Judging from the remaining condition of the high-tech facility, it appeared that the frantic evacuation had happened very recently, perhaps only a few fleeting hours earlier. The complex equipnt and sensitive infrastructure inside were still in relatively pristine, operational condition, abandoned in what must have been a highly disciplined rush.
It was almost as if the enemy had sohow possessed advance knowledge of the incoming raid, allowing them to pack up their most critical secrets and disappear into thin air before the vanguard could arrive.
That devastating discovery forced both the governnt and the military high-ranking officials to confront a terrifying, insidious possibility. It seed that MicroTech might have successfully planted deeply entrenched, high-level spies within the upper echelons of both the governnt administration and the military command itself.
That was the only logical, inescapable explanation for why the enemy always seed to know their highly classified counter-operations and tactical movents ahead of ti. The worst, most unsettling part of the situation was that counter-intelligence had still not managed to identify who these hidden moles actually were.
Because of this serious, systemic information breach, the entire offensive operation had to be temporarily halted in its tracks in order to prevent even more sensitive intelligence from leaking straight into the wrong hands.
Thinking about the complicated, stressful ss surrounding the national investigation inevitably made Yu Qi miss Long Hui even more deeply. It had already been an entire month since he had departed for his dangerous, classified mission into unknown territory. Even though she occasionally "visited" his location by projecting her spiritual consciousness into Shino’s small body, it still did very little to ease the dull, aching longing that constantly lingered within the quiet spaces of her heart.
Needing a physical distraction from her heavy thoughts, Yu Qi eventually walked toward her private research centre. However, the mont she approached the secure periter, she noticed a highly suspicious-looking girl lingering nervously near the main entrance gate. The girl repeatedly glanced toward the heavy security gate while clutching her smartphone so tightly that her knuckles had already turned a pale, bloodless white.
Yu Qi maintained her typical, unshakable composure and calmly continued walking toward the entrance.
Just as she was about to tap her encrypted access card against the card reader, the girl suddenly lunged toward her with erratic montum, attempting to grab her hand with a desperate, clumsy, and abrupt movent.
Yu Qi’s battlefield reflexes were far too sharp for such a predictable attempt. With a fluid, effortless shift of her weight, she swiftly stepped aside, causing the girl to completely miss her target and stumble forward into empty air.
"You..." The girl turned, her brow furrowed deeply as she looked at Yu Qi with a mixture of intense frustration and unhappiness.
"What exactly do you think you are doing?" Yu Qi asked coldly, her voice dropping a fraction of an octave to carry a clear, unmistakable warning.
The nearby security guards imdiately noticed the sudden, sharp commotion at the gate and began moving toward them with heavy, urgent strides. The mont the strange girl saw the uniford guards approaching, a flash of pure panic crossed her face, and she quickly turned around on her heel to flee.
However, just before running away into the urban crowd, she suddenly twisted her torso back and shouted a strange, hysterical warning directly toward Yu Qi.
"Quickly leave this place while you still can! They are going to throw you out soon!" The girl scread at the top of her lungs before disappearing entirely into the bustling, crowded street.
Yu Qi remained standing at the gate in quiet confusion, her slender brows furrowing slightly as she tried to logically deconstruct what exactly the strange girl could have possibly ant by those frantic, cryptic words. However, knowing she had work to do, she eventually let the matter go for the ti being, lifting her arm and tapping her encrypted access card firmly against the card reader.
The heavy security door imdiately unlocked with a soft, satisfying chanical click, allowing her to step inside the climate-controlled facility. The security guards recognised Yu Qi instantly, their posture straightening as they respectfully bowed to greet her. Yu Qi nodded lightly, offering them a polite, appreciative smile. After thinking for a brief mont about the strange encounter outside, she decided to ask the guards for more context regarding the frantic girl.
"I saw a girl lingering outside just before I entered. She ran up to and warned that I should leave before getting thrown out. Do you have any idea what is going on with her?" Yu Qi inquired curiously.
The security guards exchanged brief, knowing glances with one another for a second before turning their attention back toward Yu Qi to explain.
"Actually, Miss Tang, there was a girl who tried sneaking into our facility through a side entrance a few days ago. We caught her on the surveillance monitors in ti and escorted her off the premises imdiately. We also issued a stern warning, telling her that if she set foot on this property again, we would not hesitate to report the matter directly to the authorities." One of the senior security guards explained honestly about what happened to the girl.
"Oh... She actually tried to sneak into a secure facility?" Yu Qi narrowed her eyes thoughtfully, her internal alarms chiming. "Do you happen to know her identity, or why she was so desperately trying to gain entry inside?"
Given the political climate and the situation with MicroTech, she could not help but suspect that the girl might have been an operative sent by a rival faction attempting to infiltrate and steal the research centre’s core, proprietary technology.
