Chapter 292: Inside The tro

Jane and Minos remained silent on the ground, their gazes lifeless.

Rael had spent little ti and effort training them; instead, he pitted them against weak monsters with unique attack patterns.

Obviously, he took the ladder route.

Rat, skeleton, dragon.

They didn’t literally fight a dragon though, only an oversized bat.

But as he glanced down at the two exhausted siblings, it looked like they might as well have fought a dragon.

Rael let out a sigh, taking a peek at the tir.

Still a bit of ti left, he mused, crouching down beside them.

“Another bat is flying in, prepare to—”

Like seasoned veterans, the two siblings shot to their feet, one holding a staff, the other gripping a sword in one hand.

But once they realized no bat was in sight, they let out a relieved breath.

“Good.” Rael nodded. “Now that you’re all rested up, what do you say we start moving into the tro? Do you have any food?”

Jane shook her head. “Not enough to survive in there.”

“I have so.” Minos extended his hand and pulled out a bag of chips from seemingly nowhere.

But both Rael and Jane simply stared at him as if he was the biggest idiot in the world.

“Man…” Rael muttered, rubbing his temples in frustration. “If you had an inventory… why didn’t you say anything!?”

“Huh? Don’t you two have one as well?” Minos asked with a tilt of his head.

“Of course not,” Jane replied. “If we had one, then we wouldn’t even be having this conversation right now.”

“Oh…”

“How much can you store?” Rael asked urgently. “Is it 50 slots?”

“20,” Minos said. “B-But I can stack items… so if you give 50 bags of chips, they’d only count as one slot.”

Rael paused, staring at Minos as if he was his lord and savior.

“Good…” he muttered. “We’re going to fill you up. Get ready…”

Rael humd in satisfaction as he walked beside the two siblings.

Looting 10 different stores was satisfying, but realizing Minos’s inventory could stack endlessly was even better.

So as it stood, they had gathered hundreds of all kinds of foods, making sure they’d be able to survive for as long as possible.

Yet the only constraint was ti.

But Rael didn’t regret it.

Spending ti with them and teaching them how to fight was definitely worth it in the long run.

And as for when food runs out, I can just… Rael trailed off, letting out a sigh. No, I can’t just buy food through the premium shop… but maybe one of those monsters is edible? Rats maybe…?

He put that on the back burner for now as he approached the broken escalator and stepped down into the darkness.

That darkness didn’t last long as Jane raised a hand, conjuring a single shard of glowing ice that she rotated around the three of them, illuminating the dark tro.

Then, sothing unexpected happened.

The lights that had been embedded in the tunnel walls lit up, paving the path forward.

Rael put his guard up and continued walking, the siblings doing the sa.

A few minutes later, the tir finally ran out.

“World expansion…? Really?” Rael mused. “Like this hellhole wasn’t massive already.”

“7 days inside the tro… should we just find a place to hide?” Jane suggested. “Because if we group with the others, then there might be so problems…”

Rael looked her up and down.

“We can do that, sure. But I don’t think we can avoid eting them first.”

He pointed ahead to where an opening had appeared.

Beyond it were several hundred people, perhaps even thousands.

And this was just one of the many tro tunnels. He could only assu what it was like in the other hundreds of tunnels.

Still…

Rael walked forward with his shirt tucked in, hiding all his visible injuries so as not to show any weakness.

But even so…

“Pfft… what’s that?”

“Looks like two cripples.”

“Well no shit, right? I an, look at their belts. That belt that woman has is worth more than my truck…”

Rael listened to their comnts silently.

This tro tunnel opening was very wide, and it seed to have been pre-packed with all sorts of survival materials.

Tents, cooking stations, and even a water filter.

The walls were cracked, yet lit by a soft, unnatural light.

Yet the strangest of them all was the sword rack off to the side, which was nearly empty by now.

It was almost as if whoever had sent them into the tro wanted them to fight to the death.

But Rael didn’t want any of that. He just wanted to go past them and back into the tunnels so he could find a cozy spot to rest for a week.

After all… my injuries are healing way too slowly, he thought. Even after an hour… my HP barely increased.

HP: 127/310 → 155/310

I really need more Constitution. Recovering barely half a point of HP per minute just isn’t it.

As he was expecting to walk by the people without any interruptions, one of them stood up.

It was a tall and bulky man, and it seed like instead of Rael, his malice was aid at the two siblings.

“Heya, I see you got an interesting belt there. Nice shoes too. Mind sharing?” the man asked with a crooked grin.

Seeing where this was going, Rael sighed, drew back his leg, and without hesitation, sent a kick straight at the man’s balls.

But the mont he did that, the rest of the goons who were gathered around imdiately got up with condescending gazes.
