The mont Min Chong's eyes fell on Logan, he did not hesitate for even a second.
"Everyone — no matter what happens, disrupt his cultivation!" he shouted.
The next instant, Min Chong shot forward like a bolt of lightning, rushing straight toward Logan. Behind him, the mbers of the evil spirit families surged forward as well, their figures blurring across the battlefield.
Earlier, when the dark clouds had gathered unnaturally in the sky, Min Chong had already sensed that sothing was terribly wrong. And now, seeing Logan sitting in a lotus position beneath those very clouds, already freed from the Chong family cell, his suspicion instantly turned into certainty.
This had to be related to Logan. And Min Chong knew exactly what it was.
'He's refining the blood essence.' A cold light flickered in Min Chong's eyes. 'If he inherits the legacy before I can trap him with the Puppeteer's Hand Technique, everything will be lost.' Min Chong told himself as he rushed toward Logan. 'At that point, there will be no way to control him anymore. The only option left... will be to kill him.'
anwhile, seeing the mbers of the evil spirit families charging toward them, Chianxu staggered back a step. Panic filled her eyes. "M.. Mister... how long will it take?" she asked urgently. "It's now or never."
"He will be finished any mont now," Zola replied calmly.
Chianxu clenched her fists so tightly that her knuckles turned white. "If those people reach here before Logan finishes... can you please help him?" she asked anxiously.
Zola shook his head. "No. I cannot interfere with any matters in the Lower Realm."
Chianxu froze. "W... What do you an by that?" she stamred. "Are you saying... you're from the Upper Realm?"
Zola glanced at her. "No," he said casually.
"I am from the Immortal Heaven."
Those few simple words struck Chianxu like a bolt of thunder. 'Im... Immortal Heaven?'
Even inside her own mind, the words trembled as she tried to process them. But Chianxu didn't have much ti to do that before a thunderous roar tore through the air.
"Stop right now, boy! Or I won't hesitate to kill you."
Chianxu instinctively looked up.
Zola's gaze shifted slightly — but he made no move.
Logan didn't budge either.
Min Chong was already there — closing the distance with everything he had. His figure cut through the air like a falling teor.
His gaze briefly swept past Zola. He had noticed him the mont he arrived. But Min Chong felt no resistance from the man.
As for Chianxu… she was there, yes. But in his eyes, she wasn't even worth considering.
She couldn't match him. Not even in her dreams.
His fingers stretched toward Logan, ready to strike...
But before he could reach him, another furious shout erupted from behind. "Die, you bastard!"
A sword tore through the air.
Min Chong instinctively twisted around.
Soone had leapt high into the sky. The blazing sun behind him cast his figure into shadow, hiding his face completely.
But Min Chong didn't need to see it. 'Damn you… Feng Dao,' Min Chong cursed inwardly and prepared himself for what was coming.
A sharp whistle split the air as the sword descended. Feng Dao had poured every ounce of his strength into this attack. The blade rushed forward like a streak of light, tearing through the air.
Min Chong quickly clasped his palms together. His fingers ford a circle. Then he slowly pulled his hands apart, as if stretching that circle outward.
An invisible wall instantly materialized before him. "Mountain Clasher," he whispered.
BAAAAM!
The sword slamd into the invisible barrier.
A violent explosion of dust and energy burst outward.
The ground beneath Min Chong's feet cracked as his legs dug deeper. Yet his body didn't move even an inch. "Stop him! Guardians… quickly!" Min Chong shouted while his gaze locked onto the three Chong family guardians not far away.
The barrier trembled violently, on the verge of shattering.
But at that mont, the three guardians sprang into action.
One of them leapt forward and delivered a powerful kick to the clashing sword. The impact knocked the blade away.
Only then did Min Chong finally let out a breath of relief.
After burning the Blood Essence, Feng Dao's strength had increased by leaps and bounds. No one knew how long that terrifying boost would last. But everyone knew one thing.
Right now…
No one wanted to face him.
Min Chong imdiately turned back and lunged toward Logan again. At the sa ti, the remaining two guardians were already charging toward Feng Dao to stop him.
Feng Dao did not look bothered. He didn't even flinch.
He clasped his hands together and ford the familiar seal once again.
Then...
"Blinding Flare!" he shouted.
A deafening explosion erupted. Just like before, a burst of blinding light spread across the area, rendering everyone's eyesight useless for a brief mont.
But the explosion didn't stop Min Chong. His fingers were only a hair's breadth away from Logan.
Logan still sat frozen in his lotus position, completely imrsed in his refinent.
Chianxu saw this. She couldn't help but rush forward. With a desperate cry, she thrust both fists forward in a double-handed strike, aiming to stop Min Chong. Even if it was only for a second — no, even less than that, she had to give everything she had. Logan was their last hope. According to the mysterious man before her, he would wake up any mont now.
But painfully…
Her speed wasn't enough.
She could only watch helplessly as Min Chong closed the final distance. For a mont, it felt as though ti itself had slowed down.
Min Chong's fingers finally reached Logan.
They clasped tightly around the front of Logan's tunic, ready to yank him out of his ditative state.
All the while...
Zola still hadn't moved.
A victorious chuckle spread across Min Chong's face. "Got you," he said.
But before that chuckle could fully form...
A powerful hand suddenly wrapped around his throat. "Not so fast."
