Lucy Wells was so terrified that her heart nearly stopped beating.
Various horrific events quickly flashed through her mind: being strangled, dismbered... The more she thought about it, the colder Lucy’s body felt.
She was not even thirty, her career was just beginning to flourish, and she had just started to provide a better life for her mom and grandma. She didn’t want to die.
Tears uncontrollably welled up, grievance sohow surpassing fear.
The man put Lucy’s phone to his ear and said, "Don’t call the police. I’m just looking to crash at your friend’s place for a night. Obey, otherwise..."
"Obey your head!" ca a direct scolding from the other end of the phone, "Kai Bright, are you out of your mind?"
The man stiffened, incredulously shouting into the phone, "Sophie?"
"Damn it, how could it be you?" Kai Bright was utterly shocked, it was unbelievably unexpected, okay?
"You jerk, hand the phone to Lucy!" Sophie Wilson was furious. Her phone had suddenly rung, and as soon as she connected, she heard soone threatening Lucy on the other end. Listening carefully, she realized that the jerk was actually her cousin. She desperately wanted to appear in front of Kai Bright right now and give him two slaps.
He was going to scare Lucy to death!
"Sophie?" Lucy Wells vaguely seed to understand that this person knew Sophie.
"Lucy, it’s okay. That jerk is my cousin. Don’t worry, he’s not a bad person, just a bit ntally off sotis," Sophie Wilson quickly explained.
Listening on the side, Kai Bright thought, "..."
How was he ntally off?
"Uh-huh..." Lucy Wells kept nodding, the warmth slowly returning to her.
Sophie Wilson chatted with Lucy Wells for a while longer, and only then did Lucy calm down: "Sophie, I’m okay now, I was just scared earlier. I’ll take Mr. Bright to the hotel now and call you once we get there."
"Alright," Sophie Wilson responded, finally hanging up the phone.
Lucy Wells looked at Kai Bright.
Kai Bright imdiately put on a rather handso smile, "Sorry to bother you."
"Um, can you walk by yourself?" Lucy Wells hesitantly asked, as she noticed the sll of blood.
"I can, but did you bring perfu?" Kai Bright asked with a smile.
Lucy quickly found her perfu and handed it to Kai Bright, who sprayed it on himself a few tis to mask the scent of blood.
Only then did the two start heading to the hotel. Kai Bright was obviously having difficulty walking, showing so effort.
However, this level of injury was still bearable for him.
Suddenly, his arm tightened, as soone held him up.
Kai Bright looked incredulously at Lucy Wells, who was supporting him. Hadn’t she just been terrified?
"I’ll help you over, just pretend you’ve had too much to drink," Lucy Wells said, "Do you have an ID card?"
"Yes," Kai Bright smiled, taking out his ID card and handing it to Lucy Wells. Then, as they reached the illuminated entrance of the hotel, he leaned against her as if he was drunk.
It seed as though Lucy Wells was using all her strength to support him, but in reality, he was secretly applying force to walk himself.
After arriving at the hotel and completing the check-in, they went into Lucy Wells’s room. Kai Bright quickly entered the bathroom, and the sound of gushing water could be heard. Only then did Lucy Wells let out a long sigh of relief.
She then called Sophie Wilson to explain the situation.
Naturally, Sophie Wilson comforted Lucy Wells and chatted about other topics to divert Lucy’s attention.
