Chapter 208: Gary Second Divine Beast
After learning the direction of Articuno from the Team Rocket Trio, Ash’s group rushed there without stopping.
In less than half an hour, they arrived in front of a cliff, and across the cliff was a path leading directly to the highest peak of Snowtop Mountain.
"How did those three guys get up there?"
Gary looked at the ice-bound canyon, which was more than ten ters wide and bottomless, and was very curious how the Team Rocket Trio had climbed up.
"Those three never play by the rules," Ash said.
Indeed, the Team Rocket Trio always made choices that went against common sense, and Ash’s group had long grown accustod to it.
"If Articuno’s nest is really up there, there should be so caves or sothing. Gary, Ash, you both should have bird Pokémon, right? Let them scout it out first before considering the climbing route," Todd suggested.
"Okay."
Gary nodded and then released a Skarmory.
[Pokémon: Skarmory]
[Type: Steel Flying]
[Gender: Male]
[Level: Quasi-Elite Middle Stage]
[Ability: Sturdy (Even if hit by an opponent’s attack, it won’t be knocked out in one hit, and one-hit KO moves have no effect.)]
[Potential: Elite]
[Moves: tal Claw, Agility, Brave Bird, Drill Peck...]
"Not bad, Gary. I didn’t expect you to have caught a Skarmory."
This Quasi-Elite-level Skarmory surprised Ash a little; he hadn’t expected Gary to have reached this level already.
Gary found Ash’s complint grating. He looked at Ash and said, "Ash, don’t tell you haven’t caught any new Pokémon!"
"I have indeed caught several Pokémon from the Johto region. Co out, Noctowl."
Gary looked at Ash’s shiny Noctowl and instantly felt his Skarmory wasn’t as impressive. "Damn, I knew it."
Seriously, one second he’s praising soone else’s Pokémon, and the next he pulls out a shiny Pokémon himself. How is anyone supposed to live like this?
The most crucial thing was that this shiny Pokémon’s level wasn’t inferior to his own, and Gary’s eyes revealed a look of envy and jealousy.
"Noctowl, please go search for any caves on this peak!"
"Hoo~"
Noctowl understood, spread its wings, and flew towards the peak of Snowtop Mountain.
"Skarmory, I’m counting on you too," Gary shouted.
Skarmory nodded and flew upwards from another direction.
Not long after, Noctowl flew back first, with Skarmory following closely behind.
They both pointed towards the other side of the mountain.
Understanding their aning, Ash’s group also began to figure out how to climb the mountain.
After several hours of effort, the group finally arrived at the cave discovered by Noctowl and Skarmory.
As soon as Ash stepped into the cave, he heard the voice of the Articuno he had caught on Twin Islands: "Master Ash, I sense the Aura of my kin!"
"Oh, this is Snowtop Mountain. Do you know the Articuno here?" Ash asked using Aura.
"Snowtop Mountain? I haven’t heard of it. It should be a junior from my clan. Its strength is far from mine."
Articuno paused and asked, "Master Ash, are you going to catch it?"
"No, having you is enough for , but my friend might want to catch it. Don’t worry, I won’t interfere," Ash said.
"Ash, what’s wrong?" Misty asked with concern, seeing Ash standing still in a daze.
"Nothing. Articuno said it has sensed the Aura of its kin in Snowtop Mountain."
Ash had no intention of hiding it; after all, this news was known to everyone, not so secret.
"Oh, so that ans Articuno is really in this cave!" Gary said excitedly.
"Yes, but Gary, don’t get too happy too soon. This is a snow mountain environnt, which isn’t ideal for your Heatran," Ash reminded him.
Heatran, with its Fire/Steel typing, indeed had a type advantage against Articuno, but this was a perpetually frozen snow mountain, and the surrounding temperature was extrely low, which affected Pokémon and was even more harmful to people.
"Don’t worry, Ash, my Heatran will definitely win," Gary said with extre confidence.
He was determined to catch this Articuno; after all, Ash had already caught one, and if he couldn’t, wouldn’t that an the gap between him and Ash was growing wider?
Most importantly, Ash didn’t want to catch this one.
Before long, the group arrived at a massive cave.
The group observed the cave’s situation; half of the entire cave was hollow, allowing them to see the sky overhead.
However, the next second, Ash was attracted by the resources in another part of the cave: "Is that Never-lt Ice? And an Ice Stone?"
"So many! And the quality is superb!" Misty exclaid.
"If you want them, go collect them. I’m going to find Articuno!"
Gary, as a wealthy individual, didn’t care about such trivial resources. After speaking, he followed a small path straight down, and Todd followed closely behind him.
anwhile, Ash’s group happily divided up these resources.
They might not need them themselves, but they could exchange them for money or other resources!
Of course, Brock still needed these things to exchange for money.
Half an hour later, after collecting all the Never-lt Ice and Ice Stones, the three walked down into the cave.
Soon, they saw the scene of Articuno and Heatran battling.
[Pokémon: Articuno]
[Type: Ice Flying]
[Gender: Genderless]
[Level: Elite Middle Stage]
[Ability: Snow Cloak (Evasion is boosted in Hail.)]
[Potential: Secondary God]
[Moves:...]
Glancing at the information of the Articuno in front of him, Ash exclaid, "So it’s an Articuno with the Snow Cloak ability. No wonder it’s accompanied by snow and ice; it’s to conceal its tracks."
"Heatran, use Lava Plu!" Gary shouted.
Heatran, clinging to the icy Rock, gathered Fire-type energy and unleashed two fiery tornadoes towards Articuno.
The perpetually frozen ice cave had a certain suppressive effect on Heatran, making it difficult to mobilize more fire elent energy. The two fiery tornadoes were completely nullified by the Blizzard Articuno blew out.
Gary didn’t get discouraged and continued to shout, "Heatran, use Stone Edge!"
Heatran slamd its foot on the ice Rock, and then sharp Rock pieces appeared above its head, shooting towards Articuno.
"Caw!"
Articuno also had a temper. It flapped its wings, using Ancient Power to block Heatran’s attacks one by one, and then unleashed Psybeam.
"Heatran, block its attack with Fire Blast, then charge up Iron Head!"
Heatran understood. Its spots emitted a large amount of heat, first launching a large character-shaped fla. Then, taking advantage of the large amount of steam generated by the clash of the two moves, it ran upwards while charging its move. The mont the steam dissipated, a pale beam of light shot directly towards Articuno.
The unprepared Articuno was directly hit in the wing by this move and fell back into its nest.
Gary also took the opportunity to throw a Poké Ball and catch it.
Seeing Gary catch Articuno, Ash congratulated him: "Congratulations, Gary!"
