Easton Hols’s reaction to this matter was too calm, completely contrary to Lily Turner’s expectations. Besides disappointnt, she also felt sowhat angry.
"I’m going back to my room."
She refused to go downstairs to eat with him out of spite, even though she was already starving.
"I’ve already eaten. Let’s go downstairs and eat." Easton Hols didn’t let go of Lily Turner’s hand, pulling her to continue walking downstairs, but she struggled to return to her room. He bent down and picked her up sideways, saying, "You didn’t eat last night. If you don’t eat today, your stomach will feel uncomfortable."
With that, he carried her downstairs.
Lily Turner wanted to refuse going downstairs with Easton Hols, but seeing the situation, any further refusal would be futile. She reached out to wrap her arms around his neck to prevent them from tumbling down the stairs together.
"That’s a good girl!"
Seeing the woman in his arms settle down, Easton Hols praised her without thinking, but his praise only earned him a roll of the eyes from her. He smiled at her, "You look cute like that too!"
Not only did her eye-roll not make him the least bit unhappy, but he also smiled and complinted her cuteness.
Lily Turner didn’t pay any more attention to the man, lowering her head to look at the stairs. She had better watch the steps to prevent him from accidentally missing one.
"Don’t worry, I won’t drop you."
Seeing her eyes fixed on the stairs, Easton Hols knew what she was worrying about. He whispered reassuringly in her ear.
Upon hearing this, Lily Turner looked away from the steps and turned her head to Easton Hols. "Stop talking and just focus on going downstairs."
If she could, she’d prefer to jump down and walk herself. Being carried downstairs like this made her feel anxious.
"You don’t trust that much?"
Easton Hols looked at Lily Turner in his arms, startling her so much that she broke out in a cold sweat. Her hands, which were around his neck, instinctively grasped the collar of his shirt, pulling it too tightly, causing it to choke his neck.
"Lily! Are you trying to throttle your husband?"
He moved his neck, signaling for her to loosen her grip on his collar.
Lily Turner initially didn’t understand what Easton Hols was saying, but when she saw him moving his neck, she suddenly realized she had accidentally strangled him with his shirt collar.
"Put down and that wouldn’t happen."
Even though she said that, she loosened her grip on his collar.
With his neck free again, Easton Hols let out a long sigh of relief, but he didn’t put her down as Lily Turner suggested. He continued carrying her downstairs.
Bang, bang, bang!
As they reached the first-floor stairway, a loud knocking suddenly echoed through the house.
"What’s happening?"
Lily Turner was startled by the sudden knock, looking towards the direction of the door, then turning her gaze to the man holding her, "Who’s that? Making such a racket."
To dare make such a commotion at his ho, that person must have so nerve.
It couldn’t be his grandfather, then could it be his mother?
Easton Hols looked quite composed, showing no sign of being startled. His lips curled into a cold sneer, "An unexpected visitor!"
His voice carried no warmth, and his face was similarly devoid of any, covered by an icy facade.
"Unexpected visitor?"
Lily Turner didn’t believe Easton Hols’s words at all. She turned her gaze towards the door, eager to see who this unexpected visitor was.
