At Marineford, tens of thousands clashed, throwing the battlefield into utter chaos. Fighting erupted everywhere, yet among all the clashes, the most eye-catching scene was still the confrontation between Garp and Luffy on the bridge.
Whether it was Sengoku and the three Admirals in plain sight, or the Seven Warlords like Doflamingo observing from the shadows, all eyes were focused on that spot.
With a loud bang, the scene everyone expected—Luffy being blasted away—did not occur. Instead, it was Garp, his face bruised and swollen, who was sent flying by Luffy's punch. Carried by the force, he slamd straight into the ground, leaving behind a deep crater. He lay there quietly, staring blankly at the blue sky, without saying a word.
Everyone knew Garp's strength. He was a man who once chased the Pirate King across the seas. If people still couldn't tell that he had held back, then they had lived in vain.
With Garp so blatantly going easy, even putting on a poor performance to do so, the onlookers all understood the situation.
On one side of the battlefield, a man in an Admiral's coat with a slightly lewd expression—Kizaru—touched his chin and spoke lazily.
"So that's how it is… You can slack off like that. I've learned sothing new."
Beside him stood another Admiral wearing the sa coat and a cap, his face filled with anger and dissatisfaction. This was Akainu.
"Damn Garp. That was clearly holding back. Soone like him disgraces the title of Marine hero. By all rights, people like him should be expelled from Marine Headquarters."
The last Admiral, wearing an eye mask over his afro, simply rubbed his neck and said nothing, his gaze sweeping calmly across the battlefield.
"Garp… sigh."
If there was anyone who understood Garp's strength best, it was Sengoku. Seeing Garp get knocked down by a single punch from Luffy was obviously nonsense. As his longti partner, Sengoku knew exactly what Garp was thinking—he simply didn't want to get involved. After all, both sides were his family.
But Sengoku didn't dwell on it. His priority was to carry out Ace's execution and preserve the Navy's authority.
"Ace! I'm here to save you!" Luffy shouted as he rushed forward. Closing the distance, he stretched out his arm, using his rubber body to grab Ace's shoulder and pull himself forward with montum, landing right beside him.
Seeing Luffy's smiling face, even soone as strong-willed as Ace couldn't hold back his tears.
Thinking of his comrades—each of them risking their lives and shedding blood to save him—his heart was filled with guilt. If he hadn't acted recklessly, he wouldn't have been captured. If he hadn't been captured, this war wouldn't have happened. And if this war hadn't happened, his friends wouldn't be suffering here.
But it wasn't too late.
Watching Luffy desperately trying to unlock his shackles, Ace made up his mind. Once they returned, he would properly thank everyone.
Click.
A crisp sound rang out. It wasn't loud—barely noticeable amid the thunderous chaos of the battlefield—but anyone who heard it was instantly shaken.
The shackles binding Ace had been unlocked.
Luffy and Ace both broke into uncontrollable smiles. In contrast, Sengoku's expression darkened with fury as he approached.
Without hesitation, Sengoku launched a full-powered strike fueled by anger. His body expanded, golden light radiating from him as his overwhelming presence locked onto the two brothers.
Caught off guard, Luffy and Ace had no ti to escape. Luffy quickly inflated his body like a balloon, relying on his rubber elasticity to withstand the attack.
The idea was good—but reality was far harsher.
When Sengoku's palm struck, Luffy coughed up blood violently, as if it were endless. Fragnts of internal organs were even mixed within it.
Even so, he managed to block the attack.
Seizing the brief opening, Ace imdiately moved, retreating toward Whitebeard's direction.
The mont Ace began to escape, the three Admirals—who had been standing by—instantly reacted. As the Navy's top combat power, they vanished in a flash and reappeared directly in Ace's path.
Kizaru moved first, transforming into golden light and appearing above Ace. Before Ace could react, a swift and precise kick shot toward his head. If it landed, he would be severely injured, if not killed.
But the danger didn't end there.
At the sa ti, the other two Admirals appeared on either side of him.
Aokiji extended his hand, releasing a bone-chilling cold as he reached for Ace, while Akainu's body turned into boiling magma, the intense heat distorting the air around him.
In an instant, the situation beca extrely dangerous.
Just as Ace prepared to make a desperate stand, a tall figure suddenly stepped in front of him.
Whitebeard.
He swung his blade toward the sky, his powerful slash blocking Kizaru's attack. Then, activating his ability once more, he struck outward with both hands, shattering the very space around Aokiji and Akainu.
After effortlessly resolving the crisis, Whitebeard turned to Ace and smiled calmly.
"My son, leave the rest to . Rember… you are my family."
