Hearing what Alice Turner just said, Thomas Fisher’s originally serious face relaxed imdiately. He tried to hold back his laughter, but he simply couldn’t, and let out a chuckle: "Pfft!"
"Why are you laughing? Was what I said just now that funny?" Alice rolled her eyes at him and playfully slapped his arm, "Annoying! Stop laughing, or I won’t go to dinner with you."
She pretended to be angry, pulling a face and glaring at the man driving.
Thomas quickly suppressed his smile, instantly putting on a serious expression, "Okay, I won’t laugh anymore."
But as soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly laughed again.
"Thomas Fisher! You’re still laughing, aren’t you? Then I..."
"I’m laughing because being with you makes happy. I’m not laughing at you, how could I laugh at you? My head wasn’t slamd in a door." Thomas interrupted her before she could finish speaking, turning his head to glance at her, explaining the real reason he couldn’t stop laughing.
Alice wasn’t angry in the first place; she was just pretending. Her heart wasn’t that petty, and besides, he hadn’t done anything to make her genuinely mad.
"Your head definitely wasn’t slamd in a door, I can vouch for that, because it’s filled with water," she turned to him with a smug smile.
"You little rascal! You tricked ." As soon as Alice spoke, Thomas realized he’d been fooled by her. He gave her a sidelong glance, flashing a doting smile, "As long as you’re happy, say whatever you want, act however you like."
Her smile made him feel like a warm spring breeze was washing over him. He wanted to see her smile always: a happy smile, a joyous smile. Her laughter made him happy too, made him feel blissful.
"I’m not that capricious anymore." In Alice Turner’s mind, acting on a whim ant being capricious, and to her, being capricious was really not fitting. She had never been that type of person since childhood.
Hearing this, Thomas couldn’t help but turn to look at the woman beside him, "You can be as capricious as you want with , I allow it."
He could tell that she wasn’t the kind of woman who loves to throw little tantrums capriciously. He wanted her to express herself freely, to throw little tantrums, but she simply wouldn’t do that.
"Who needs your permission?" Alice glared at the man driving with mock annoyance, then changed the topic quickly, "Stop talking nonsense and focus on driving, I’m starving."
When she was busy, she didn’t notice it, but now that she had so downti, the hunger hit her hard, her stomach almost growling.
"Got it, we’re almost at the restaurant."
Thomas didn’t say any more nonsense, focusing on driving just as Alice suggested. His eyes were fixed on the road ahead, not moving randomly anymore.
After the car sped along for a while, it finally stopped at the entrance of a restaurant.
As soon as the car stopped, Alice opened the car door and got out, standing by the car waiting for Thomas. Once he got out, she linked arms with him and walked into the restaurant together.
Now that she was divorced, she could hug him whenever she wanted, hold his hand whenever she wished. She didn’t have to worry about people seeing them and gossiping anymore, and it felt great.
Thinking this, Alice tightened her grip on Thomas’s arm. Feeling her hand’s strength, he raised his other hand to hold the one she had on his arm, "What’s wrong? You seem a bit off today."
