Athena Linton was more doubtful than trusting in her heart. Without considering anything else, the re fact that she’s transferring schools in her senior year is full of suspicions. From the beginning, she felt this matter was not logical.
"It’s true." Serena Zimrman saw through Athena Linton’s disbelief, but she could only nod affirmatively and say it’s true.
"Mom! You should just tell the truth, okay? What’s really going on here?" Athena Linton always felt there was sothing fishy about the whole thing. It just didn’t seem as simple as her mom made it out to be. She had to get to the bottom of it; she couldn’t just leave Golden Morning so cluelessly.
Serena Zimrman still insisted that what she said was true and didn’t lie to Athena Linton. "Everything I just said is true."
She held on tightly, refusing to easily let go.
"I don’t believe it, and if you’re not honest with , then I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay right here in Golden Morning, by you and Dad’s side." Athena Linton was convinced there was sothing off, and she was determined to stand up to her mom. If her mom wouldn’t be honest, she wasn’t going to attend school in Fla City.
Seeing this, Serena Zimrman knew Athena Linton’s stubbornness was kicking in. She understood her daughter well; once her stubbornness takes hold, no one can change her mind.
"Why are you being so stubborn, child? Just go already, why keep asking so many questions." She still didn’t want to tell the truth, not wanting to reveal those things.
"How am I being stubborn? I just want to know the truth, that’s all." Hearing her mom say that, Athena Linton beca even more sure that sothing unusual was going on, but she still couldn’t figure out how transferring schools was related to what happened on New Year’s Eve.
In her heart, she wondered if sothing had happened to her dad, making her transfer schools at such a critical ti in senior year.
"Mom! Just tell the truth already. I’m eighteen now, I’m an adult. I’m no longer a little child who knows nothing." To press her mom for the truth, she emphasized her age quite heavily.
Upon hearing this, Serena Zimrman took a close look at Athena Linton, realizing her daughter had indeed grown up. She had overlooked this fact earlier.
She had always treated her daughter like a child, not realizing that gradually her daughter had beco a young woman. She shouldn’t be using the sa approach she did when Athena was a child.
"Our Athena really has grown up, it’s always been Mom who got it wrong." Serena Zimrman patted Athena Linton’s head and, after sighing, continued, "Since you’re already grown and an adult, I’ll tell you. But promise you won’t get worked up when you hear it."
She didn’t continue imdiately, instead, she fixed her gaze on her daughter, seemingly waiting for her reaction.
Wanting to hear the truth from her mom as soon as possible, Athena Linton didn’t give it much thought and imdiately nodded, "I promise I won’t get worked up, Mom! Just hurry up and tell ."
She was becoming a bit impatient, urging her mom to speak quickly.
This ti, Serena Zimrman didn’t make Athena Linton wait any longer. As soon as Athena’s words faded, she began to recount the story of Autumn Gower coming to their house today. She didn’t go into much detail but summarized the key points and main gist of the matter.
"The ’dream guy’ told his mom we were dating? Why would he say that? Isn’t he just deceiving his mom?" Athena Linton didn’t understand why Grant Heath would say such a thing. Serena Zimrman had only ntioned Autumn Gower’s visit and hadn’t yet had the chance to talk about the romantic entanglents between Grant Heath, Easton Hols, and Lily Turner.
