Now reading: Chapter 209 - 120 Bai Weixi’s Confession, Xia Zhijin’s Disco from Pursuing Her Best Friend after Confession Failed, a Drama novel by Life is as dazzling as summer flowers.

Others could date over twenty girlfriends at the sa ti, but he couldn’t even handle four.

Indeed, even though he had been reborn, his emotional intelligence had not improved much.

After thinking for a long ti, Li Yuan couldn’t co up with a good solution. As drowsiness gradually crept in, he hugged Bai Weixi and drifted off to sleep.

...

The next day, Li Yuan woke up groggily and felt the space beside him; it was already empty.

Where is Bai Weixi?

Startled, Li Yuan hurriedly sat up. He instinctively reached for his phone, which was still on silent, and noticed several unread ssages.

Just as Li Yuan was about to get up, he heard Bai Weixi push the door open. She wore an apron and said with a beaming smile, "Honey, you’re awake? Breakfast is ready. Get up and eat."

Li Yuan stared for a mont. It was the first ti he had ever seen Bai Weixi like this. He asked with curiosity, "Bai, you made breakfast? Don’t you know how to cook?"

Bai Weixi blinked her eyes and gave a gentle smile. "I didn’t before, but I can learn."

"Cooking isn’t that hard. I stead so rice porridge for you, bought so buns from downstairs, fried an egg, and stir-fried so shredded green peppers and potatoes."

"Lazybones, get up and eat. We have class this morning. If you don’t get up soon, we’ll be late."

Li Yuan felt a strange pang in his heart. After confirming their relationship, Bai Weixi’s behavior had been impeccable.

But the better she acted, the more conflicted Li Yuan felt.

He got out of bed with mixed feelings. After a quick wash-up, he ate the slightly overcooked fried egg and the very thickly cut "green pepper potato chunks," his heart a jumble of emotions.

If he had not been reborn, living a happy life like this would have probably been his ultimate dream. But he had been reborn, and with reservations in his heart.

Seeing that Li Yuan was just silently nibbling on a bun, Bai Weixi spoke with a hint of sadness, "Honey, it’s my first ti cooking, so the potato shreds are a bit thick. I hope you don’t mind."

Li Yuan forced a smile and patted her head. "The chunky green pepper potatoes are delicious. You’ve already done a great job, much better than the first al I ever cooked."

Receiving Li Yuan’s praise, Bai Weixi’s gloom instantly turned to joy, and a smile returned to her face.

"Honey, when was the first ti you cooked? What did you make back then?"

Hearing Bai Weixi’s question, Li Yuan’s mind instantly flashed back a long, long ti ago. His parents had left to work far away in the Northeast, starting a small business when he was only in the third grade.

So, back then, he had tried to cook for himself, which led to a particularly interesting and terrifying incident.

"Bai, you might not believe this, but I first tried cooking when I was in the third grade. I wanted to make so porridge and steam so buns.

"As I was making the porridge, I completely forgot to add water to the pot and ended up burning a hole right through our family’s big iron wok. The buns turned out black and rock-hard...

"Have you ever seen the kind of earthen stove we had in the countryside? The ones for burning firewood.

"That was my first ti cooking—a truly unforgettable mory."

Li Yuan couldn’t help but laugh as he spoke. His childhood was certainly interesting.

As a left-behind child, his life was also quite miserable. If it weren’t for his decent height and face, he would have surely grown up to be an extrely insecure boy from the countryside.

As Bai Weixi listened to Li Yuan’s story, her smile grew wider. She took his hand, her beautiful eyes fixed on him as she said cheerfully, "Honey, you must have been terrified back then, right?"

Li Yuan smiled and shook his head. "That wasn’t the scariest ti. The scariest was another ti I cooked, shortly after that incident."

Bai Weixi pleaded coquettishly, "Honey, hurry and tell . I want to hear."

Li Yuan smiled. "Soon after my first attempt at cooking, I was stir-frying sothing while my sister managed the fire. I think she was only seven at the ti, just in the first grade.

"I was cooking, and she was managing the fire. When I poured in the rapeseed oil—the kind pressed from rapeseeds in our hotown—it hit the scorching hot wok and imdiately burst into flas.

"I’d never seen anything like it, so I panicked. Thinking water could put out a fire, I poured water into the wok, but that just made the flas grow even bigger. Zixia was so scared she burst into tears...

"So, I grabbed Zixia and ran outside to get my cousin. He rushed in, poured dirt into the wok, and covered it with a lid to smother the fire..."

Bai Weixi cupped her face, listening intently. Her brow furrowed when she heard that the house had nearly burned down.

"Honey, you were so brave. Compared to you, I can’t do anything. My mom always did all the laundry and cooking."

Li Yuan smiled awkwardly. Those two cooking experiences were indeed seared into his mory, experiences he would likely never forget.

"Bai, I actually envy you. You’ve had your parents by your side your whole life. But Zixia and I beca left-behind children from a very young age. Our parents worked in the Northeast and only ca ho once a year for Chinese New Year...

"When I was little, I was often bullied by other kids, so I’d fight back. I fought with almost all the boys my age in our village...

"Growing up was full of hardships. With just one small misstep, I could have ended up like many of my peers, dropping out of school after middle school—or maybe not even finishing—to learn a trade like car repair or cooking and join the workforce early."
