Sophia Wood was only considering the feelings of the four adults, completely overlooking Alice Turner’s feelings at the mont. The words she just said made Alice feel very uncomfortable.
"Did you consider our feelings when the four of you forced the two of us together back then?" Alice couldn’t hold back and imdiately retorted. This question had been bottled up in her heart for a long ti; she had long wanted to shout it out.
The mont these words were out of her mouth, Sophia was at a loss for words for a long ti, and Alice thought she must have upset her. She quickly apologized, "Mom! Please don’t be angry. I didn’t an to target you, I just..."
"I’m not angry with you, I’m just reflecting on myself." Sophia really wasn’t angry. Hearing Alice’s retort, she was montarily stunned.
She had only thought about their feelings as elders, completely ignoring the feelings of the younger generation. The two of them were forced together by the four elders.
The four of them claid it was for the two young people’s own good, but they never asked if this kind of good was what they really wanted or needed.
Disregarding the feelings of the two of them, the four only cared about hastily forcing them.
Hearing that Sophia wasn’t angry, Alice slowly felt relieved. Knowing that Sophia was reflecting instead of speaking, she felt a different kind of discomfort in her heart, "Mom! Don’t overthink. I didn’t an to bla you; I was just venting a little emotion."
She really didn’t an to bla the person on the other end of the phone, she just couldn’t help blurting those words out.
She knew clearly that when it ca to the forced marriage, the main issue lay with her dad, and her mom was just an accomplice.
"I know, and I understand you," Sophia said. After hearing Alice’s words, her intention to persuade her disappeared instantly, "You and Benjamin can handle your matters as you see fit. I won’t force you anymore, nor will I in the future."
She had gone through youthful love herself and had experienced relationship matters all the way through.
Sophia now started to regret forcing Alice to marry Benjamin alongside Christopher Turner. If it had been her own daughter, Lily Turner, would she have done the sa?
She couldn’t think of an answer right now. She didn’t know if she would do the sa, but she thought she would definitely hesitate.
"Mom! Thank you for understanding."
Alice wasn’t being pretentious with Sophia; this thank you ca from the bottom of her heart. She knew her mom wasn’t as stubborn and unreasonable as her dad, and now she had more confidence to divorce that man.
Upon hearing this thank you, Sophia didn’t feel all that good. She felt she hadn’t fulfilled her duty as a mother, "Saying that makes feel a bit ashad."
She wasn’t being modest, nor pretentious; she truly felt this way in her heart.
"Mom! Don’t be like this..."
A new call suddenly ca in, and Alice instinctively moved the phone from her ear to look at it. The call was from Benjamin Shaw.
Seeing the new call was from Benjamin, her first reaction was he was calling to arrange their divorce. She imdiately put the phone back to her ear, "Mom! I have sothing to handle now, so I’ll stop for now. We’ll talk later when we have ti."
