Now reading: Chapter 28: System Upgrade from Primordial Awakening: They Targeted My Daughter, I Became The Butcher!, a Fantasy novel by IHateWriting.

Avery knew of the existence of hidden organizations scattered throughout the world.

Ancient families and secret factions whose histories stretched back long before the appearance of dungeons.

Most people believed humanity’s story began changing only after the first dungeon appeared.

That wasn’t true.

At least, not entirely.

Only after deciphering several ancient runes recovered from high-level dungeons had Avery begun to glimpse fragnts of the truth.

The world was far older.

Far deeper.

And far more dangerous than ordinary people realized.

Looking at the Butcher, she couldn’t help but feel that he belonged to one of those hidden organizations.

The feeling was impossible to explain.

Yet it persisted.

Amon stared at her silently.

Confusion flickered beneath the mask.

He had no idea why she was suddenly making such assumptions.

"If you have nothing more to discuss."

His deep, gruff voice echoed through the room.

He glanced toward the exit.

The aning was obvious.

He intended to leave.

Avery’s eyes flashed briefly.

Yet her professional smile remained perfectly intact.

"I hope our paths cross again in the future."

She raised a slender hand.

A mont later, a scroll appeared within her grasp.

"This is a token of friendship."

She extended it toward him.

Amon lowered his gaze.

He didn’t move.

Nor did he reach for the scroll.

"It’s a high-ranking skill," Avery explained gently.

"I believe you’ll find it useful."

When Amon still didn’t react, she pushed it slightly closer.

"I insist."

For several seconds, neither spoke.

Eventually, Amon realized she had no intention of backing down.

Without another word, he accepted it.

The scroll vanished from his hand and entered his system storage.

The mont it disappeared, a subtle glimr flashed through Avery’s eyes.

Only then did she step back.

Amon studied her for several monts.

Sothing about the woman felt strange.

Not dangerous.

Not hostile.

Just...

Off.

Like there was sothing hidden beneath the surface that he couldn’t quite grasp.

Unable to pinpoint the source of the feeling, he turned and left.

Moon followed silently.

Jacob hurried after them.

The door closed.

Silence filled the room.

The manager’s respectful deanor disappeared instantly.

"Master."

His expression beca serious.

"Are you truly planning to involve them in the Thousand Blood War?"

He frowned.

"They’re only B-Rank Hunters."

"The Thousand Blood War is fought by S-Ranks."

"Even A-Ranks are little more than cannon fodder."

Avery remained staring toward the closed door.

A faint smile slowly appeared on her lips.

"I know."

The manager frowned further.

"Then why?"

Avery’s eyes narrowed slightly.

The sensation she had felt from Amon surfaced once more.

"He is far more special than you realize."

The manager fell silent.

Avery possessed a rare ability.

One that existed in only a handful of individuals across the world.

The Eyes of Nihura.

A gift that allowed her to glimpse a person’s future potential.

Most people appeared ordinary.

So shone brightly.

A few possessed enough talent to beco legends.

Yet what she had witnessed when she looked at the Butcher was unlike anything she had ever seen before.

Potential.

Endless potential.

Boundless.

Limitless.

As though no ceiling existed above him.

For a brief mont, she had almost lost control of herself.

Fortunately, she restrained those impulses.

Pushing too hard would only drive him away.

And that was the last thing she wanted.

A small smile appeared on her face.

’I wonder if he’s single.’

The thought surfaced unexpectedly.

Marrying such a man wouldn’t be so bad.

...

anwhile, Amon and the others had already left the black market.

The vehicle moved smoothly through the city streets.

Only now did Amon finally turn his attention toward the scroll Avery had gifted him.

He wasn’t expecting much.

Perhaps a useful A-Rank technique.

Maybe a rare support skill.

Yet the mont he examined it, his eyes widened.

[Ding! Detected a Unique Sword Art.]

[Would you like to master it or assign it to the Void Clone?]

Amon imdiately focused.

A new screen appeared.

[Heaven Extinguishing Swordsmanship (Incomplete Divine)]

[Contains six sword arts.]

[Current Completion: Three Sword Arts.]

For several monts, Amon simply stared.

His mind went blank.

Divine Rank?

A swordsmanship at the Divine Rank?

Even incomplete, the implication was terrifying.

His brows slowly furrowed.

Sothing wasn’t right.

According to public knowledge, Mythical Rank was the highest rank humanity had ever discovered.

That information was taught everywhere.

Schools.

Hunter associations.

Governnt records.

The internet.

Yet now a Divine Rank swordsmanship had appeared directly before him.

A possibility surfaced.

What if the truth had been hidden?

The thought sent a chill through him.

After all, the world had been deceived about him.

Millions genuinely believed he was a villain.

If public opinion could be manipulated so easily, then why couldn’t information about skill rankings be manipulated as well?

His eyes narrowed.

Perhaps Divine Rank wasn’t the limit either.

The realization caused his heartbeat to accelerate slightly.

Back when he first awakened the system, he had assud the rewards it granted represented the upper limit of existence.

Now he wasn’t so certain.

If Divine Rank existed...

Then what existed beyond it?

The thought lingered in his mind.

Eventually, he pushed the speculation aside.

There wasn’t enough information yet.

For now, he focused on the imdiate matter.

Since he already possessed a Divine Rank ability, this swordsmanship would benefit the Void Clone far more.

Without hesitation, he assigned it.

Instantly, a subtle change occurred.

Moon remained seated quietly beside him.

Outwardly, nothing had changed.

Yet through their connection, Amon could sense it.

The clone had beco stronger.

Not dramatically.

But noticeably.

Satisfied, Amon moved on to the remaining purchases.

[Ding! Detected D-Rank Spatial Teleportation Technique.]

[Master or Assign to Void Clone?]

[Ding! Detected D-Rank Damage Amplification Technique.]

[Master or Assign to Void Clone?]

Amon considered it briefly.

The answer was obvious.

The clone would soon begin cleansing the city.

That operation would place him in constant danger.

Mobility was essential.

Firepower was equally important.

Without hesitation, he assigned both techniques to Moon.

The clone’s combat capabilities rose yet again.

Amon finally relaxed.

Leaning back against his seat, he closed his eyes.

The new Butcher possessed sufficient tools to survive independently for quite so ti.

anwhile, Amon could continue signing in, gathering Fate Points, upgrading abilities, and strengthening himself.

Everything was proceeding perfectly.

Then suddenly—

[Ding!]

Amon’s eyes snapped open.

His expression changed imdiately.

The system had never activated on its own before.

Sothing unusual had happened.

He quickly focused on the notification.

The mont he read it, he froze.

[Ding!]

[Your Daughter has reached F-Rank Strength.]

[Reward: 10 Fate Points.]

[Beginning System Upgrade.]

[Initializing access to more generous rewards.]

[Initializing access to rewards above Divine Rank.]

[Loading... 1.0%]

[Loading... 1.1%]

[Loading... 1.2%]

For several seconds, Amon simply stared.

His thoughts completely halted.

His daughter?

The system had just said—

His daughter?

A rare look of genuine shock appeared beneath the mask.

’My daughter reached what?’
