"No problem, she can be booked anyti." Maureen took out her business card from her bag and handed it to Nolan.
"I suggest you try to get her out of here first, otherwise the atmosphere is too awkward. Commander Grey should be here soon, right?" Jack kindly suggested.
If this woman causes any trouble, everyone's rare happy gathering will be ruined, and if sothing gets out, it won't be good for Nolan either.
Everyone's thoughts were the sa as Jack's, and they all turned their attention to Nolan.
"I'll go right now, uh… where is she?" Nolan turned around, a little confused. In the blink of an eye, the blonde woman who had been talking to him in the backyard was gone.
"I think I saw that Denise sneak into your bedroom," Tyler pointed to the stairs, truly a reporter with amazing observation skills.
Nolan's expression changed drastically, and he rushed to his bedroom, with Carrie following behind.
"Jack, call 911!"
A few minutes later, Carrie's anxious voice ca from the hallway. Everyone was startled and peeked out, wanting to know what had happened.
Soon, Nolan and Carrie helped the blonde woman into the living room and laid her on her back on the floor. As Carrie examined her, an empty dicine bottle rolled to the floor.
"Paul, you promised to co ho. You said you'd co ho. How can I live without you?"
Denise, dazed, stroked Nolan's cheek and murmured to herself.
"She swallowed the whole bottle of dication. I need to induce vomiting." Carrie gestured to the onlookers to help.
"I'll do it."
Jack put down his phone, grabbed a basin, turned the blonde woman over, and placed his left hand against her stomach.
....
"Can anyone tell what just happened here?"
Commander Grey, who had just arrived with his wife, looked confused as the ambulance drove away.
Nolan dejectedly recounted what had happened, while secretly observing Carrie's expression.
Carrie smiled and gently stroked his cheek, comforting him, "It's not your fault. Of course, I wouldn't mind if you made up for it with another romantic candlelight dinner."
'Older won are just so caring.' Jack glanced at the other couple; Angela was currently taking her anger out on Wesley, and the rich young master was completely bewildered, having no idea what he had done to offend her.
"Didn't Detective Calderon give you any trouble afterward?" Jack asked Angela while busy at the grill.
"You'd never guess. Before leaving work, she apologized to privately and even invited to participate in the interrogation of that bank teller," Angela replied with a beaming smile, taking the lamb skewers Jack offered.
"After that guy confessed, Detective Calderon promised she would help push for my official joining of the detective team as soon as possible."
"Girls helping girls? Looks like you're going to have another good friend."
Rembering Nolan's earlier words, the relationships between girls, or rather, won, were indeed unpredictable.
For example, on the other side, four beautiful won of varying ages and backgrounds — Zoe, Maureen, Tyler, and Kara — were chatting animatedly. Their ages, jobs, and experiences differed greatly, and it was truly baffling how they found common ground.
Jack enjoyed these simple gatherings and parties with friends, where everyone freely enjoyed food and drinks, chatted happily, and there was no backstabbing or scheming. Gossip remained just good-natured jokes. This genuine, down-to-earth atmosphere was intoxicating, bringing the soul of this transmigrator closer to this wondrous world.
When the party ended, Tyler had drunk a bit too much and had to take a taxi ho, while the young Kara was driven ho by Jack.
Jack's feelings towards this girl who had experienced misfortune had long since shifted from initial sympathy and pity to admiration. In just a few months, she had returned to a normal life, a stark contrast to many adults who gave up on themselves at the slightest setback, indulging in alcohol and drugs.
Although Jack, with his proficient-level psychology skills, could still detect so clues from the details — such as Kara's slight nervousness and awkwardness when interacting with n her age — he believed that with ti, the nightmare would completely fade from her mory.
"Which university are you planning to go to?" Rembering the girl's excellent grades, Jack asked casually.
"I've already signed an Early Decision offer with the University of Chicago Law School." Kara tilted her head back, her big eyes crinkling with laughter, a smug look on her face.
"Wow, you're so amazing! Do you want to beco a lawyer like Wesley?" Jack's tone was exaggerated; this was the third-ranked law school in the nation.
Kara wrinkled her nose and made a face, seemingly annoyed by Jack's childish tone, unaware that this gesture made her seem even more childish.
"I want to be a police officer, working in preventing sexual cris."
"Kara, you're the strongest girl I've ever t," Jack said sincerely.
"What gift do you want as your coming-of-age present?"
Kara tilted her head, looking adorable. "Could I have one of those self-defense pistols that Ginny used before?"
Jack was a little annoyed at being reminded of his embarrassing past; it seed these won only got together to gossip about these things.
"If your parents agree, I can give you a Beretta BU9 Nano. You can even choose your favorite color."
The Beretta BU9 Nano semi-automatic pocket pistol is 14.3 centiters long and weighs less than 600 grams, about the size of an adult woman's palm. It's available in various colors and has beco a top choice for self-defense pistols among won in Europe and Arica in recent years.
Considering she's going to university in Chicago, a region with challenges, giving her a small pistol for self-defense seems like a good idea.
"When Hannah cos back, you can ask her to teach you shooting and combat."
After safely dropping the girl off at ho and seeing her go inside, Jack drove away with peace of mind. Although Kara's father, Mr. Robinson, had initially seed a bit dim-witted, her mother, Mrs. Robinson, appeared to be the head of the household.
After all, not every mother would be so open-minded as to allow her daughter to go out to parties after such a tragic experience. It seed she was the one who encouraged Kara to frequently visit the police station, making her a rather remarkable woman.
Back on the road, a phone call from Maureen saved soone who was originally planning to go ho and give up. Today's choice was too much; Jack had almost given up.
Amidst the florist's envious gazes, Jack picked out two bouquets of roses, one red and one pink, and also took out two necklaces he had prepared beforehand, then happily went to Maureen's house.
