"Sophia Wood! Where's your daughter Lily?"
The person who showed up was Amber Wood. At this mont, she appeared ready to confront, not even bothering to address Sophia as her in-law, directly using her full na, and her tone and attitude were anything but friendly.
Seeing the situation, both Sophia Wood and Alice Turner knew clearly that Amber had seen the information online, and she was here to settle accounts with their family. It seed today was the day to settle both old and new scores.
"My dear in-law! Please co in and have a seat first."
Because Lily Turner had called off the engagent not long ago, Sophia Wood felt sowhat guilty. Even though she was displeased with Amber's attitude, she had no choice but to greet her with a smile.
Sophia's attempt at friendliness did not change Amber's attitude. She remained unfriendly, marching over to the couch and sitting down, "Where's your daughter Lily?"
The matter of Lily Turner and the mysterious investor was sothing Amber had accidentally co across online today. After reading the news, she was furious and imdiately drove over to the Turner Family's house.
"My sister is not at ho."
While Sophia Wood was still thinking about how to respond to Amber, Alice Turner had already spoken up.
Amber did not doubt this, but turned to Sophia Wood with an unfriendly look on her face, "Your daughter isn't here, so I'll ask you. What's really going on between your daughter Lily Turner and that mysterious investor? Have the two of them been involved for a long ti?"
"Aunt Amber! Our Lily doesn't even know that mysterious investor," Alice Turner interjected once again before Sophia, this ti with a not-so-pleasant tone, especially emphasizing when she called her Aunt Amber.
Amber instantly picked up on Alice's displeasure towards her. Shifting her gaze, she looked at Alice Turner, who was seated beside Sophia, "Not knowing soone doesn't cause so much trouble, does it? Would a stranger invest two billion in her? It's not like money is burning a hole in their pocket."
After speaking, she curled her lips in disdain.
"Aunt Amber! That two billion was an investnt in the production crew, not in Lily personally." Alice saw the disdain on Amber's lips and felt a surge of anger, but since Amber was still an elder, it wasn't appropriate to be too blunt.
Amber had convinced herself that what was revealed online was true, and no matter what Alice said, she believed Alice was just making excuses for her sister.
"Investnt in the production crew? Hmph!" Amber snorted coldly, "Who would believe that?"
"You..."
As Alice Turner was about to dispute Amber's words again, Sophia motioned her to stop, giving Amber a discontented look for slandering her sister. She leaned back against the couch.
Sophia Wood slightly turned towards Amber, looking her straight in the eye, maintaining a composed yet firm attitude, "My dear in-law, let's not jump to conclusions so soon. Whether Lily has done such a thing, I believe the truth will co out soon enough."
The company was already conducting an investigation, so the truth must be close. She wanted to shut these people up with the truth; she could berate or scold her daughter herself, but no one else would.
"From now on, don't call in-law anymore. Your daughter Lily recently ca to our house to call off the engagent." Amber actually didn't care about the truth behind the matter; she only used it as an excuse to completely settle the matter between Henry Thompson and Lily Turner.
