When Michael Linton rushed to the hospital, Fabian Hols, who had received the news, was already waiting at the door of the ward. Seeing his brother-in-law hurrying over, his nerves imdiately tensed, and he perked up with utmost vigilance.
"You’re here!"
At the mont the distance between them closed in, Fabian asked in a low voice.
Michael rely glanced at his brother-in-law who greeted him, then silently bypassed him, pushing the door open to enter the ward.
Seeing his brother-in-law’s indifferent attitude, Fabian knew he must be angry and dared not slack off at all, imdiately following him in.
By the ti he followed inside, Michael had already reached the bedside, bending over to carefully watch Alia Linton lying in bed.
Sister really was asleep, seeming to sleep very deeply.
But why were her eyebrows knitted tightly?
Michael instinctively reached out to touch Alia’s furrowed brow, trying to smooth it out, but after several attempts, he was unsuccessful.
"Why is my sister in the hospital?"
Michael asked abruptly, surprising Fabian who stood across from him. He slowly straightened up, looking at his brother-in-law opposite, silently noting his previous reaction.
Fabian let out an almost inaudible sigh, easing his tense nerves a bit before responding, but before he could utter a syllable, Michael waved him off, "No need, I’ll ask the doctor."
Fabian was truly shocked by these words; his brother-in-law didn’t trust him at all.
Fabian was very much self-aware, knowing that Michael didn’t believe him. Recalling all the lies he had told over the phone earlier, Michael felt it was best to ask the doctor himself, not wasting ti hearing more fabrications.
"You..."
"Stay here and take care of my sister, there’s no need to follow ."
Fabian just wanted to say that there was no need to go, he could explain the situation, but was once again stopped by Michael waving him off.
After that, under his watchful gaze, his brother-in-law strode out of the ward, not sparing him a single glance throughout the process.
After Michael left the ward, Fabian and Michael were left alone in the room once again, the atmosphere reverting to its original state, yet he himself couldn’t return to his previous state.
Standing by the bed, his eyes tightly fixated on the ward’s door, his face showed tension, as well as worry.
Clatter!
Hearing the door open, Fabian instantly stood up straight, ready to face whoever ca in, having prepared himself in advance for questioning and bla.
However, the person who walked in was not who he expected, Michael, but his eldest son, Easton Hols, whom he hadn’t seen in a long ti.
He seed to beco foolish all of a sudden, staring blankly at the eldest son who walked in, not speaking or making any noise, just watching as his son moved closer and closer.
Easton only glanced at his father Fabian after entering, then hurriedly shifted his gaze away, directing it to the bed, where Alia Linton imdiately ca into his view.
Just like Michael’s feeling when he saw Alia, Easton also felt that Alia’s deep sleep was abnormal, noticing her furrowed brow.
However, unlike Michael, Easton didn’t reach out to smooth Alia’s furrowed brow. The thought crossed his mind but swiftly passed.
Bam!
Upon hearing the forceful sound of the door being opened, the father and son standing on either side of the bed instinctively turned their heads toward the door.
