Sewers, places where… well, you know. Everyone knows what goes there, and every city has them. When a city of this caliber and size was abandoned and beca ruins, the sewers, well, they didn't go anywhere. They remained around, becoming worse over ti, like an underground and labyrinthian swamp.
The once flowing water was now still, covered with green plants. The sun sneaked through various crevices and openings leading to the surface, and there were a lot of frogs, bugs, and rats everywhere.
And deep within this labyrinthian underground swamp, there was sothing, where all the water swirled together, a concentration of pure darkness.
It constantly spun around soone, or sothing, covered with green algae and mold, trapped within the swamp's vegetation.
From that, a black sludge constantly poured into the waters, contaminating them with strange and alien powers, forming sothing… different, and bizarre.
Nearby animals that were caught by this sludge quickly began to suffer, groaning or screaming in agony as their bodies began to be torn apart and then remade.
A pair of crimson eyes glanced at the scene in silence, as a malicious smile erged beneath them, with sharp fangs.
"Yeah, that's good enough… Keep doing that! Spread a lot…"
He watched as the black sludge kept pouring from that person trapped within the swamp's vegetation and flowing waters.
The sludge constantly spread further, frogs, insects, fish, and mice, were all rapidly infected by it, transforming into sothing different.
"Good, if I can't get new Nightmare Seeds easily, I can just do this, right? Humans are sure amazing, they have so much putrid hatred inside of them~" laughed the Nightmare Demon. "Enough to keep a whole Nightmare Realm well fed with their traumas. Heheh… HAHAHAHA!"

Once the girls reached the deepest area, the bottom of the pit, they finally reached where they were heading, a place that… they didn't quite expect, it wasn't so kind of even more ancient ruins but the sewers of the once bustling city.
Nyx, Fran, and Alma landed over the walkable area at the side of the still waters, looking around, the two human girls made a disgusted face, the sll here wasn't the best, although Nyx was not bothered.
"This place's really the sewers? It is more like just a regular ol' swamp! I've visited these a couple of tis through my life, they're always fun!" Nyx said as she walked to the side of her friends, looking around. "I rember going to so dungeon that was a huge swamp with mom and dad, and we had so much fun there! But this place… It's kind of like a dungeon too, right? It's huge and like a labyrinth thing!"
"A Dungeon?" wondered Fran, tilting her head. "What do you an? Like this Nightmare Realm or is that different? Or dungeon from… from cartoons?"
"Uh, its kind of different!" Nyx said as she flew around with her little wings, noticing several pathways where they were. Thankfully, they wouldn't get lost as she could simply follow the presence of the person she's seeking. "But forget what I said… Let's keep going!"
"Where to? There are so many paths we could take, it's so confusing…" Alma said as she walked around, making sure not to fall into the water. "And it slls so bad… Ugh, do we need to do this? I-I don't even know these other people, Nyx…"
"But they're your friends, Alma! Emily, mama, and Sofia in specific, they really love you!" The little dragon girl said. "So abandoning them would be super cruel, they love you dearly and would do the sa for you as well!"
"R-Really?" Alma couldn't believe it. "Did I really made such great friends? But… I am not even soone deserving to have friends at all… I can't believe it…"
"Co on… Don't be like that Alma, why would I lie to you?" sighed Nyx.
Fran sighed, walking towards Alma and offering her a water bottle.
"Co on Alma, let's go together. I know it might be a bit hard to believe but haven't we seen plenty of crazy things?" Fran asked.
"M-Maybe…" Alma nodded. "Thanks Fran. And… sorry Nyx. I'll try to go along with you two but if I get tired…"
"Don't worry, snowman dad can carry you," said Nyx, winking at her. "Now let's go! I'm kind of excited! We're like an adventurer party now! Heheh!"
"A-Adventurer party?" Fran asked.
"Huh…" Alma muttered.
The two girls still found Nyx to be quite weird sotis, she was quite the quirky girl for sure, but maybe that was what ca with being a dragon and also coming from a fantasy-like world so outside of the norm they knew.
"Yeah! I'm the warrior… Snowman is the… the tank maybe? Snowdragon is the magician! And you two are… Um, I guess Fran is a Summoner with Snowman! And Alma…"
"I don't have powers…" Alma sighed. "D-Do I really get them once I grow up?"
"Yep you get a big blue staff with so spiritual powers," Nyx said. "Of water and then you can use ice! Originally you thought it was only good for healing and using barriers, but you found out you could use it offensively."
"H-Huh…" Alma muttered, surprised. "Wow… But I don't know yet… Why would I try to beco a Dream Warrior? My dad died in the battlefield… I don't want to beco one and die like he did…"
"T-That's… Uh, well, I dunno… You must have had new reasons!" Nyx said, nodding. "Anyways, who's hungry? Do you want sothing to snack on?"
"Do you have sothing healthy?" Alma asked. "I-I don't want chocolate or sothing… I'll only get fatter."
"You don't really look fat, Alma…" Nyx sighed. "But yeah, I got this for you. Mama said cereal bars are healthy!"
"Oh, that's fine with then!" Alma nodded, stealing it off Nyx's hand and rapidly beginning to eat it, taking big bites.
"Well, let's keep moving then, I can tell where we need to go so-"
SPLASH!
As Nyx was speaking, however, sothing jumped off the swamp sewer water right next to them.
"RIBBIT…!"
The girls gasped, stepping back.
"A huge frog?!"
