Seeing the human-faced creature fleeing away, Logan also jumped, tailing it without hesitation.
But just as he was about to follow....
The wyvern let out a thunderous roar, its wings beating violently, shaking the air itself. Logan who was solely focused on catching the creature and not on keeping balance, was thrown off its massive back.
But he twisted midair, flipped, and then crashed onto the ground with a heavy thud!
The four minotaurs imdiately rushed to the human-faced creature’s side, forming up around it. They spread out, encircling him in the center, their massive bodies creating a living shield.
And yet... even as they stood like guardians, their eyes flicked uneasily toward Logan. He was weaker—far weaker—than their combined might. But still, sothing about him made them hesitate. Made them wary.
On the other hand...
The mont Logan had hit the ground, the wyvern craned its head back once more. Heat swelled in its throat, molten fire gathering like a river of lava ready to burst.
And then....
Its massive jaws thrust forward.
A torrent of flas roared out, storming straight toward Logan, who had barely landed.
"Aiden!"
Both Noah and Ali shouted at once, their voices laced with raw fear.
But Logan?
"Tch!
It seems you are tired of living."
The sa person who was still cautious of the wyvern even a few monts ago was now looking at it in disdain. He had lost all his rationality. Only one thing hamred in his head, made his heart heavy with unpleasant mories. And his eyes? They burned with pure rage.
He waved his hand and a huge ice barrier materialized from thin air and stood between him and the incoming torrent of fire.
The mont the fiery breath landed on the barrier...
Booooom!
A loud explosion erupted like a thunderous roar kicking up dust and debris. The barrier shattered. It saved Logan from being burned alive, but the impact was so intense that he was thrown away like a rag doll.
Boom!
Another explosion erupted the mont Logan’s body hit the ground creating a huge crater. Smoke curled up.
The human-faced creature rejoiced. The four creepy-looking monsters also exhaled relief. "Damn, that freak is finally done for." They all had the sa thought.
Ali and Noah stord toward Logan. "Kid, don’t you dare die on us like that." Ali’s battle-hardened heart panicked. Finally, he had found what he was looking for a long ti.
A hunter... Strong enough to strengthen the hunter’s side against the monsters. A hunter worthy to beco a beacon of light. But now seeing Logan in that condition, his heart was thudding heavily.
Noah’s face also looked grim.
They both sprinted toward Logan to see what condition he was in.
But before they could even reach Logan and check on his condition, they were stopped mid-way. All four minotaurs landed just in front of them. And without giving them any chance to even be startled, they all attacked...
All at once....
And from afar, the human-faced creature chuckled. "Where do you think you are going?!" Now with Logan out of the picture, it regained its composure. It believed, Logan was done for.
From a distance, another person was running toward the place where Logan had crashed. It was Luna. She wasn’t the only one. Gideon’s full party stord toward that direction...
Logan had only been with them for a short while. And yet, his presence had left a mark deeper than most who had fought beside them for years.
Luna’s chest heaved as she ran, her small fra darting between fallen hunters and rampaging monsters. Her eyes burned, not with fear, but with desperation. "Aiden..." she whispered, her voice breaking against the chaos.
Behind her, Gideon’s party surged forward. Gideon himself roared, fire and air swirling violently around his fists. Ronald’s spear sparked with lightning, carving arcs through the air. Jessi’s water surged like twin serpents, fangs ready to strike. lissa, bloodied but unyielding, clenched her fists as fire warped faintly around her. They weren’t going to let Logan fall... not when he had given them so much.
But the wyvern was waiting.
Its monstrous wings stretched wide, its molten eyes glaring down at the oncoming party. With a guttural growl, it slamd its claws into the earth, sending tremors racing through the battlefield.
And then.....
Fwoooosh!
A river of fire erupted as the wyvern exhaled, sweeping across the path Gideon’s party was charging through.
"Scatter!" Gideon bellowed, slamming his palms together. A wall of compressed air burst outward, splitting the flas, but the sheer force sent him skidding back. Ronald dove to the side, rolling across the ground as his spear thrumd with lightning. Jessi raised a wave of water, clashing against the fire with a hiss of steam that scalded her arms. lissa gritted her teeth, anchoring herself and Luna with a sudden gravity pull, dragging them out of the inferno’s reach.
Boom!
The explosion of fire and water shook the battlefield, sparks raining down like molten stars.
And then....
The wyvern ca again.
It thundered forward on all fives, a mountain of scales and muscle, each stomp rattling bones. Its wings snapped once, sending a hurricane gust that toppled hunters still fighting in the distance.
Luna’s knees shook, but she refused to falter. Her eyes stayed fixed on the crater where Logan had crashed.
"Hold it back!" Gideon roared again, his fist igniting in a swirl of fla and wind. Ronald leapt, his spear striking like a lightning bolt against the wyvern’s hide. Jessi and lissa cast in unison, water and fire colliding with gravity bursts, forcing the beast to halt for a mont.
But that mont was bought with pain.
The wyvern’s tail lashed out, smashing Ronald out of the air like a rag doll. Jessi shrieked as a shockwave burst from its wings, hurling her into a shattered wall. lissa coughed blood, but her gravity pulse held for one second longer... long enough for Gideon to drive a flaming punch into the wyvern’s side.
Boom!
The hit landed. But....
The monstrous creature was totally unscathed...
