Hearing Benjamin Shaw say there was a call coming in, Alice Turner thought it was true and worried it was a call from Thomas Fisher. She imdiately walked over to Benjamin not far away.
Buzz buzz buzz!
Before she could reach him, she heard her phone ringing, and her steps instinctively quickened.
"Give ..."
The word "phone" hadn’t even left her mouth when she saw Benjamin pick up the call, her heart skipped a beat, and she stopped in her tracks.
"Enough already! My ears are about to grow calluses because of you." This call wasn’t from Thomas Fisher, whom Alice was worried about, but from Charlotte Shaw who had just called.
Seeing it was his sister calling once again, Benjamin picked up the call without hesitation, and when he spoke, he was even less polite.
Hearing Benjamin say this, Alice finally realized it was Charlotte calling, and her heart, which had just been in her throat, instantly settled down. She stood not far behind him and didn’t continue to move forward.
On the other end of the line, Charlotte flared up upon hearing Benjamin’s words, "Benjamin Shaw! What kind of attitude is that? If you weren’t my brother, I wouldn’t bother with you."
Her brother was so ungrateful that she was almost driven mad.
"Just treat like I’m not your brother," Benjamin retorted stubbornly, though his tone and attitude were noticeably less harsh than before.
Through the phone, Charlotte could obviously sense her brother’s change; her anger gradually diminished but still needed ti to extinguish completely, "You little brat! I’ll pretend I didn’t hear what you just said. If I hear you talk to like that again, you’d better watch out."
Saying such things to her was simply outrageous.
"If you have more to say, just say it now. Don’t call again after I hang up because I don’t have ti to listen to your rambling." Benjamin didn’t talk back anymore but instead reminded his sister to quickly say everything she needed to say in one go because he didn’t want to stay on the call with her for too long.
Not knowing the situation on this end, Charlotte was annoyed at Benjamin’s urging, "Why are you in such a hurry to hang up? What do you have to do after this?"
Her tone wasn’t so amiable because she was still a bit irritated.
"What do you think I’m going to do?" Benjamin cryptically replied to his sister on the other end.
Upon hearing this, Charlotte imdiately countered, "If you don’t say, how would I know what you’re going to..."
She suddenly stopped mid-sentence, mistakenly thinking that her brother was eager to spend ti with his sister-in-law.
Thinking of that, a happy smile appeared on her face, and she decided not to continue chatting with her brother, planning to hang up and give him and his sister-in-law so ti.
"Alright, I’ll stop here today. I won’t bother you and Alice anymore, I’m hanging up," Charlotte finished on her own and very consciously hung up the phone.
This situation was deliberately created by Benjamin, and seeing Charlotte hang up, a faint smile appeared on his lips.
He took the phone off his ear and turned to return it to Alice, who was standing behind him.
