Staying at Callix Linton’s place has helped Lily Turner avoid Alia Linton’s entanglent, but she doesn’t feel completely at ease, with too many thoughts weighing on her mind.
Even though she tries her best to hide it, the two n in the house, both old and young, are sharp and both have noticed sothing’s off.
After dinner that day, when Lily went to help Aunt Li wash the dishes, Callix called Easton Hols to the living room. As soon as they sat on the sofa, he imdiately asked, "Did you have a fight with Lily?"
He sounded uncertain and lacked confidence.
"Grandpa! Do I look like soone who would fight with his wife?" Instead of answering, Easton asked back, leaving Callix, who was sitting not far beside him, dumbfounded.
"Then why does Lily look so preoccupied? Don’t tell you haven’t noticed at all." Since he’d noticed, he didn’t believe his grandson hadn’t. Callix turned slightly and looked at his grandson.
Easton could more or less guess Lily’s concerns, but he couldn’t tell his grandpa—the old man’s getting on in age, and Easton didn’t want him to worry too.
"She might be worried about not getting pregnant soon and fears you’ll beco anxious, Grandpa."
That girl doesn’t want to have his child at all, or she wouldn’t secretly take pills behind his back.
"I am eager to have a great-grandchild, but I haven’t directly pressured you both." Callix entirely believed Easton’s explanation, without any doubt, and even defended himself a little.
Not having been questioned by his grandpa, Easton felt a sense of relief. Just as he was about to say more, Lily walked in, and he tilted his head to look at her as she approached.
"Honey! Co sit down and take a rest."
Easton patted the spot beside him, signaling her to co over and sit. She walked over calmly and gracefully sat down next to him, exactly as he hoped.
Once she sat down, Lily responded belatedly, "I didn’t do anything; Aunt Li just pushed out of the kitchen."
She just wanted to help out, but as soon as she put a dish in the sink, Aunt Li ca over and unceremoniously pushed her out of the kitchen.
"Aunt Li is afraid you’ll take her job; from now on, just focus on being my wife and leave everything else to others," Easton half-joked, though his tone was more toward the joking side.
Lily chose to ignore the latter part of his statent, only letting the first part sink in. She lifted her hand and gently slapped the man next to her, "Nonsense! How could I possibly take Aunt Li’s job? I just don’t want to freeload entirely."
She hadn’t spent a di of her own money on food nor done any work. She was, essentially, freeloading at this house.
"Who says you’re freeloading? You’re now..." Easton suddenly leaned in close to Lily’s ear and continued in a low voice, "You’re working with on creating a baby, and I’ll be the first to confront anyone who says you’re freeloading."
After speaking, he quickly kissed her cheek. By the ti she reacted, he had already sat up straight.
"Easton Hols! You..."
Lily was about to pounce on Easton to settle accounts when she suddenly noticed Callix still sitting nearby. She quickly stopped and turned to Callix, "Grandpa! Easton is bullying ."
