The cold surge continues, but compared to before, the temperature has noticeably risen.

For this reason, Jiang Lai specifically built a watchtower, arranging for soone to stay on it daily to observe the surroundings.

Lately, the area outside the walls has been noticeably uneasy.

As the temperature gradually rises, so mbers of the Beast Clan that were originally trapped in hibernation have now awakened.

Among them, the most dangerous one is the Bear Clan.

"Previously, a few mbers of the Bear Clan awoke early, disrupting the tribe’s peace and nearly costing us our lives.

Now, most of the Bear Clan has ended their hibernation, and the first thing they want to do after a winter of starvation is to hunt."

The old chief looked at Jiang Lai with worry in his eyes.

"The big tree invites the wind; our tribe will be the first to be attacked."

In the entire forest, the Bear Clan nearly has no natural enemies.

The Wolf Clan can compete with them, but only if the Wolf Clan has sufficient numbers.

After all, the reproductive ability of female wolves is notably stronger than that of female bears, so numbers offset the lack of strength, allowing the Wolf Clan to have a foothold in this forest.

The old chief’s worries quickly beca a reality.

Early the next morning, Jiang Lai was awakened by an alarm inside the house.

The alarm had been installed for a long ti, yet it was always an ornant, as few mbers of the Beast Clan could frequently touch the electrified wire fence.

Outside remained still, and the forest was eerily silent.

Precisely because of this silence, everything appeared eerily strange; Jiang Lai said nothing and went to the next room, knocking and waking everyone.

"There are other beast tribes invading outside."

"Is it the Bear Clan?"

Everyone panicked; there were just a few of them, and they were old or injured. Previously, three bears almost wiped them out, and now with the Bear Clan awakened, more than three are surely coming.

Jiang Lai maintained a calm deanor, speaking with a deep voice.

"Why panic? They are outside, and we are inside; they are in the open, and we are in the dark.

We have two layers of walls and electrified fencing; most importantly, we have weapons.

We’ve made so many preparations; what is there to fear?"

Look at Ayuan, calm as can be, even picking up a crossbow eagerly.

The realization struck them: it made sense.

This was not the past; they were no longer the weak targets for everyone’s bullying.

A few simple words from Jiang Lai cald everyone down.

"Dad, you take two uncles to the watchtower to observe the enemy.

The remaining few uncles, co with .

Two grandmothers, follow Ayuan."

With that said, everyone moved quickly as Jiang Lai instructed.

On the watchtower, everything around was visible.

The old chief looked at the movent outside the walls, then found the camouflaged Bear Clan in the snow.

They wore white pelts, almost rging with the snow, but the old chief, seasoned with battles, had the sharp eyes to notice them and continued to observe.

Already, more than a dozen Bears had moved between the first and second layers of the walls.

The first wall was wooden, and the Bears, with their imnse strength, could easily break through.

But the second wall was solid brick, much harder than wood. Watching them wandering outside, the old chief made a hand gesture toward Jiang Lai below.

Jiang Lai nodded, cut the power, then climbed up to the top of the wall along the ladder. Standing behind the sharp wire fence, she straightened her body, drew her crossbow, and shot an arrow at the Bears below.

Following her, several uncles swiftly fired arrows in succession, causing chaos among the Bears below, with howls and furious roars swirling in confusion.

The brick wall rumbled as they bashed it, and the area beneath started to crumble. Jiang Lai aid at the frenzied Bear below and shot an arrow into its arm.

The wall was now on the verge of collapse.

Against these rampaging beasts, even brick walls couldn’t withstand their forceful impact.

"First, descend; retreat back to the house - they’re almost depleted."

The barrage just now had decreased the Bear Clan by more than half.

The ones that could break through the walls were just a few now.

Jiang Lai did not retreat into the house but instead climbed to the top of a tree in the tribe and stood there, watching the painstakingly built wall collapse at one corner as the furious Bears charged through.

"Such an open mouth; not shooting you would be a disservice to myself."

Muttering to herself, Jiang Lai aid and shot.

The crossbow had limited range, which was why Jiang Lai waited for them to charge through the walls before shooting.

The arrow pierced directly through the throat, causing the massive black bear to collapse in a heap.

A few black bears behind it glanced around, cautiously observing the surroundings. Before they could spot her, Jiang Lai unleashed several arrows again.

Their bear hides were thick, so she specifically aid at the eyes, nose, mouth, and occasionally the paws.

Arrows flew from the house as well, accompanied by deafening roars, quickly bringing silence to the courtyard.

Jiang Lai descended the tree trunk, stepping onto the Bear Clan mber’s head, removing the arrow embedded in it.

Blood dripped from the iron arrowhead.

These were crafted by sawing off parts from the harvester; she made a few iron arrowheads that were several tis more powerful than wooden ones, instantly piercing through a Bear’s head.

She recovered several arrows, wiping the blood off them disgustedly onto the Bear’s fur.

A few uncles rushed out of the wooden house.

"Leader, where’s Ayuan? The back wall was also breached!"

Jiang Lai stored the arrows, exhaled a breath.

"Don’t worry, he’s far better than ."

Moreover, the watchtower just sent instructions; there aren’t many Bears at the back.

"Stay here and guard this breach; I’ll check at the back."

Running to the back, she was greeted by a massive Bear body, with Ayuan and two grandmothers outside dealing with two other Bears.

Do not be fooled by the small stature of the grandmothers; their speed was agile, accuracy high, and arrows unfailingly hitting their targets.

The two Bears beca pincushions, lying dead on the ground, as one grandmother stepped on its corpse, shooting another arrow into its head for closure.

This stance was far wilder than the uncles on the other side.

Ayuan saw Jiang Lai and imdiately approached, sweeping his gaze over her.

"Are you alright?"

"I’m fine. Drag the corpses inside; don’t let the sll of blood spread too far."

The wall had been smashed to create a hole, and the wire fence had fallen, with a black bear tangled within.

It wasn’t dead yet and found after several attempts that its flesh was too caught in the wires to break free; it simply gave up.

Its black eyes stared intently at the approaching Jiang Lai, snarling angrily.
