Ethan was completely stunned.
He was shocked by the news Jas Reed had revealed.
His wife and son had suffered so much without his knowledge; he had always thought he was protecting them well. Who would have thought it would be like this?
Hayley Cole gazed at Jas Reed with a pained expression, her heart aching as she listened.
Indeed, indeed, it was all due to reconstituted families. She too had a hard ti at the Cole Family!
However, Hayley Cole didn’t believe it was truly for Jas that Ophelia Wilson acted as she did. In her view, Ophelia Wilson was just soone who loved vanity.
Otherwise, Ophelia wasn’t even a daughter of the Wilson Clan. Why would she stick around and not leave?
"You, you all go up first." Ethan spoke, his voice dry and unpleasant, with emotions intertwined, squeezing his vocal cords to the point they could hardly vibrate. Even saying this one sentence seed to exhaust all his energy.
Hayley Cole couldn’t believe she turned to look at Ethan. Was he just going to let them go up like that?
"I’m sorry, Miss Cole, to have embarrassed you." Ethan’s head was spinning, but he still rembered there was a big figure beside him he couldn’t afford to offend.
"Did Jas really believe Ophelia Wilson?" Hayley Cole’s mind was still in a ss. She wasn’t very good at hiding her thoughts, let alone now when she was so emotional she couldn’t even control herself.
"Jas is just such a deeply emotional person. This kid... oh..." Ethan sighed deeply, unable to continue after saying half of what he intended, "Miss Cole, thank you for coming today. Knowing Jas got into trouble, you ca to see him. I thank you on his behalf."
"No problem. I’ll just head back first." Hayley Cole felt she should go back to calm down. Staying here, she didn’t know what to do.
"I’ll have the driver take you." After sending Hayley Cole off, Ethan called Charlotte Reed to the study and asked, "Charlotte, was what Jas said earlier true? Have you both been suffering so much all these years?"
"Don’t listen to him; there’s no such thing, it’s not true at all," Charlotte Reed denied unusually, forcing a laugh, which only convinced Ethan of Jas’s words.
"I’m sorry you had to suffer, it’s my fault for not noticing." Ethan spoke in distress, feeling he couldn’t even protect his own wife and children. Was he still a man?
Charlotte Reed sighed softly, "We’re all family, why talk like this? Now it’s about Ophelia, you see, Jas is so stubborn, what are we going to do?"
"This daughter-in-law is absolutely unacceptable!" Ethan said firmly, paused, rubbed his chin, and smiled cunningly, "However, Hayley Cole is pretty good."
Charlotte Reed took a sharp breath, "But Hayley Cole is Chairman Cole’s daughter, how could she be interested in our Jas?"
"What’s wrong with our Jas? He’s so good, why wouldn’t she be interested?" Ethan was wholeheartedly defending his son, and after he spoke, he reassured Charlotte Reed with a smile, "Don’t worry, didn’t you see how Hayley Cole rushed over the mont Jas got into trouble?"
"She’s already taken a liking to our Jas!"
Ethan laughed proudly, his son was just that excellent, and it was perfect to kick the morally corrupt Ophelia Wilson to the curb and marry Hayley Cole.
