"Clarissa?" The familiar voice made Clarissa Taylor’s body stiffen, completely ruining her good mood from shopping with her daughter.
Clarissa turned to look at the approaching mother and daughter, feeling nothing but disgust in her heart.
"Mom." Ophelia Wilson greeted Clarissa awkwardly upon seeing her.
"You don’t need to call that, I’m not your mom. Isn’t your mom right next to you?" Clarissa huffed, realizing all these years she never truly understood Ophelia.
Ophelia was quite the actress, having put on a show for the family for so many years, deceiving them for so long.
Ophelia’s eyes turned a bit red at Clarissa’s words, her aggrieved look really did tug at one’s heartstrings.
Chaya Davis, seeing her daughter being bullied, patted Ophelia’s hand silently to comfort her, then turned to Clarissa and said, "Back then, it was a mistake at the hospital, it wasn’t Ophelia’s fault. Why are you angry with her?"
"For so many years, Ophelia has always seen you as her biological mother. How can you be so heartless, to just disown her like that?" Chaya criticized Clarissa.
Clarissa was never good at verbal spats.
She was so angry her face turned red, but the words that ca out of her mouth were only two: "Shaless, shaless..."
Sophie Wilson, seeing this, realized her mom wasn’t up to the challenge and it seed she had to step in.
"Chaya Davis, I heard you’ve moved into the Wilson Clan’s residence?" Sophie stepped forward, pulling Clarissa behind her, and said with a smile to Chaya, "If you care so much for your daughter, why didn’t you take her to your ho? Instead, you moved into her ho? Oh, wait, that’s not her ho, it’s the Wilson Clan’s... which is a lot wealthier than yours."
Chaya’s affairs were her own business, but having Sophie say this so directly made her face burn with embarrassnt.
She was just about to speak when Ophelia discreetly gave her a tug.
"Ophelia, my mom just wants to be with . And I can’t leave the Wilson Clan; if I did, my grandparents would be heartbroken," Ophelia explained softly, taking the opportunity to flaunt to Sophie that she was more important in the Wilson Clan than Sophie was.
Sophie nodded slightly, then turned to Clarissa and said, "Mom, this is the first ti I’ve heard soone make vanity sound so refined and sophisticated. Indeed, an impressive actress."
Ophelia’s smile froze; why didn’t her words provoke Sophie’s anger?
If Sophie had lost control and exploded, it would have been more advantageous for Ophelia.
"Alright, mom, our ti is so precious, let’s not waste it on this... stuff," Sophie pulled Clarissa and said with a smile, "Let’s continue shopping."
Clarissa also recovered from her anger, nodded at Sophie’s words.
Indeed, why should she bother with such shaless people?
Chaya watched as Clarissa bought so many pieces of jewelry, her eyes turning red with jealousy.
Why did she have to spend decades with Jerry Taylor, the poor school teacher, living a ager life, while Clarissa got to be a wealthy lady?
Now that she was divorced from Jerry and living with her daughter, why was she still not as well-off as Clarissa?
None of her jewelry pieces were more valuable than Clarissa’s.
Even now that Clarissa had left the Wilson Clan and had fallen from grace, why could she still buy so much stuff?
"Clarissa, buying so much, are you not planning for the future?" Chaya exclaid, unable to resist "concernedly" asking, "You should really be spending your savings cautiously now, after leaving the Wilson Clan, you can’t be as extravagant as before."
