Upon reaching the first floor, Easton Hols placed Lily Turner down and ignored the person knocking outside. He pulled her towards the direction of the dining room.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
The person outside might have been getting anxious. They knocked on the door once again, but it was more like they were banging on it.
"Aren’t you going to see who it is?"
Just now, Lily Turner noticed that Easton Hols’ expression had turned very unpleasant. Now, with the knocking resounding again, his face looked even more displeased than before.
She had no idea who was knocking outside, but judging by his reaction, he probably knew and felt that this person was very unwelco.
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
As Lily Turner and Easton Hols were speaking, the knocking sounded again. This ti, it was louder and more forceful than the last two tis.
Easton Hols’ handso eyebrows furrowed tightly, and his stern face darkened, "You eat by yourself. I’ll go check it out."
After hurriedly instructing Lily Turner, he turned and strode towards the door.
Lily Turner instinctively wanted to follow, but as she lifted her foot, she heard Easton Hols say, "Go eat. This has nothing to do with you here."
The foot she just raised fell back to the ground after hearing his words. However, she did not follow his advice to eat. Instead, she stood quietly in place.
Perhaps driven by curiosity or concern for him, after he walked away, she tiptoed and followed.
"You...you are ho?"
After a few steps, Lily Turner heard Alia Linton’s voice. She was about to listen more closely when she heard the sound of the door closing.
Assuming Easton Hols had shut Alia Linton out, Lily Turner quickly walked two steps towards the door, only to find the entrance deserted, without anyone in sight.
Did he go out?
Lily Turner quickly walked to the door and lightly leaned against it to look through the peephole. She saw Easton Hols and Alia Linton standing not far outside, appearing to argue about sothing.
Their emotions seed intense, and their faces looked particularly unpleasant.
Due to the door’s excellent soundproofing, even as Lily Turner pressed her ear against it, she couldn’t hear what they were arguing about.
She peered through the peephole again and saw them quarreling more fiercely. She secretly opened the door a crack.
The mont the door opened, the sound of Easton Hols and Alia Linton’s argunt seeped through the crack.
"The child in her belly might not even be yours; she must get rid of it."
"I know whether it’s my child or not. You needn’t ddle."
"I’m ddling? I’m doing this for your own good."
"I thank you."
Hearing this, Lily Turner finally understood what was going on. She sighed mournfully to herself. Ah! Is she really that bad? Does his mother despise her so much that she would stoop to such insults?
Thankfully, she’s not pregnant yet. If she were, with his mother’s viciousness, her child might suffer even before being born.
"If you want to completely sever ties with the Hols Residence, you can continue causing a scene here."
Easton Hols’ voice carried a threat as it ca from the doorway. Lily Turner quickly pulled herself from her thoughts. As she looked up, she saw Easton Hols turning and heading back inside.
Watching as the man outside got closer, she hurriedly shut the door, turned, and walked briskly towards the dining room.
