He wasn’t sure when Qin Kong would catch up, and he couldn’t be bothered with pointless chatter.
"What? A hooligan walking around with a gun?" Zheng Xiu stood up in surprise, another incident so soon after the one that just happened.
Despite his astonished tone and expression, the truth was that he had seen so much in his position that a small-ti hooligan brandishing a gun in public wasn’t that shocking. He knew these hooligans were mostly young brats indulging their curiosity and showing off, and they would lose interest after they had their fun. He had encountered too many of them over the years. While they might be a bit reckless and impulsive, they were not stupid and few had the guts to actually shoot soone.
However, he’d placed more importance on this now that Tang Qing was involved.
"Yes, his na is Qin Kong. He’s a frequent visitor to the police station, so he should be easy to recognize. I believe he’ll arrive in town before long, and I’m worried he might hurt soone," Tang Qing said slowly.
"Understood, I’ll arrange the arrest imdiately. Thank you, Little Tang, for supporting our work." Zheng Xiu responded. To him, a hooligan, even one with a gun, wasn’t a big deal. Even if convicted, the sentence wasn’t too heavy - a decade at most. They usually ca out sooner if they behaved well in prison and convincing them to give up their guns was usually easy, unless they were desperate.
"It’s nothing. It’s what we should do. I hope you’ll enforce the law impartially. I can’t enjoy the Chinese New Year with this guy around," Tang Qing added. He wasn’t sure how cases like this were classified and sentenced, but he believed that with Zheng Xiu’s influence, plus his own ’hint’, even if Qin Kong managed to hide the gun, Zheng Xiu could find a way to let him celebrate the Chinese New Year in peace.
"Haha, of course," Zheng Xiu laughed. It was clear from Tang Qing’s words that he knew Qin Kong and they had so kind of personal feud. No wonder Tang Qing chose to call him directly instead of dialling the police hotline. This was a minor issue to him and he was willing to do this favor for Tang Qing.
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, they ended the call.
Due to Tang Qing’s ’special attention’, Zheng Xiu prioritized this matter and imdiately gave instructions to Yang Quan, the Chief of Willow Town Police Station, to strictly capture Qin Kong and carry out the law.
Upon hearing Qin Kong’s na, Yang Quan imdiately recognized him. This was expected, given that the town was small and his ten-year tenure there. The hooligans were a handful and it wasn’t unusual to be familiar with a particular one. He hadn’t expected Qin Kong to stir up trouble during the New Year, especially as it ca through the ’complaints’ from the bureau chief himself. This prompted him to be fully alert and go after Qin Kong imdiately after he ended the call.
Like Zheng Xiu, he wasn’t scared of the gun given his dealings with these people over the years. However, they did need to be prepared, in case they underestimated the situation and things beca awkward.
Ten seconds after Tang Qing hung up, Qin Kong’s annoying voice ca from behind. "Tang Qing, you coward! Jiaxue, look, this is your childhood sweetheart." They were almost in town now, with more people and vehicles, so Tang Qing couldn’t drive too fast.
Without saying anything in response, Lin Jiaxue turned her head away. She knew the reason for Tang Qing’s speed as he didn’t keep his phone conversation from her.
The thought of having such a dangerous person nearby did scare her, causing her to grip Tang Qing’s waist even tighter. Normally, she would stand up for her boyfriend when soone insulted him. However, this ti she didn’t, choosing instead, like Tang Qing, to ignore Qin Kong. She knew that no matter what she said, he would interpret it as a complint and proceed to ramble on even more. Having to listen to him was already irritating enough, engaging in a conversation with him would have only made it worse.
Feeling the strength of Jiaxue’s embrace, Tang Qing patted her hand to reassure her. He couldn’t be bothered with a pest, like Qin Kong, who was about to be slapped away. It wasn’t that he was afraid but rather, Qin Kong’s father, a notorious gambler, was notoriously difficult in the local area. If Tang Qing and Qin Kong had a fight today, whether vocal or physical, and if the police found the gun as a result, the gambler-father would definitely bla him. He couldn’t very well deal with the son, then have to deal with the father seeking revenge next.
That would be farcical.
Like the saying goes, the greatest injury you can inflict on a person is to ignore them. It’s even worse than shouting at them or beating them up. Whereas those actions at least an that they’ve upset you, completely ignoring soone is to completely disregard their existence.
And so it went. Qin Kong continued to lavish attention on Lin Jiaxue while insulting Tang Qing. Seeing Tang Qing ignore him, he beca increasingly arrogant, missing just an iota of actually pulling out his gun and starting to shoot.
Within five minutes, the group had arrived at a more populated area. Tang Qing spotted a police car slowly approaching and a smile crept onto his face. The sharp-eyed police officer also spotted Qin Kong. It was impossible not to – the green and yellow rocket-shaped hairstyle was unmissable in a crowd, as conspicuous as a firefly in the dark.
The police officers in the patrol car located the target, drove a bit further and stopped in front of Tang Qing’s motorcycle. Three officers stepped out, one of whom walked up to block Tang Qing and Qin Kong’s motorcycles and said:
