Christopher Turner sat facing Sophia Wood, and the sudden glint of tears in her eyes was sothing he noticed imdiately.
Unaware of the situation, he was sowhat confused and asked, "Why are you crying? Lily has now found such an excellent husband, you should be happy."
He reached for the box of tissues on the coffee table and handed it to her.
Sophia Wood didn’t reach for the tissue box Christopher Turner handed over; instead, she stood up and left the living room, heading to the bathroom.
As soon as she entered the bathroom, she could no longer control her tears and leaned against the door, crying without reservation.
Aggrieved, sad, remorseful, self-reproachful, angry...
At this mont, all these emotions surged into Sophia Wood’s heart, and she turned them all into tears.
Knock, knock, knock!
It was unclear how much ti had passed when suddenly there was a knock at the door.
"Ma’am! Miss Lily and Mr. Hols are here."
The knocking sound was followed by the voice of Aunt Hua.
Due to what happened last ti, Aunt Hua didn’t dare to refer to Easton Hols as the second son-in-law while reporting.
Upon hearing Aunt Hua say that Easton Hols and Lily Turner had arrived, Sophia Wood quickly wiped the tears off her face, took a deep breath to calm her emotions, and responded to the person outside the door, "I understand."
Having just cried, her voice carried a thick nasal tone as she spoke.
Through the thick door, Aunt Hua heard Sophia Wood’s nasal reply and sensed sothing was wrong with her. However, mindful of her position, she dared not say anything.
After softly responding, Aunt Hua turned to report, but the mont she turned to leave, she suddenly saw Lily Turner standing not far away. She instinctively stopped in her tracks, "Miss Lily!"
When had Miss Lily followed her over? She hadn’t heard a sound.
"Is my mom inside?"
Lily Turner gestured towards the bathroom door and took a big step forward, closing the distance between herself and the bathroom.
Aunt Hua nodded, informing truthfully, "Ma’am is inside."
"Then you should go ahead and do what you need to do."
Upon knowing her mother Sophia Wood was in the bathroom, Lily Turner decided to send Aunt Hua away. She needed to discuss many things with her mother and would feel uncomfortable asking with others around.
"Yes."
After responding, Aunt Hua tactfully left in big strides.
A short while after Aunt Hua left, the bathroom door opened.
The mont the bathroom door opened, both people inside and outside were left stunned, frozen in place.
In the end, it was Sophia Wood inside who spoke first, but it was just idle chit-chat, "You’re here."
As she spoke, she walked out of the bathroom.
"Are you... alright?"
Though Sophia Wood washed her face before coming out, her eyes were still red, and her voice still carried a nasal tone. Lily Turner could tell at a glance that she had just been crying. Not knowing what had happened, Lily’s heart was suddenly filled with worry.
Upon hearing this, Sophia Wood quickly shook her head, "I’m fine."
She reached out, wanting to hold Lily Turner’s hand, but at that mont, she hesitated. After a mont’s hesitation, she finally put down her hand.
"Mom! I’m sorry!"
On her way here, Lily Turner had thought of many things to ask Sophia Wood, but at the mont she saw her, what was left was a deeply felt apology.
