Benjamin Shaw took out his phone from his pocket and saw that Christopher Turner was calling. He hesitated for a mont, but although he was reluctant, he finally answered the call.
"Hello!"
Even though the person on the other end was his father-in-law, he felt as if the caller was a stranger, and he unconsciously sounded a bit distant when he spoke.
"Benjamin! Why don’t you and Alice co by the house tonight? Alice’s sister and her brother-in-law Easton Hols are coming over, and you should join in on the fun."
Compared to Benjamin Shaw’s cold and distant deanor, Christopher Turner was enthusiastic and familiar, and he deliberately ntioned Easton Hols’ full na to ensure Benjamin and Alice would co by the house.
What he didn’t know was that his two sons-in-law had been good friends for over ten years.
Over the phone, Benjamin Shaw could sense Christopher Turner’s flattery, so he purposely raised his voice and said, "Oh, Alice’s sister and brother-in-law Easton Hols are going over, but I’m busy tonight."
That guy wanted the father-in-law’s phone call just to go to the Turner Family house tonight. Although Benjamin didn’t know exactly why that guy was going to the Turner Family, he knew that guy must have sothing serious to do.
He didn’t want to join the fun just to avoid being resented by that guy for getting in the way.
"Oh, I see. I was hoping the three of us could have a drink tonight, but I guess we’ll have to do that another ti." Upon hearing Benjamin Shaw’s words, four words popped into Christopher Turner’s mind: "ungrateful." However, he didn’t express it and just sighed with a hint of regret.
Christopher Turner didn’t deliberately avoid it when he sighed; the sigh was transmitted through the phone into Benjamin Shaw’s ears. Following his lead, Benjamin also replied regretfully, "I guess that’s how it is then."
Why would they need to go to the Turner Family to drink with their good friends? They could drink anywhere.
"Well, you take care of your business then. I won’t disturb you any longer."
Christopher Turner felt he had said enough; it was only that Benjamin Shaw didn’t appreciate the gesture to co to their ho, and he wasn’t worried about any bla in the future.
"Okay!"
Benjamin Shaw responded affirmatively and, without any hesitation, hung up the phone.
After hanging up, he turned around and walked out of the room. As he passed the kitchen on his way out, he instinctively glanced inside.
At that mont, Alice Turner was standing at the counter, chopping vegetables with focused attention, completely unaware of Benjamin Shaw passing by the doorway.
Bang!
Hearing the sound of the door closing, Alice instinctively turned her head to glance outside the kitchen, but she imdiately turned back and continued her task.
After working in the kitchen for nearly two hours, a sumptuous lunch was finally laid out on the dining table. Looking at the delicious dishes, Lily Turner sincerely praised, "Color, aroma, and taste all in one! Sis, you could definitely beco a professional chef."
As she spoke, she gave her sister a thumbs-up.
"Stop the flattery and just sit down and eat." Alice Turner tapped Lily’s hand that was giving a thumbs-up, then pressed her down into a chair, "If you think it’s good, do a favor and eat a little more."
With that, she sat down in the chair next to her sister.
"I definitely have to do you that favor."
What you eat doesn’t matter, nor does how much you eat. What matters is who you’re eating with, as als are also about the mood.
Lily Turner was very happy now, and she thought every dish looked good. But thinking they all looked good, she didn’t know which one to start with first.
"These dishes are for eating, not just for looking," Alice Turner reminded as she saw Lily staring at the dishes but not moving her chopsticks.
