Henry Thompson and Amber Wood’s reaction was too intense, leaving Lily Turner a bit puzzled. Didn’t Jenny York say she was going to marry him because she was pregnant? But the current situation seed to be entirely different.
The Thompson family didn’t know Jenny York was pregnant, and there was no talk of marrying because of a child.
The things Jenny York said that day were all lies, and if the marriage was fake, could the pregnancy be real?
Lily Turner had serious doubts about this, but whether it was true or false, what did it matter to her? She no longer had any relationship with Henry Thompson.
"Whether it’s true or false, you should be asking that woman, not wasting ti asking ." Even if he asked until dawn, she couldn’t tell him what was real and what was fake.
Lily’s angry reminder made the emotionally charged Henry Thompson suddenly calm down. Once cald, he flung away the hand holding her arm and quickly turned to leave.
The sudden revelation left all four adults in silence.
"Mr. Thompson! Let’s go too."
Amber Wood hadn’t wanted to co here from the start, but she feared and couldn’t defy Charles Thompson. Now that such a situation had suddenly arisen, she felt it was the best opportunity for a turning point, one she couldn’t waste.
Charles Thompson looked at Christopher Turner and Sophia Wood individually, and finally fixed his gaze on Lily Turner, "Lily! Tell your uncle the truth, is there really no possibility between you and Henry?"
Whether that woman was pregnant or not didn’t matter to him; what he valued and acknowledged was this daughter-in-law.
"Yes!"
Lily Turner nodded firmly. From the night she found out Henry Thompson had cheated with Jenny York, she had already made this decision.
"Mr. Thompson! The crux of this matter isn’t with Lily, but with your son Henry." Christopher Turner, who hadn’t said a word until now, suddenly spoke up, and with just one sentence, he implied much more. The innuendo was very clear, and the other four people present heard it as well.
Christopher Turner’s deliberate reminder made the recently despondent Charles Thompson suddenly see hope again, and he nodded in agreent: "You’re right, I’ll go back and talk to Henry, have him end things with that woman completely."
Saying this, without waiting for a response, he stood up abruptly and simultaneously walked around the coffee table to his wife’s side.
"Let’s go!"
Charles Thompson’s voice was soft and gentle, but his words carried enough weight to be undeniable.
What appeared to be a turning point in the situation suddenly reversed again in an instant. Amber Wood felt a bit resentful towards Christopher Turner for turning everything around, and without expression, she glanced at him before following Charles Thompson out the door.
"Mr. Thompson! Let see you out."
Christopher Turner got up to see them off, while Sophia Wood didn’t follow to see the guests out. Having held in a bellyful of anger earlier, she now needed to vent it, or she felt she would go crazy with rage.
"You brat! What did you an just now?" Sophia Wood walked over to Lily Turner’s side, angrily pushed her, "I’m not your biological mom! What are you really thinking?"
As she spoke, she pushed Lily Turner again.
"Would a real mom push her own daughter into the fire pit? Would a real mom help outsiders bully her own daughter? Would a real mom reprimand her daughter when she needed care and comfort the most?"
What Sophia Wood did tonight made Lily Turner both angry and sad. Before, she only thought her mom was tough on her out of disappointnt, but tonight she realized that was not the case at all.
