At that thought, he sighed and said, "I never should have let you spend every day with all those disciples. It made you think they’re nothing special."

Rowan Forrest replied, "But the disciples *are* just average-looking. And they’re all skinny as bamboo poles, how can they compare to Brother Rook? Dad, just because Mom fell for you even though you’re a stick yourself, doesn’t an I have to find soone exactly like you."

William Forrest clutched his chest. ’That’s my daughter, alright.’ At a loss for words, Elder Forrest couldn’t help but say, "Daughter, has it ever occurred to you that my looks might be what’s considered normal?" What wasn’t normal was his daughter’s taste in n.

Rowan Forrest stared at him, then reached out and patted his shoulder. "Dad, you’re too skinny. You should eat more."

William Forrest: "..."

He felt a mouthful of blood welling up in his chest, caught between being coughed up and swallowed down. The feeling was agonizing.

’Forget it!’

’She’s a lost cause!’

’A completely hopeless case.’

’Let her do whatever she wants.’

’To each their own, I suppose.’

All his complaining was just for show. The truth was, he’d been turning a blind eye for the past two years. If any outsider were to speak ill of Damon Grant, he’d still be the first to jump to his defense. Disliking the boy was his prerogative and his alone.

"As for your marriage... we can discuss it in the future."

Rowan Forrest’s eyes lit up at his words. "Dad, you agree!"

’What else can I do? I can’t just let my daughter keep following that boy around without being married. I still have my reputation to think about.’

’If I don’t agree soon, who knows when she’ll suddenly spring a grandchild on .’

He waved his hand dismissively. "Go on, get out of here. Just looking at you is giving your old man a heartache."

’Such a fine cabbage, rooted up by a pig. Who could possibly understand this old father’s feelings? I just hope that if I ever have a granddaughter, this... condition... isn’t hereditary.’

Seeing that her father had finally agreed, Rowan Forrest happily threw her arms around him, a wide smile spreading across her face. "Dad, you’re the best! I’m going to tell Brother Rook the good news right now!"

As she spoke, she turned and trotted away, her figure radiating pure joy.

Watching his daughter’s joyous departure, William Forrest shook his head and muttered,

"What a disaster."

’I just hope she doesn’t regret this in the future. Of course, if that boy ever dares to mistreat my daughter, I’ll skin him alive.’

When he first found out his daughter was seeing a Demon Cultivator, he felt like the sky was falling.

After that, this fellow nad Damon Grant was impossible to get rid of, whether by shooing or by fighting. The boy’s main strategy was a combination of sincerity and shalessness, and his daughter insisted it had to be him. William had thought that if he just held out and refused to consent, the boy would eventually give up after a while. He never expected that after so many years, the kid still hadn’t given up.

’Gradually, he ca to realize that while the boy was a bit rough around the edges, he was genuinely good to his daughter. *Sigh*, so be it. I just hope the kid doesn’t take her for granted once she’s his.’

’My radiant, precious daughter.’

He sighed once more.

His gaze shifted to his disciples, and his frustration boiled over. "What are you looking at? Get back to work! You’re all grown n, but you can’t even win over your junior sister. What’s the use of any of you?"

William Forrest’s disciples all felt deeply wronged.

"Master, you can’t bla us for this."

"It’s true! Junior Sister doesn’t like our type." It was useless even if they were handso, because she thought they were ugly. On several occasions, they’d even begun to wonder if they truly were ugly.

It was no use for them to like their junior sister; she only had eyes for that Demon Cultivator.

William Forrest pointed at them. "You’re all too skinny! What are you doing just standing there like a bunch of bamboo poles? Get to work! No wonder Wanda looks down on you. You never train, you don’t even look sturdy."

"Yes, Master."

The corners of his disciples’ mouths twitched. ’Master,’ they couldn’t help but think, ’are you sure you haven’t been infected by Junior Sister?’

In the Cultivation World, neither the Immortal nor Demonic Paths were idle. Besides constructing The Undercity, they were also focused on enhancing their disciples’ practical combat experience.

In this regard, at the Bloodfiend Den, Elder Sawyer and the others had been constantly busy.

Ti passed slowly.

「A few months went by in the blink of an eye.」

Once the Undercity shelters across the Cultivation World were completed, The Demonic Sects and the Immortal Sect reached a consensus. They each dispatched disciples to the Mortal Realm to evacuate the common people of every nation, along with their emperors, and bring them to the nearest Undercity.

The back-and-forth process took the better part of a month.

After the ordinary people were evacuated, it was the turn of the cultivators’ families within the Cultivation World. They all imdiately sent their family mbers with low Cultivation to take refuge in the Undercity nearest to their hos. As for those with high Cultivation, they were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice and fight to the death.

After all, when true disaster struck, sacrifices were inevitable. But they weren’t afraid of that; they weren’t even afraid of death. In the dog-eat-dog Cultivation World, what was the point of Cultivation if a Cultivator feared such things? For the sake of the families they protected, they had to put up a fight.

If they didn’t drive out the Outer Realms Race, or better yet, kill them, there would be no peaceful life for anyone.

「Half a year flew by.」

The ti of the Heavenly Dao’s prophecy had arrived. Cultivators from both the Immortal and Demonic Paths were now constantly monitoring the skies for any activity.

However, as the days passed one by one, the prophesied invasion of the Outer Realms Race did not occur.

At this point, many in the Cultivation World began to wonder if the prophecy had been wrong. Or perhaps the whole "Outer Realms Race invasion" thing was a lie.

There were even so troublemakers, who had been living in The Undercity for the better part of a month, who began to stir up public opinion, claiming it was all a conspiracy.

「Inside The Undercity.」

A man with sharp, weaselly features was fanning the flas.

"So Heavenly Dao prophecy? So Outer Realms Race? All this ti has passed, and nothing has happened! I think this is all a conspiracy by those Demon Cultivators! I’ve heard so Demon Cultivators use living people for blood sacrifices to advance their Cultivation. I bet they cooked up this whole sche as a cover-up!"

Hearing this, the people who had gathered around him grew afraid.

They were all ordinary people. If what he said about the Demon Cultivators was true, they would have no way to resist.

Seeing that the people around him were convinced, the weaselly-faced man felt even more certain he was right. He began to shout, "We want to leave! We want to leave!"

"That’s right... I want to go ho! I don’t want to stay here anymore!"

"We want to go ho! We don’t want to die here!"

"Yes, I want to go ho!"

Within The Undercity, buildings stretched as far as the eye could see. There were streets and water sources, just like a normal city. Aside from the dim sky, which was a product of an Array, it really wasn’t much different from the outside world.

But after being riled up by the weaselly-faced man, they were truly starting to panic, believing the Demon Cultivators were going to use them for a blood sacrifice.

Every Undercity had Cultivators stationed as guards. Soon enough, the troublemaker was grabbed by the collar and hoisted into the air by a Demon Cultivator.

The Demon Cultivator’s face was a mask of fury as he spoke in a nacing tone, "You dare cause trouble? It seems you’re tired of living. We’re trying to figure out how to save your pathetic lives, and you dare to hinder us? I’ll cut you all down! If it weren’t for the Lady’s kindness in wanting to save you, we couldn’t be bothered with you. This was a joint decision by both the Immortal and Demonic Paths. You can distrust us, but are you telling you don’t trust the Cultivators of the Immortal Sect either?"

The Demon Cultivator didn’t bother with any more words.

With a single slap, he struck the troublemaker dead.

"This is the fate of anyone who dares to cause trouble."

With that, his figure vanished from the spot.
