The person ringing the doorbell outside was Alia Linton. Her coming here right after Evelyn Taylor was no coincidence but rather the result of a prearranged plan between the two.
Evelyn took the lead, and Alia followed up as a substitute, forming a temporary partnership.
Seeing the daughter who suddenly arrived, Callix Linton was not too surprised. His reaction was indifferent, lacking the enthusiasm one might expect when seeing one’s daughter.
"Dad!"
Seeing her father just looking at her indifferently, without any intention of speaking to her, Alia Linton felt a bit embarrassed. She walked over and sat down beside her father.
Callix Linton glanced at his daughter who sat down beside him, then turned his gaze to the nutritional supplents on the coffee table. "When Evelyn cos, she at least knows to bring sothing. And what about you, coming here empty-handed?"
He wasn’t interested in the items themselves but valued the sentint, which his daughter seed to lack entirely.
No! It wasn’t that his daughter lacked sentint, but that her sentint was all focused on that father and son.
"I was in a hurry this ti and forgot. I’ll make up for it next ti for sure." Alia Linton had noticed the nutritional supplents on the coffee table as soon as she walked in, knowing they were from Evelyn, but hadn’t expected Callix to make an issue out of it.
"Hmph!"
Callix Linton gave Alia a cold snort and then said no more.
Seeing this, Alia hurriedly scooted closer to Callix and tugged at her father’s sleeve. "Dad! Please don’t argue with over this, Evelyn is still here."
After speaking, she tugged at her father’s sleeve again, signaling with her eyes for him to give her so face.
"If you want to talk, then talk. Don’t pull on my clothes."
Callix ignored the look Alia gave him, pulling away the hand gripping his sleeve. "Go ahead, what is it this ti?"
He knew his daughter very well—she wouldn’t voluntarily co over unless there was sothing up.
If he guessed correctly, it had to be about his grandson and granddaughter-in-law again.
His daughter wouldn’t give her any face, and Alia’s expression clearly showed so displeasure. But seeing as it was her father, she couldn’t say much.
"I’m here because of Easton and Lily Turner, Dad! You should persuade Easton to leave that woman nad Turner." Afraid her father might cut her off, she hurriedly said what she wanted to.
Having anticipated this, Callix wasn’t the slightest bit surprised or shocked, given they had fiercely debated this issue before. He didn’t even want to get angry anymore.
"As my daughter, you haven’t been up to par at all, and as Easton’s mother, you’re even less qualified." He stared unblinkingly at his daughter sitting beside him, looking like he was lanting her failings. "You’re nearing sixty, haven’t you learned anything?"
Having her request brusquely rejected by her father and being well-reprimanded in front of others left Alia feeling not only humiliated but also deeply hurt emotionally.
"Dad! You’re really muddle-headed. That woman..."
"Alia Linton! It seems your eyes are truly blind, to not see what a good girl Lily is." Callix interrupted her before she could finish, calling her by her full na.
