Now reading: Chapter 277 277: 277-Riot from Reborn: The Rookie Detective, a Action novel by jackrose.

After chatting with Professor Cahill, who had gained a considerable amount of weight, for half the night, Jack roughly understood the purpose of Rossi's conversation with him.

The gist was that he should appease the two girls, keep a low profile, and not attract attention from above because of his private life. Although Jack was David Rossi's apprentice, he didn't need to learn everything.

For the next two weeks, the world returned to peace. Perhaps it was because spring had just arrived and the serial killers hadn't fully awakened yet; in any case, life was peaceful, and the BAU staff once again fell into a state of idleness.

When Jack yawned and carried a lunchbox into the office, he was surprised to find that Reid, who was never late, was not at his seat.

"Where's our Dr. Reid?" Jack unpacked the lunchbox, labeled each item, and put them in the refrigerator.

"Hotchner and I went to the prison early this morning. A serial killer nad Chester Hardwick wants to participate in our criminal characterization project before his death sentence takes effect."

Emily picked up a box of crispy fried pig ears from the table behind him, cheered, and crunched away.

It was a Spanish dish, slightly modified by Jack.

Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside with a layer of cartilage, it could also be enjoyed as a snack.

Paired with a dish of pickled edama and a few bottles of ice-cold beer, it was the perfect combination for an evening gathering, watching TV, or watching a ga.

Seeing Jack sitting in his seat, yawning several tis, Emily asked with so confusion, "Didn't the weekend just end? It's rare to see you like this."

"I went to a friend's farm last night to snipe mice, and we played all night long."

Jack made himself a cup of coffee to perk himself up. The Wolf brothers' farm had recently been infested with mice, and Braxton had gotten several air rifles, equipped with low-light night vision goggles and high-powered scopes.

The air rifles were extrely quiet, with moderate power, so one shot wouldn't disturb all the animals on the farm, yet they were enough to kill small mammals like mice with every shot.

The three n stayed up all night, lying on the haystacks shooting mice, one shot, one Jerry, the process was quite stress-relieving, and before they knew it, it was dawn.

"Are you n never going to grow up?" Emily rolled her eyes and picked up the newspaper on the table to read.

"What are you talking about?" Probably hearing Jack's voice, JJ ca out in her high heels, opening the refrigerator to see what good food she had for dinner.

"We were talking about how Emily might have a boyfriend." Jack's words were startling, making Emily sit up straight in her chair.

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

"You just ntioned 'you n,' which ans a new man has appeared in your life recently, soone you subconsciously think about from ti to ti."

"Nonsense." Emily looked disdainful, as if to say, "Your profiling skills are terrible."

"Okay, then I'll try deductive reasoning. JJ, when was the last ti you saw Emily wearing the sa outfit from the Friday before her vacation to this Monday after her vacation?"

JJ pretended to be deep in thought, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up.

"Oh my god, Emily, you spent the night at a man's house! Thank goodness, I thought you'd be single forever."

Seeing Emily glaring at him angrily, Jack flashed a V-sign to show his victory.

Since she was always gossiping about him, it was a rare treat for her to join in the fun. JJ pulled Emily to her office, and the two girls chatted away.

Jack lay down on the table and started to catch up on sleep, drifting in and out of sleep until noon, when JJ and Emily rushed over and woke him up.

"Jack, hurry! There's been a riot at Terminal Prison! Hotchner and Reid are trapped inside!"

Jack was startled, his mind instantly clearing. A prison riot? Were those two really that unlucky?

Rossi wasn't in the office today, so the three of them had to head to the prison first. Jack made a few phone calls on the way, getting information from his friends at the LAPD.

Terminal Prison is a hardened prison for serious offenders, operated by a private company, holding approximately 800 inmates.

This morning, a riot broke out among the prisoners, and the current situation is unclear, but rumors are circulating that things are quite dire.

When the three arrived, LAPD police cars, fire trucks, SWAT team armored vehicles, and several FBI Suburbans had already completely blocked the open space in front of the prison building.

In front of a large, black-painted LAPD command van, Jack saw Hannah and SWAT team leader Hondo.

"What are you doing here?" Both of them were surprised to see Jack and Emily.

"Long ti no see, Hondo." Jack greeted the black captain first.

"Our team's smartest brains and our leader are trapped inside. They're here today to et a dangerous serial killer."

Jack glanced at his five teammates behind him, sowhat puzzled. "You only sent a small team?"

Hondo shrugged helplessly. "Team B is on a capture mission in Century City and won't be here for a while. We'll have to go first."

"Don't mind taking with you?" Jack asked, taking out the gear the SEALs had given him from the trunk.

"Wow, aren't you in the FBI? Where did you get a set like this?" Hondo's eyes showed envy.

He envied not only Jack's high-end SEAL gear but also the two pretty girls who stood beside him to help him put on his bulletproof vest.

"It was a gift from a friend of the SEALs. Give a set of your communicators."

With Hannah and JJ's help, Jack put on his bulletproof vest and inserted the ceramic bulletproof plate, while strapping a holster to his right leg, and answered.

"I have it here. Long ti no see, Jack. When you visited our team last ti, could you reveal your stew recipe?"

The second-in-command, Deacon, with a long beard and slightly elongated face, handed over his spare communicator.

"Ah, that's an aunt's secret recipe. I wouldn't dare give it to you directly without her permission, but I can ask around for you."

Jack took the communicator, put it on, inserted his MK24 with the gold anchor logo into the holster on his right leg, and finally put on his goggles. He stretched his body to make sure his movents wouldn't be affected by the added tactical accessories.

"Tell about the situation inside. Have you formulated a rescue plan?"

"Not yet. The firefighters just put out the fire in the annex. The prisoners have taken 18 hostages, including the warden, but we haven't found Reid and Hotchner yet. We don't know where they're hiding."

Hannah led everyone into the command vehicle, where a bunch of avatars appeared on the screen.

[A/n: So, the OG author is saying there would be one more girl at mostly in this novel, no new paring. I honestly don't believe a author word, because I am one of them and I know the feeling of linking every good thing and person for my MC.]
