"Stella, this is a gift for you."
After chatting for a while, Hannah took a gun case from her suitcase and placed it on the table.
The Walker family's two children perfectly inherited their mother's beauty and their father's height, especially the eldest daughter, Stella, who had grown into a graceful young woman with long legs that were in no way inferior to Hannah's, who was also a Texas girl. Judging from her lively deanor, she seed to resemble her father more.
The little girl let out a surprised squeal, took the box, and saw a Beretta BU9 Nano semi-automatic pocket pistol inside. The blue casing with laser-etched grip patches was very much to the liking of a little girl her age.
Jack had prepared a pink one for Kara before, but hadn't had a chance to give it to her yet. Hannah thought this pistol was very suitable for a little girl, so she bought one as a gift as well.
"Augie, your gift is too big. It won't arrive until tomorrow. It's a Brad Paisley signature guitar."
Hannah turned to look at Augie, her tone sowhat apologetic.
Augie, the younger brother, was a head taller than Stella and looked more scholarly than his sister, giving off a more motherly vibe.
He covered his mouth, unable to hide his surprise, and finally, the little boy shyly hugged Hannah to express his gratitude.
"Little Hannah, you'll spoil them both like this."
Aunt Molly brought over a coffee tray and placed it in front of them, containing a coffeepot and two cups of lavender tea, steaming and exuding the rich fragrance of lavender.
"Try this; it's the first lavender to bloom in our garden this year. A little bit will be very good for your sleep tonight."
Giving a girl a gun and a boy a musical instrunt — is this so kind of Texas-style gift-giving custom? Jack silently complained to himself, picked up his teacup, and took a small sip. He was surprised to find that the taste was quite good. In addition to the floral fragrance, there was so honey added. It wasn't very sweet, but the aroma of honey and lavender combined perfectly.
[A/n: I wanted to change this one, But I don't much about tea. So, is this lavender tea popular or sothing. More importantly, is it chingchong?]
"It's wonderful, the best herbal tea I've ever had."
Jack praised sincerely, making the old lady beam with joy.
"We've prepared enough materials, and we'll be repairing the Stephens' house together tomorrow. Would you like to co?" Walker's father, Bonham, had a sowhat amused expression.
"Hey, old man, don't make things difficult for the young man. You should learn to respect your guests." Aunt Molly said this, but a sly glint appeared in her eyes. The whole family turned their attention to Jack, seemingly wanting to see his reaction, giving the impression that the bride's family was testing their first-ti son-in-law.
"I happen to be a pretty good carpenter, so I should be able to help."
Jack readily agreed, quite confident in his skills.
"Aha, it's settled then." Walker clapped his hands together, rubbing them together, seemingly eager to get started.
"Can I help too? Bonham has been teaching a lot lately." Augie raised his hand, looking at his mother, Emily.
Emily looked at her son, smiled and nodded, then turned to Hannah: "Let the n handle things. Let's go to town together tomorrow afternoon. I need to buy so supplies, and we can go shopping together."
Hannah seed very happy, then suddenly rembered sothing and asked, "Walker said you've been so busy lately you haven't had ti for him. Is it related to the supplies you're buying?"
Emily glared at her husband and explained, "We built a rest stop in the desert, along the route those immigrants take. We replenish the rest stop with water and food every week. You know, the number of people smuggling in from xico has been increasing over the years."
"The day after tomorrow is the day to replenish supplies, so I won't be able to co with you then."
Jack never judged those who actually took action; at least Emily's rescue efforts were far more practical than those handing out questionable supplies. But you wouldn't expect him to do the sa by his choice.
So he feigned ignorance, asking, "Isn't that route dangerous? Wouldn't so people use it for illegal activities?"
"That's why we only set up the supply point on the route approved by Police Walker." Emily said, smiling at her husband.
"That's to ensure your safety." Walker said seriously.
"Okay, you're worrying too much," Emily said, pulling on his tie, forcing him to bend down and kiss him on the lips.
Walker seed a little unsatisfied and wanted to continue, but his mother gave him a light tap on the head, and the family burst into laughter.
Although he didn't know if this was the only incident in the original story, Jack decided to persuade Hannah to go along. He needed to find a way to sabotage the whole affair to save Emily's life.
"Why don't we co along the day after tomorrow? I've never camped in the desert before. I specially prepared a tent and sleeping bag for this road trip, so we can use them."
Hearing Jack's suggestion, Hannah, who couldn't wait to spend more ti with Emily, imdiately agreed. As a result, because the two children wanted to join in, Walker had to join in as well, ultimately leading to a spontaneous family camping trip.
"Cordell and Emily have been together for so many years, and their relationship is still so good."
Late at night, in the guest room that the Walker family had helped prepare, Hannah nestled in Jack's arms and sighed with envy.
Jack hesitated for a mont, then nervously echoed, "The Walker couple's relationship is also very good, reminding of the Hunters."
Hannah snorted softly, not continuing the topic, but after pestering him for a while, she asked him to tell her story in detail about encountering those n.
"In the end, I worked seamlessly with the team, taking down all the n and wiping out the Eugene family villains. We even found the gold in the trunks of two SUVs."
"That natural gold nugget is very beautiful; you can keep it as a decoration."
Jack racked his brains to recount the whole story, emphasizing what needed to be said and omitting what shouldn't be.
"So, you were incredibly brave in all those battles, even more than those operators killed n."
Hannah's eyes darted around, seemingly asking casually.
"Of course, if you don't count the ones they took down with the weapon on the helicopter, I was the MVP. The first ti we encountered them, I emptied three magazines."
Jack, completely oblivious to the girl's subtle teasing, boasted nonchalantly.
"Then tell , how did you deal with that adrenaline rush? With those operators?" Hannah revealed her true colors, coldly seizing Jack's weakness.
"Ah…" Jack was stunned. "Would you believe if I said I wasn't that nervous?"
