"It’s not good! Sothing has happened, sothing big!"
Commander Sun recounted the events at the palace gate to the Little Eunuch.
The Little Eunuch was troubled as well; the commoners gathering and causing unrest was indeed a major issue, especially at the gates of the Imperial Palace. Wasn’t that a sign of defiance against the Imperial Family?
"Oh my! What should we do? The Emperor hasn’t awakened; we can’t just wake him up," the Little Eunuch paced anxiously.
He didn’t have the courage to wake the Emperor.
So, the two of them paced back and forth at the entrance to the Emperor’s bedchamber, too anxious to wake the Emperor.
It wasn’t until near noon that the Emperor finally awoke.
"Xiao Shunzi, Xiao Shunzi."
The Emperor’s voice echoed from inside the bedchamber.
Upon hearing this, the two brightened up. Ah, great, the Emperor finally woke up.
"Eunuch, you need to inform the Emperor about this matter; it’s extrely urgent!" The Imperial Guard Commander reminded the Little Eunuch before he went inside.
The Little Eunuch nodded repeatedly, saying, "Commander, rest assured, I understand the importance."
"Xiao Shunzi, Xiao Shunzi."
The Emperor’s impatient calls echoed from inside the bedchamber again.
"Here I co!" The Little Eunuch dared not delay any longer and hurriedly went inside.
"Emperor, your servant is here!"
"Who were you talking to, and why did it take so long to co in?"
The Emperor, dressed in yellow undergarnt, sat by the Dragon Bed, his eyes sharp like an eagle, glaring at the Little Eunuch. Ever since the incident with the Fourth Prince, the Emperor’s suspicion had increased; he trusted no one, always feeling like soone was doing sothing nefarious behind his back.
The Little Eunuch’s shoulders drooped as he bowed his head, reporting in a shrill, thin voice, "Your Majesty, Commander Sun has arrived. He has urgent business with the Emperor and has been waiting at the bedchamber entrance all morning."
The Emperor furrowed his brows, asking, "Commander Sun?"
The Little Eunuch replied ekly, "Yes."
The Emperor questioned, "He should be properly guarding the palace gates. Why does he co here to see ?"
"Commander Sun said there is a major incident at the palace gate and has co to report to the Emperor." The Little Eunuch’s voice grew quieter, fearing that the Emperor would be furious upon hearing the news.
"What happened!" The Emperor stood up while ordering the Little Eunuch to assist him with dressing.
"The commoners sohow heard the news that the Fourth Prince was the one who caused the commotion. Early this morning, they’ve gathered at the palace gate, demanding the Emperor deal with the Fourth Prince." The Little Eunuch dressed the Emperor in the Dragon Robe and fastened the Gold Belt.
"What?"
The Emperor was taken aback; the incident that occurred at midnight yesterday had spread throughout the Capital so quickly. Who was behind this?
"Quick, summon Commander Sun." The Emperor couldn’t afford to delay any longer, sitting by the Dragon Bed, waiting for Commander Sun’s report.
"Emperor, you haven’t grood yet?"
"Ah, there’s no ti for that now. Hurry, let Commander Sun co in, I have questions for him."
"Yes, sir!" The Little Eunuch bowed and retreated.
Soon, he brought Commander Sun from the entrance: "Emperor, Commander Sun is here."
The Emperor acknowledged, "Hmm!"
Commander Sun knelt on the ground, performing the ritual greeting, "Your servant greets the Emperor, may the Emperor live ten thousand years."
The Emperor impatiently waved his hand, saying, "Stand up, what exactly happened?"
Commander Sun recounted the incident at the gate in detail to the Emperor. Upon hearing it, the Emperor’s complexion darkened, and he muttered angrily, "That damned War Prince, he must be the one behind this."
Commander Sun and the Little Eunuch exchanged bewildered glances, puzzled by what the Emperor ant by that statent.
The Little Eunuch cautiously asked, "Emperor, do you an...?"
The Emperor exclaid with anger, "Who else could it be if not the War Prince?"
