Though thinking about it more, there was no one left they needed to fuck up or who would even dare go against them... nobody would be that fucking stupid... and there was somthing bigger to think about as the car ca to stop... a stop to finally see them.

That feeling imdiately got to Jas... he felt his body turn into nothing but weight, like sobody was clinging to him, dragging him down... and that feeling was guilt. The guilt he still carried, the guilt he kept pushing down, deep down... but seeing the gates, seeing the headstones spread all around, dragged it all back to the surface.

"Should I go with you?" Hector asked as he saw Jas’ eyes just looking at the distance.

"No, I’m good, take Charlotte and—"

"I say hi too." Her voice suddenly ca as she looked up at Jas, and she looked nothing like sobody who just woke up from a good sleep... no, she looked like sobody who was up all the ti.

"Did you pretend to sleep?" Jas asked as he eyed her.

"Might be." She answered, and it was obvious to both of them, even to Hector, that she was up... that she pretended to sleep to hear what they were talking about, to be part of their talk, of their business.

This girl is going to be a problem, Jas thought and indeed, she would be one as she grew and to be fair, he knew it.

It was undeniable that she would develop a persona that mirrored both Lucian and him, reflecting two different families, two different dons, with two defiant approaches to the world. And the worst of it all or maybe the best was that she had already seen, heard, and learned everything she knew from the Augustus family, from her own blood... the aggression, the killings, the complete lack of morality toward anything and now, with Jas, she would learn even more.

The Augustus family’s last broken piece, now under the Bellini family, not just under their protection, but their princess to the throne... what a fucking life that waits for her.

Maybe she is going to be the worst mafia boss that ever lived... at least if she ever becos one.

"Are you sure you want to say hi to them?"

"Yes." She said back, holding eye contact, and the two of them were just impossible to read from Hector’s point of view.

Charlotte had that childish yet serious gaze, staring deep into Jas, while Jas, on the other hand, had those hollow eyes that had seen horrors, lived through trauma, and still do.

Though during that another question was asked by him. "Should I tell Bella to stay back?" Hector asked, but he sensed sothing was wrong there too... she wasn’t jumping, screaming, hugging, or anything when they landed.

She looked like soone who had been dumped, or sothing close to that.

"No, she’s mad at , so there’s no problem with her, at least for a week." Jas glanced at Hector. "But it’s ti to go then." He continued as he opened the door, first helping Charlotte climb out, and then stepped out himself, grabbing his cane and moving slowly, the cold breeze hitting his face and shit... he looked like death with a cane, and it was thanks to the bad weather that he prepared for.

A full black outfit, black overcoat, the black fedora cap on his head, the suit beneath the coat, the black cargos, the shoes, and that slight limp he walked with.

He looked truly like a Don, like a true mafia boss... though on his side, Charlotte had her own little bubble as she held Jas’ hand.

White sport shoes, black pants on her, with a beige down jacket with cat patterns all over it, and a white beanie on her head.

It was like yin and yang, like life and death walking side by side with each other.

"You walk like a grandpa." She said as they were going rather slow, thanks to the fact that Jas used all the dicine he brought with him to Maraci, and nothing was left which ant the pain was just bad.

Like if sobody was stabbing his leg with needles.

"At least I can still walk, darling."

The mont he said it, Charlotte’s grip tightened around his hand. She didn’t say anything, but the reason for her reaction was clear.

She understood exactly what Jas ant, especially that "at least." She was there, she had seen it all. He could have died protecting her, right there on the spot. Instead, he survived... at the cost of walking normally, at the cost of ever being normal again.

"They are there." Jas’ voice ca pulling out of Charlotte from her thoughts, but now it was lower than ever. It was kinda fragile, but he tried to keep up with normality, not to show too much emotion as they turned to the path that led to Rafael and Hans, but when they arrived it was just too much.

The silence was heavier than ever, no words, not even a single breath could be heard. Only the wind, brushing through the trees, dragging leaves across the ground. A silence that said so much, yet what spoke even louder was his fingers tightening around Charlotte’s warm hand as he looked down at the headstone and read the nas carved into it.

Two different words, yet carrying the sa aning... just like them. Charlotte, wrapped in her fragile bubble, and Jas, his wound aching in front of those two nas, standing between two completely different worlds.

Rafael Bellini beside Hans Bellini.

An innocent young man who didn’t deserve to die, who deserved to live his life to the fullest, far away from all the terror and sin, from all the cris that the Bellinis are.

And beside him rests Hans Bellini. The man who took an oath to protect the Bellinis and in doing so... he died and the worst part of it all... he failed. He had failed to protect what he swore to guard, but in truth, nobody had ever looked at him that way. No, he had done everything he could.

In Jas’s eyes, he died as a hero. A hero who tries everything to protect Rafael. A hero who will live forever in Jas’s heart... just as Rafael.

A hero. A little brother who tried his best to look up to Jas, who tried his best to live a normal life even while being bullied, even while slowly breaking.

In reality only one who failed them... was Jas.
