Under the deliberate threats and warnings of Callix Linton, Alia Linton and Evelyn Taylor left dejected and unwillingly.
Lily Turner thought she could finally have so peace, but the next morning, she received a call from Sophia Wood.
"What’s up?"
Due to the recent unpleasant events, Lily still harbored resentnt towards her mother on the other end of the line. Her tone and attitude were not very friendly.
Although Sophia couldn’t see Lily’s expression over the phone, she could hear the deep resentnt in Lily’s voice, but she chose to ignore it for now.
"I’m waiting for you at the gate of the Military District Compound, co out imdiately." Sophia’s tone was equally matched with Lily’s, surpassing her even in intensity.
"Where are you?"
Lily didn’t ask because she didn’t hear clearly, but because she was extrely surprised and alard. She jumped up from the sofa with her phone, startling Callix Linton who was sitting not far away.
"What’s wrong?"
Since Lily didn’t address her mother when she answered the call, Callix Linton didn’t know who was on the other end or what had happened.
Seeing her so startled, he guessed that sothing bad must have happened.
Hearing Callix’s voice, Lily realized he was still sitting nearby and quickly covered the phone’s mouthpiece with her finger.
"Nothing."
After saying it was nothing, she left the living room with her phone and headed straight to the door.
"Who was that man speaking with you just now?"
Sophia heard Callix’s voice. Although she didn’t know who the man was, she could tell it was an elderly gentleman.
Lily walked briskly, opened the door, and stepped outside before removing her finger from the mouthpiece, "The person you saw online a few days ago."
"The old man you called grandpa?"
Sophia figured it was the man she had seen, but she wanted to confirm again.
"Yes!"
Lily didn’t deny it and didn’t try to hide anything because she knew that denying it now would be useless.
"You silly girl! What do you an, recognizing soone as your grandpa? Your real grandpa would be so angry he’d climb out of his grave." Sophia roared on the other side of the phone. Lily could tell her mother was here to pick a fight today, but she wasn’t surprised, having gotten used to this over the years.
Being used to it didn’t an she wasn’t angry or hurt.
"I didn’t randomly call him grandpa. He’s my husband’s grandpa; even if my grandpa knew, he wouldn’t be mad." Lily didn’t have a deep impression of her real grandfather, as he passed away when she was very young.
"Husband?!" Sophia took a deep breath to calm herself, then continued, "You better co out and see , or I’ll call the reporters over."
Sophia’s words were filled with threats. Lily stared in disbelief, unable to make any sound for a long ti. It was a while before she found her voice again.
"Wait there, I’ll co to see you right away."
This wasn’t what she wanted to say at that mont, nor was it what she wanted to do.
Oh my God! How could she have a mother like this?
Lily was very frustrated and saddened as she hung up the phone. She sighed deeply before heading back inside to tell Callix Linton where she was going, then left to et Sophia Wood.
