"Hello, uncle!"
Nangong Chen introduced himself, and after asking Mu Siwu, he looked at Jiang Xue again and asked, "Did you save ?"
"Kind of!" Jiang Xue nodded. She was sort of half a lifesaver for Nangong Chen.
"Thank you!" Nangong Chen expressed his gratitude, but his gaze lingered on Jiang Xue, making her slightly uncomfortable.
Mu Siwu noticed Nangong Chen staring at Jiang Xue and said, "I don’t know if Mr. Nangong has family at ho, or contact information for them. You’ve been injured and will need to stay in the hospital for a while, soone needs to take care of you. Should I help you contact your family?"
"Thank you, uncle, but it’s not necessary. I can handle it alone." Nangong Chen refused with a smile. He had many family mbers, but only one truly cared about him.
And he didn’t want that person to worry, so he decided to recover here before doing anything else.
As for those who wished him harm, let them wait. Once he healed, he would deal with them one by one.
"Since you say so, let’s go with your decision." Mu Siwu had good intentions, but since Nangong Chen didn’t need help, he wouldn’t insist.
After Mu Siwu stopped ntioning contacting Nangong Chen’s family, he chatted with him for a bit longer before leaving with Jiang Xue.

But why was Jiang Xue not there when he went in?

Upon hearing the idea of returning to Xu City for the festivities, Mu Siwu and Bai Yuhua didn’t imdiately agree, and Jiang Xue didn’t press them. She understood that her in-laws had lived in the village for decades and probably preferred celebrating the New Year there.
After all, the countryside was livelier during the New Year.
However, Jiang Xue was worried about not having enough firewood at ho for the New Year, fearing it might be too cold if they ran out.
In the city, at least there was heating, which would be beneficial for the elderly couple’s recovery.
After contemplating for three days, Mu Siwu and Bai Yuhua gave Jiang Xue their final answer. They agreed to go back to Xu City for the New Year with her.
The elderly couple was relieved, and Jiang Xue was naturally overjoyed. She imdiately called Shangguan Wenbin, asking him to co pick them up when he had ti off from teaching.
Originally, Mu Qiancheng had instructed her to have Liu Yongfa drive to pick them up, but Jiang Xue thought it over and decided not to trouble Liu Yongfa, opting to ask Shangguan Wenbin instead.
