Alice Turner had so much she wanted to say to Sophia Wood, but given the current situation, she felt it wasn’t the right ti. The most important thing right now was to get her mom to go ho.
"Mom! We can talk about this later. Right now, you have to co ho with . Dad just called ; he wants to co ho to discuss sothing." While saying this, she leaned over to open the front passenger side door of the car.
"Your dad called you to discuss sothing? What does he want to discuss with you?" Sophia initially thought Alice was trying to coax her into going ho, but seeing Alice’s expression, she felt that wasn’t the case. Her mind started to race with worry.
Alice didn’t imdiately answer Sophia’s question; instead, she gently nudged Sophia, who was standing by the car door, and said, "Let’s talk in the car."
Her main goal was to get her mother ho; other matters could wait to be discussed.
"I have my own car."
Sophia raised her hand to point at her car parked nearby, making it very clear that she was refusing to get into Alice’s car.
"You can take my car ho, and I’ll call a driver to drive your car back." As Alice was saying this, she pulled out her phone from her pocket. Just as she was about to make the call, Sophia took the phone from her hand.
"There’s no need for a driver; I’ll drive myself back."
Sophia could easily see through Alice’s real intentions. Her daughter just wanted her to go ho.
However, she needed to go to the hospital first. Until the matter was resolved, she had no peace of mind to do anything else.
Alice was worried that once Sophia got in the car, she would still head to the hospital. They weren’t far from the hospital, and she couldn’t just watch as that happened.
"One car is enough for the two of us." After a pause, she added, "Mom! Are you worried the driver might run off with the car? Don’t worry, I’m hiring from a reputable company."
She knew that wasn’t Sophia’s concern, but she deliberately twisted the fact, trying to divert the topic.
"I am not worried about that, I..."
"Mom! Dad is waiting for us to get back and discuss things. Let’s hurry ho, or else he’ll call to urge us again when he doesn’t see us."
Before Sophia could finish her sentence, Alice cut in and ntioned her dad once more. She wanted to use him as an excuse to persuade Sophia to go ho with her.
Her intention was clear: to dispel Sophia’s idea of going to the hospital and eventually have a good talk at ho, hoping to settle the matter today.
Alice’s deliberate prompting caused a change in Sophia’s mindset. Now, she was unsure whether to go back ho or continue to the hospital; she couldn’t afford to delay either.
"Mom! Lily and Easton have already gone back. I just saw them leave the hospital myself." Seeing Sophia starting to hesitate, Alice imdiately pushed harder. To make Sophia believe her, she tried to speak in a calm yet firm tone.
Upon hearing this, Sophia’s eyes widened, "That troublemaker already left the hospital?!"
She wasn’t questioning Alice’s words but was surprised by the situation Alice described. Despite her rush, she missed the opportunity and wasted this chance.
"Yes! They observed her overnight, and since there were no issues, the doctor allowed her to go ho and rest." Seeing Sophia had no doubts, Alice continued to lie.
