The detective couple warmly welcod the two. Since their first visit, Jack and Hannah had been visiting about once a week. Jack would perform his healing skill on Hunter, while the adorable Hannah beca the elderly couple's source of joy, especially Dee Dee, who practically treated her like her own daughter.

This ti, Jack used the excuse of Hunter's remarkable rehabilitation progress to completely heal the area of his brain hemorrhage. He also took the opportunity, while Dee Dee hugged him in gratitude, to repair Dee Dee's sowhat overworked body. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the two elderly people would have no problem living past a hundred years old.

After all, firstly, these two were his childhood idols, and secondly, such a loving couple who could accompany each other for life were considered a rare sight in Arica, worthy of protection. And more importantly, having such people owing him can make his future very secure.

As evening fell and Jack bid farewell to the Hunters, he stared blankly out the window at the receding villa, lost in thought. Suddenly, Hannah asked, "You know that Dee Dee was assaulted back then, and Hunter avenged her?"

"Huh?" Jack was startled by her question, nearly losing his grip on the steering wheel. Of course he knew the plot; after watching the revenge episode, he was furious and wanted to chop off the writers' and directors' heads. The question was, how did Hannah know?

"I've never heard of that. You two were talking about it when you were alone just now?" Jack looked at Hannah suspiciously. Why would Dee Dee bring up such a topic? A sudden thought struck him — Hannah's psychological issues — and a sense of foreboding crept into his mind.

Dee Dee wouldn't have brought up such a painful past without reason. There was only one possibility: this silly girl was confiding in Dee Dee, and Dee Dee was trying to comfort her with her own experience.

Instinctively gripping the steering wheel, Jack remained silent. The thought of this usually cheerful and lively girl having experienced such a thing made his breathing heavy. Forcibly suppressing his anger, he reached out and patted Hannah's head, trying to speak calmly, "Hannah, you know I'm not so fool who gets caught up in legal or procedural justice. If soone I care about is hurt, I don't mind fighting fire with fire, tooth for tooth. Do you understand?"

Arican law mainly protects the powerful and wealthy. Jack didn't beco a law enforcent officer to serve these upper classes. Whether it's the system or the LAPD patrol officer profession, fulfilling his police duties every day is rely to improve his skills and quality of life. Ultimately, he simply sees these as tools to live a better life in this world.

Jack wasn't so saint like Nolan. Even Nolan had his own sense of justice to uphold. Besides, once his skills improved, he could change maps. He had already checked through the LAPD's internal system and confird that the Chicago Police Departnt did indeed have an intelligence team leader nad Hank Voight. The world of Arican TV shows wasn't black and white. At worst, he could beco a "dirty" cop; would the system not recognize that?

Hannah remained silent, simply holding Jack's right hand and rubbing her cheek against his palm. Feeling the dampness in his palm, Jack slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road, turned to look intently into her eyes, and said softly, "Hey, Hannah, you're the smartest and strongest girl I've ever t. Maybe the ti isn't right yet, but I believe that when you open your heart to , I won't let you down."

Hannah remained silent, only slowly closing her eyes, a few glistening tears still clinging to her long eyelashes. The atmosphere had built up, and Jack could only steel himself and lean in to kiss her. But the mont his lips touched her soft lips, she suddenly burst out laughing.

"So Zoe has opened her heart to you, right?"

"Hey! Are you kidding ? This joke isn't funny at all." Jack was a little angry, or rather, trying to use anger to mask his unease at her question and her evasiveness.

He wasn't yet used to the casualness Aricans showed in relationships, and how to handle the complex romantic dynamics among the won was a persistent problem that had been troubling him for days.

"You know, you look adorable when you're angry." Hannah took Jack's hand and pressed it against her cheek.

"It's not what you think. Give so ti, and I'll tell you everything about my past. But before that, you have to promise one thing."

"What is it?" Jack raised an eyebrow.

"You're not allowed to fight back when you're practicing Krav Maga with these next few days. You've threatened to spank so many tis!"

The man felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders and started driving again, replying listlessly, "Yes, ma'am."

When the group returned to the police station after their administrative leave, they were greeted with cheers from everyone. Of course, Jack sensed that most of the cheers ca from people relieved they wouldn't have to work overti every day anymore. With so many fewer day shift patrol officers, even with support from other precincts, the Wilshire Police Departnt was still stretched thin.

The District Attorney's report confird the legality of the shootings in the Bronson Building incident. Lucy was granted the right to choose a short-sleeved uniform for her outstanding performance in successfully delivering a baby during a crisis. Bishop was confird to be recruited by the ATF after recovering from her injuries. Correspondingly, Angela, who competed with her for detective status, successfully obtained her detective status and will be officially transferred to the detective division after six months of training.

Hannah and Tim were both promoted one rank.

The biggest beneficiary was Jack. His heroic performance was reported to headquarters and he received a special comndation. His probation period was shortened to three months, aning that in two weeks, Jack would be a full-fledged LAPD patrol officer.

"This is what you deserve. If you weren't still a rookie, you might even have been awarded a life-saving dal," Commander Gray, the stern-faced officer, rarely praised Jack during the briefing.

The next two weeks were uneventful. Jack successfully passed the rookie test and beca a full-fledged LAPD officer, earning a large reward of experience points and five system coins — enough to upgrade any skill from proficient to master. He hadn't decided which skill to upgrade yet and decided to keep it for later.

Nolan, who had recovered from his injury, and Lucy, who also had more than half a year left in her probation, couldn't help but feel a little jealous while congratulating him. Having learned to adopt Arican values, Jack naturally wouldn't pretend to be humble anymore and showed off quite a bit in front of them.

As a result, he overdid it, and to soothe the two rookies' wounded hearts, he had to promise to cook them a big al again.
