Now reading: Chapter 130 130: 130-Tire blowout from Reborn: The Rookie Detective, a Action novel by jackrose.

In his previous life, Jack enjoyed traveling in his youth. Due to work, he had visited many places, witnessing all sorts of cultural landscapes and natural wonders.

But unlike in this country on wheels, back then, travel was either by high-speed rail or airplane. Driving freely like this was a rather novel experience.

He had to thank the system for this; without his combat and life skills, he would never have had the confidence to travel alone, because this world was far more dangerous than his previous life.

But regardless, Jack still preferred this world, not just because of the system, but also because the quality of the girls here was ridiculously high. For example, the white girl who suddenly darted out from the roadside, jumping and waving her hands vigorously.

"Hi, we need help!"

She had long, dark brown hair, a white sports vest, and two strong, powerful legs hidden in tight jeans — a very energetic and athletic girl.

Jack thought to himself, lightly tapping the brakes and pulling over to the side of the road. He smiled and leaned out of the window.

"What happened?"

The girl was startled when she saw Jack's face, but quickly recovered.

"Our car just had a flat tire and flipped over. Can you help us?"

Jack carefully surveyed the surroundings, using his senses to confirm that this wasn't so Arican version of a highway robbery, before nodding and getting out of the car, casually pulling out the keys.

To the left of the road was a small slope covered with cedar trees and bushes. An old white Jeep Wagoneer SUV lay overturned there, surrounded by four young people — two n and two won — arguing animatedly. They all appeared to be students out for a trip.

"Hey guys, I've got so help," the brown-haired girl waved to the four.

"How did you manage that?"

Jack frowned as he went to check. Both front tires were flat, and one of the front tires had a coil of barbed wire wrapped around it.

A bespectacled man in a white T-shirt, with a sowhat gloomy expression, seed to be the driver. He waved his right hand and complained, "Soone dropped barbed wire in the middle of the road. I didn't have ti to react, and the car went out of control and fell down."

"You guys are lucky. Is anyone hurt?" Jack looked at the five people; they all seed alright.

"No, Evan wasn't driving fast. We were just a little frightened." The brown-haired girl rubbed her forehead, looking sowhat dejected.

Jack looked back along the skid marks on the ground and pointed to a large tree about seven or eight ters away.

"Was it there that it was splintered?" he asked, walking towards the tree.

"What did you find?" the brown-haired girl followed.

Jack bent down and untied half a piece of barbed wire from the base of the tree. "Looks like this wasn't an accident; soone deliberately set up an ambush here."

"Fuck, is this how the locals treat their guests?"

"Damn bastard!"

The others who had followed out of curiosity cursed.

"Hey, handso, can you help tow the car up?" Another young man in a yellow shirt, who seed more outgoing, scratched the back of his head and asked with a smile.

Jack looked at the overturned SUV and shook his head: "I can't help. My car definitely has enough horsepower, but the slope here is too steep. We need a special tow truck to tow it, otherwise we won't be able to get any leverage."

"Damn it, this is so unlucky." The bespectacled man angrily kicked a small stone at his feet, venting his emotions. A red-haired girl next to him quickly pulled him back and gently comforted him; she seed to be his girlfriend.

The brown-haired girl seed to be the most decisive one among them. She took out her phone, checked it again to make sure there was no signal, and then spoke to her friends.

"Listen, we need to find a landline. There was a gas station on the way here. I'd like to check it out. Anyone want to co?"

"Uh, actually, I have an idea." Sensing sothing was off, Jack decided to help them out if he could.

"I passed that gas station too. I saw an old tow truck parked inside. I don't know if it'll work, but we could try our luck."

"Also, I have so repair tools in my car. After towing the car up, I can patch your tires, at least enough to get you out of this place."

"Wow, that's fantastic! I don't know how to thank you enough, buddy." The man in the yellow shirt made an exaggerated expression, winking at the brown-haired girl, seemingly hinting at sothing.

The brown-haired girl seed preoccupied, forcing a smile at the man's expression.

"Can you take us with you? If the tow truck doesn't work, take us to a place with a signal or find a landline so we can call for help."

"No problem." Jack shrugged.

"But my back seat is full, so there's only room for one person in the front passenger seat. If you're worried, you can let him co." He pointed to the man in the yellow shirt.

"No, I won't be separated from my dearest." The man in the yellow shirt hugged the girl next to him, who had a ponytail, wore a blue tank top, and had a great figure that showed off her youthful energy.

Then the two of them started acting all lovey-dovey.

The brown-haired girl rolled her eyes, looking like she was being fed up with the PDA.

"I'll go with you. Let them wait here."

"Okay." Jack was all for it, but out of kindness, he still reminded her, "You two better not separate and just wait here. The people who set traps on the road might have malicious intentions."

The bespectacled man ignored Jack's words, took out a crumpled hand-rolled cigarette from his pocket, and his girlfriend's eyes lit up.

The outgoing man in the yellow shirt was much more carefree and happily waved goodbye to the two of them.

"It's alright, it's only noon. We can have a picnic here and wait for you to co back. We'll save so food for you."

Jack and the brown-haired girl got into the car, started the engine, turned around, and drove back the way they ca.

"You and your friends seem to get along very well." Sensing that the girl beside him wasn't in a good mood, Jack started making conversation.

"Huh?!" The brown-haired girl seed to be suddenly jolted out of her thoughts, only just realizing what was happening.

"Yes, they're all my best friends. I recently broke up with my boyfriend, so they dragged out to cheer up."

"Don't mind Scott. He just wants to get over it soon."

The brown-haired girl defended the yellow-shirted man's earlier deliberate encouragent to get into Jack's car.

Jack had a good impression of the yellow-shirted man and shook his head with a smile, "It's alright. And I have a girlfriend. I forgot to introduce myself. My na is Jack, Jack Tavelor."

[A/n: "It's a pity I have a girlfriend."
