After chatting with Easton Hols that night, Lily Turner didn’t ask him about Evelyn Taylor anymore, and he didn’t bring her up again either.
The Taylors’ parents hadn’t co to the house again, and Evelyn hadn’t appeared in front of her either. Everything seed to have settled into peace.
This peace didn’t last long; the appearance of two people broke the calm.
"What are you two here for?"
Callix Linton’s smile vanished instantly as he faced Fabian Hols and Alia Linton, darkening as he questioned them with a sullen face.
Although Lily Turner didn’t know Fabian Hols, she could guess who he was; his eyes and eyebrows were so similar to Easton Hols’s.
He was Easton Hols’s father, her father-in-law whom she had never t.
Was their sudden visit to drive her out again?
As Fabian Hols walked over, he inconspicuously glanced at Lily Turner sitting next to Callix Linton. Without guessing, he already knew this was the "little vixen" his wife had ntioned.
"Can’t we just co to see you?"
Seeing Callix Linton’s unwelcoming deanor, Alia Linton was both angry and hurt. She walked over briskly and pushed Lily Turner aside to sit in that spot herself.
Seeing this, Callix Linton’s face grew even darker, and his tone was anything but polite, "She’s carrying my precious great-grandchild, so show her so respect."
As he spoke, he angrily glared at Alia Linton, who had sat beside him.
"I’m still your daughter, can’t you show so respect?" Alia Linton was also angry, her tone equally unpleasant.
Callix Linton didn’t care at all about whether Fabian Hols and Lily Turner were sitting nearby; he retorted imdiately, "Respect is mutual. If you want others to respect you, you first have to be respectful to them."
After speaking, he glared again at his daughter, who seed to be deliberately looking for trouble.
"Dad..."
Alia Linton wanted to say more, but seeing the tense situation, Fabian Hols, sitting by, interrupted her, "Dad! How’s your health?"
In the heat of the mont, he suddenly asked this.
"Thanks to you all, I’m quite healthy, can live another eighty years without issue." Callix Linton’s words were thick with resentnt, and the other three in the room sensed it.
"Dad! Can you speak to us nicely? Every ti you treat us like this, what exactly makes you so dissatisfied?" Every eting was like this; she could understand him treating her that way as his daughter, but it was also like this with his son-in-law.
They had indeed made so mistakes when they were young, but they’ve changed now, and so many years have passed. Why couldn’t he let it go?
Alia Linton was very dissatisfied with Callix Linton’s attitude towards her and Fabian Hols, and she firmly expressed her objections.
Hearing this, Callix Linton curled his lips indifferently, "So you know I speak unpleasantly? You know my attitude towards you is bad? You know my actions make you uncomfortable?"
He asked three questions in succession, each more cutting than the last.
"We’re not kids; how could we not tell whether sothing is good or bad?" Alia Linton quickly retorted, completely missing the point Callix Linton was trying to make.
Fabian Hols understood what Callix Linton was trying to convey, but before he could speak, Callix Linton cut him off, "You’re adults now, yet still so naive. I truly worry about your future. How did you get through all these years?"
