Easton Hols held Lily Turner with one hand and a phone in the other. He managed to take the call and hold onto her without missing a beat.
Lily Turner didn’t know who he was talking to; he barely spoke, and she only heard him say two sentences: "Is it done? Make sure he keeps his mouth shut."
"Can you let go now?"
Easton had just taken the phone away from his ear when Lily reminded him again to let her go. However, he acted as if he hadn’t heard her, still holding her tightly. "Easton Hols! If you don’t let go, I really won’t make it in ti, not to ntion you have to rush back to the Military Departnt for work, too."
If he didn’t care about her being in a hurry, he should at least care about his own affairs.
Easton just silently glanced at Lily, not reacting to her words at all. He held onto her and headed toward the restaurant.
Seeing this, Lily beca so anxious that she couldn’t care about anything else, stepping in front of Easton to block his way. "Easton Hols! Aren’t I talking to you? Let go!"
She yelled at him, struggling to shake off his hand.
"Don’t get so worked up. Let’s go eat."
Despite being yelled at by the woman in front of him, Easton wasn’t angry at all. He raised a hand to touch her cheek, then bypassed her to continue holding her as they moved toward the restaurant.
Being repeatedly obstructed by Easton, Lily was so frustrated she didn’t even know what to say, yet her little strength wasn’t enough to stop him. She felt angry, anxious, and helpless.
As they approached the restaurant entrance, Lily’s phone rang. Surprisingly, before she could say anything, Easton let go of her hand and walked into the restaurant without another word.
Watching Easton’s figure disappear from sight, Lily slowly withdrew her gaze and took out her phone from her pocket. She glanced at it.
Seeing Freya Yeager’s na displayed on the phone, she didn’t dare to hesitate and quickly answered the call.
"Fre—"
"Lily! What on earth is going on with you? This opportunity to be on JN Television’s ’Intimate Partners’ is your best chance to increase your visibility. How could you tell Manager Xu you’re not going?"
Before Lily could call out Freya’s na, she was interrupted by Freya Yeager on the other end, sounding incredibly exasperated.
Freya’s words left Lily completely baffled, having no idea what was happening. "Freya! What are you talking about? I don’t understand a word!"
When did she call the boss? Ever since she received the news in the morning until now, not to ntion calling anyone, she hasn’t even touched her phone.
"What do you an you don’t know? How is that possible? Manager Xu just called , saying you phoned him to cancel your participation in ’Intimate Partners.’ How could you do this?"
"If you’re not happy with as your manager, you might as well tell Manager Xu to replace . There’s no need to play gas with like this."
"Do you think you’re all that just because your fa has grown? I’m telling you, if you keep this up with your willful actions, I can’t promise what will happen to you."
Freya spoke a lot in one go, and the more she talked, the more emotional and angry she beca. She had to take several deep breaths to calm down a bit.
Agreeing to go in person, then secretly calling to refuse, she thought Lily Turner was just feigning ignorance with her.
Now she felt a sense of powerlessness. Previously, Lily Turner obeyed her in everything, but now Lily did many things without her knowing and even refused the work she painstakingly arranged for her.
