Christopher Turner ca back early, much faster than Alice Turner had expected. She thought her dad would co back early, but she didn’t expect it to be two whole hours ahead of schedule.
"When did you get here?"
Seeing Alice Turner open the door for him, Christopher felt a bit surprised, but at the sa ti, he was delighted.
He ca back at just the right ti, so now he doesn’t have to wait until noon.
"I just got here not long ago."
Alice Turner stepped aside to let the person at the door co in.
Christopher took a glance at his daughter and strode into the house. Once inside, he instinctively looked towards the living room, "Is your mom not at ho?"
"My mom is in the living room."
Alice Turner closed the door and followed Christopher back to the living room.
Seeing Christopher return, Sophia Wood was quite surprised, "Why are you back?"
He usually doesn’t co ho at noon, so this was unusual. She felt there must be sothing she didn’t know.
"There wasn’t anything important at the company today, so I ca back," Christopher said calmly, as if it really was just as he said. He walked in and sat down on the sofa in a composed manner.
Hearing her dad say this, Alice Turner wanted to give him a thumbs up. His ability to lie was truly profound; his tone was calm, his expression was natural, you couldn’t tell he was lying at all.
If she didn’t know there was more to it, she would have believed him.
Sophia Wood had shared a bed with Christopher for nearly twenty years and they understood each other well. Although he spoke naturally, she felt he wasn’t telling the truth.
"I’ll have Aunt Hua prepare the dishes."
Sophia didn’t dwell on whether Christopher was telling the truth or not; so things are best kept to oneself, saying them out loud would ruin them.
Alice Turner stopped Sophia, who was about to get up to find Aunt Hua. Alice herself got up quicker, "Mom! I’ll go."
Before she had finished speaking, she stepped out of the living room quickly, as if afraid soone would hold her back if she went slowly.
"Since Alice is here today, you should also call Lily back. It’s been a long ti since our family ate together," After Alice walked out, Christopher retracted his gaze and turned to look at Sophia, who was sitting not far to his right.
Sophia paused for a mont before saying, "I’ve not been able to reach her on her phone for a long ti. I can’t get in touch with her."
Lately, Sophia had frequently called Lily, but every ti she called, she only heard the ssage that the phone was turned off.
She didn’t know that because of the pregnancy, Easton Hols had taken Lily’s phone away. Unaware, she thought Lily had blocked her, and thus felt a lot of resentnt toward Lily.
"How can it be unreachable? Let try."
Christopher took his phone from his pocket and opened the contact list, found Lily’s number, and without hesitation, dialed it imdiately.
"Sorry! The number you have dialed is powered off, sorry..."
"The phone is turned off!"
"Whose phone is turned off?"
When Alice Turner ca back in, she happened to hear Christopher say the phone was turned off at the door and asked imdiately.
"Lily’s phone is turned off."
Holding the phone, Christopher pointed at Alice who walked in and said, "Try to get in touch with Lily and have her co ho for dinner."
Just because he couldn’t reach her doesn’t an she couldn’t. The sisters were so close; there must be so way of contacting her that he didn’t know about.
