucario has endured more than you can imagine."

Aaron's gaze pierced through Julian. "You've shown more than any challenger this year. But your Floette is at her limit. Do you want to continue? Or will you accept that so walls cannot be climbed in a single day?"

Julian looked at the floor, his fists clenched. He felt the weight of the mont. Then, he looked at Floette. She was looking back at him, and through the exhaustion, he saw a spark of sothing new—a stubborn, uncontrollable refusal to lose.

"Phew..." Julian wiped the sweat from his eyes and looked Aaron dead in the face. "How about it, Floette? Can you still dance?"

"FLOOOO-ETTE! (Watch !)" 🌸🔥

The little flower Pokémon straightened her posture, a faint, shimring aura beginning to radiate from her red petals. It wasn't just Fairy energy; it was a resonance Julian hadn't seen before.

"Is that so?" Julian grinned, his own fighting spirit reigniting. "Then we don't stop! We won't give up until the very end! Let's show him our true 'Aura', Floette!"

Aaron's eyebrows shot up. "So be it! Lucario, let us answer their resolve!"
