After another mont of silence, the bird on the threshold continued its incessant chirping.
Flap, flap, seeing that the guards weren’t reacting, it flapped its wings and flew above their heads, calling out, “Idiots, idiots, a bunch of idiots.”
This caused a commotion among the guards. This bird could speak human words. Their formation was imdiately disrupted as they raised their heads in curiosity, examining the bird before them, realizing it was unlike typical birds, with an especially long tail and striking colors.
The guards instinctively wanted to catch it, so they ran back into the residence to fetch a long bamboo pole. However, as soon as they chased, the bird flew away, and when they stopped, the bird landed again, as if teasing them, exhausting the guards.
“Clip-clop, clip-clop!”
The sound of rapid hoofbeats echoed on the street, and a luxurious carriage slowly appeared before everyone.
The guards ceased their actions and hurriedly returned to their positions at the gate. This was the War Prince’s Mansion, frequently visited by many high officials and nobles eager to curry favor with the Prince. They were the mansion’s face and couldn’t be laughed at by outsiders.
