Han Jianyou was almost smothered by the people of the village and nearly lost his breath. He pushed the aunts who were trying to get close to him and said, "Stop...stop smothering ... I cannot breathe. Give space, people." Han Jianyou more or less expected this to happen, but he never expected that they would react in such a manner. They were inches away from turning him into a at patty!
He turned to look at his elder sister and was surprised to see that she was calmly looking in the front without even trying to stop these villagers from squishing him. He reached out and pulled Han Ruochen’s sleeves before hissing, "What do you think you are doing? Why are you not stopping them?"
Han Ruochen simply turned to look at him and remarked in a mocking voice, "What? Stealing doesn’t scare you, but this does?" Han Ruochen indeed didn’t bla her younger brother, but that didn’t an that she was not going to let him off so easily lest he start thinking that he could get away with just about anything. She couldn’t punish him, nor could she hit him, but she could at least go ahead and deal with him in another way.
Han Jianyou: "..." I didn’t know that you were this cruel. If I had ...then I wouldn’t have co with you.
Han Ruochen: I am just this cruel.
It took Han Jianyou a lot of ti to get rid of the aunties and the uncles who were questioning him like he was sitting in an examination hall. Not even an exam hall made him this stressed, like how these aunties and uncles made him. After he shook off the aunts and the uncles, he turned to look at Han Ruochen and glared at her angrily as if she had betrayed him in the greatest way possible.
"Why did you do that to ?" Han Jianyou questioned. His cheeks were flushed red, either due to the anger or all the pinching that he suffered in the hands of the aunties and the uncles.
"You got tired in just one ti?" Han Ruochen glanced at the little boy who was no longer at the sa height as her, and her heart clenched. There was a ti when Han Jianyou grew tall and strong. He might look like a bean sprout right now, but he will look really handso when he grows up. And that bright young man was killed by ng Yunhan and Han Ziyan as if he were not worth anything. Her own little brother was shot in the head like a bloody criminal for a cri that he didn’t even commit.
Han Ruochen let out a shuddering breath and reached out to ruffle Han Jianyou’s head. It was alright, he was right here. Alive and well.
Han Jianyou raised his hands and pushed her hand away. "Hey, watch the hair. Do you even know how long it took to style it?"
"And do you even know how long it took for Dad to establish a foothold in this village? Do you even know how many years he spent making a living in this village? He has a reputation to keep, Jianyou. Tell , how might Dad feel when the villagers co to look for him and ask about your mischief? You don’t even co back ho at the weekends, and people question Dad, you know? What happened to you today was a one-ti thing for you, but for Dad, it’s a daily thing. And it gets worse on the days when you do sothing wrong."
She sucked in a breath and added, "Put yourself in his shoes, Jianyou. Do you like it? Imagine what kind of rumours would have started if you were caught stealing today."
"But I wasn’t —"
Han Jianyou began heatedly, but he was silenced by Han Ruochen when she turned her head and glared at him with anger in her eyes. "It was a near miss. I reached just in ti to stop you because just two blocks down, a policeman was patrolling, they caught the black market raid today, and there were a bunch of policen in that area. If I hadn’t stopped you, then you would have lost half of your pathetic life."
"My life is not pathetic!" Han Jianyou exclaid, feeling like Han Ruochen was being too much. She was the one who brought him here, and now she was insulting him like this. "I have a good life—"
"By following those thug-like friends who ran away faster than anything or anyone as soon as they realised that they were in danger. You were hanging from the courtyard wall, Jianyou and not so stupid monkey bar. If you had fallen, you could have broken a leg or sothing worse. What if you fell on your head? You could have broken your head and turned into an idiot. Is that what you want? You want to beco a fool; is that it?"
Han Jianyou touched the back of his head and shuddered. However, it only lasted for two seconds before he raised his head and glared at Han Ruochen. "You are exaggerating things. There is no way I would have broken my head."
"Then go and hang by that wall and see if you wouldn’t have broken your head or you would have." Han Ruochen deadpanned, and Han Jianyou turned quiet at once.
The two of them walked in silence for a while before Han Jianyou broke the silence in a low, angry voice. "It’s Dad’s fault. He never cared for . If he had taken even a little bit of interest in my life, then I wouldn’t be doing these things." In Han Jianyou’s little head, there was nothing wrong with what he did, and he was just trying to attract the attention of his parents.
Han Ruochen turned, and Han Jianyou arrived at the pig farm in ten minutes. When they arrived, they both thought that they had to go and look for their father. To their surprise, their father ca running as if his feet had been replaced with wheels.
