Stepping inside the house, it was exactly how Jas expected it would be... just empty.

It was a straightforward feeling, and he only stepped through the door into the foyer, but the emptiness was too obvious. There wasn’t the scent that was always in the house, that flowery sll, the sa flower his mother cared for. She always put it in, to let the scent go around the house, the sll of laundry detergent, the sll of a ho.

There wasn’t any... not a single sll that would just say it was a ho, that sobody was living in it, and even Charlotte herself noticed it.

"It is empty." She said, as even for her it was strange. She didn’t know the feeling she could put into words, but she felt it the sa as her old ho.

The ti she lived at the Lucian house, and how empty it had been, no soul truly understood her, or cared about her. The staff were there for the money, and everyone else... she was just on her own in that big mansion,.. and this was the sa.

Not a single sound, just pure silence. The whole house practically scread depression, and nothing else.

"Uhm, I sent them to... to train a bit, to know what to do if sothing happens, and I sent so of them ho."

"You an ho or ho ho?" Jas asked back as he noticed that Hector was careful with his words in front of Charlotte.

"Well... so of them went ho, and others... ho ho." Hector said, glancing at Jas with that strange look... the exact stare he had whenever he rembered what he had done.

The thing was, Jas didn’t know. Hector talked about everything over the phone, but never about what he had actually done. He didn’t even know about all the security changes, didn’t know who had died, he only knew about Xavier, his team, and the chef. Nothing more.

"Why don’t you just say ’killed’?" Charlotte’s voice suddenly ca with a slight frustration. "It’s too obvious to say ’ho, ho.’ I know the difference between the two."

Well saying it in front of her in two different ways was way too obvious, and second, Vallen used the sa in front of her... she knew what ho and "ho ho" ant.

"You know we want to protect you, Charlotte." Jas explained to her, but her eyes and facial expression were telling him that she was frustrated. And of course she was, because Jas knew she wanted to be strong, wanted to show her strength, that she lived through hell and didn’t need to be babysitted. So before she could explode in anger, he continued. "But you are right, and you need to hear it to understand what we are." He glanced at Hector. "So what did you do, Hector?"

Hector didn’t know what was happening. Like he thought they were trying to protect Charlotte from what they are... but looking down at her, he understood it.

It was clear she wanted to be involved... so young, yet she refused to be pushed aside, refusing to pretend they were living in a good world. Even Jas seed to have given up ntally on protecting her from themselves.

"Uh... well, yes, I killed so of them because they did wrong." Hector said it straight, not even trying to soften it or lighten it.

"With a gun?" She asked again, her blue eyes fixed on him. It was absurd, because Hector actually considered explaining how he had done it, how he had stabbed so of them multiple tis.

Though he only considered it because it was obvious Charlotte understood the aning of death.

She understands death, what it is, how it works on the level of a criminal organization. A child that young, and she understands it all, but of course, he didn’t start with the details of how he had killed them. No. Instead, he did it in a gentleman’s fashion.

Slowly, he reached behind his coat and pulled out the sa custom-made gun, engraved just like Ferucci’s, and held it out to her. "With this."

Her eyes locked onto it instantly. The silver gun glead under the light, the roses engraved into the tal with the Bellini na... she was srized, captivated by the way it looked, the way it seed almost... cool.

But Jas shattered that mont.

"This is what our family is built on, Charlotte." He began, slowly kneeling and taking the gun from Hector’s hand, showing it closer to her. "This thing decides life and death... but you know that because you’ve experienced what it can do." He looked her in the eyes, holding the gun steady. "Everything we are is built on this piece of tal. Without it, we are nobodies, but there’s a bigger weapon than this, one that can bring much more chaos."

"What is that?" she asked, her voice low and cautious as she continued staring at the gun... then she felt it, Jas’ hand gently tapping her forehead.

Jas’ eyes softened just slightly, but the intensity never left them. "The bigger weapon is knowing. Knowing when to act, when to stop, when to strike, and when to let the world fall apart on its own. The gun... it’s only a tool. But knowledge, Charlotte... knowledge is what makes a family survive and dominate." Jas leaned slightly closer. "One mistake, one mont of hesitation, and everything we built, everything we are, could crumble. That’s why knowledge is the weapon that keeps us alive when tal alone cannot."

She understood it to so extent, but so many questions had arisen in her—which was good... questions that demanded knowledge. So she asked what she truly felt about what Jas had said.

"But... that day..." she began, her eyes locked on his, "the gun... it saved you and and that’s what you used to get your revenge, isn’t it?"
