Hannah nodded: "Detective Hunter and Detective McCall were legendary figures in the LAPD during the 80s and 90s, of course I know them. Especially Detective McCall, as one of the few outstanding female detectives in the LAPD during that male-dominated era, she has always been an idol for all of us female officers."

"They live on Maryland Street. You know them?" She suddenly turned to look at Jack.

More than just know them — in Jack's previous life, almost every in person of Arica born in the 70s and 80s knew this duo. *Hunter* was one of the first Arican TV shows most families watched after getting their first television.

"They live together? You an they're married?" Jack keenly sensed sothing was wrong. His most vivid mory from his previous life was of the beautiful Dee Dee marrying a doctor who appeared out of nowhere. That episode made countless viewers grit their teeth in hatred, and it made Jack hate TV writers for life.

"Of course, it's been over ten years. They're also one of the most enviable model couples in the LAPD. The police departnt invites them to a commorative event every year."

Jack sighed and leaned back in the passenger seat. Now that Hunter and Dee's relationship could break free from the original plot, he was even more confident in saving Zoe's fate.

The two arrived ho quickly. Jack was about to go upstairs to sleep when he suddenly rembered sothing and called out, "Hannah, would you take to visit Detective Hunter and Detective McCall soti?"

Hannah nodded in confusion but didn't ask any further questions.

The next day, in the briefing room.

Commander Wade Gray, the duty commander, walked into the noisy room with a gloomy expression. The officers who had been whispering imdiately fell silent.

Commander Gray's slightly overweight, dark face looked even more darker at the mont. He took out a stack of A4 papers and distributed them one by one to everyone's desks, then said loudly.

"This is an internal wanted poster for Lance Selby. He violated his parole yesterday. If the danger level is one to ten, this guy is level twelve."

"He was previously sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder with a woodworking hamr. Whoever can bring him back from the streets will receive a heartfelt reward from their superiors and two tickets to Sunday's Super Bowl."

Hearing the whispers below, Commander Gray paused, his stern gaze sweeping over everyone.

"Attention, intelligence indicates this man may have accomplices and is highly likely to possess automatic weapons. Everyone be extrely careful."

The wanted poster depicted a disheveled white man, around 35 years old, with an ordinary appearance, except for his prominent, puffy eyes.

Jack and Angela went to the armory, and Angela gestured for him to collect two more M16 automatic rifles in addition to his usual Ithaca 12-gauge shotguns.

After inspecting the firearms, Angela asked Jack, "How's your rifle shooting?"

Jack carefully put the equipnt in the trunk and replied, "About the sa as my pistols. Excellent results on the 100-ter target with iron sights."

Driving off, seeing that Angela hadn't given any further instructions, Jack was a little puzzled: "Shouldn't we try to find that wanted criminal?"

Angela seed confident: "The other teams will actively search for clues. We just need to keep an eye on internal communications. Catching such a serious criminal doesn't allow for solo operations; they'll definitely call for backup."

Compared to the wanted criminal, Angela was clearly more concerned about her lunch.

"What are we having for lunch today? The sa fried stuff as yesterday? I really liked the taste."

Jack thought to himself, 'Another foodie', but answered honestly, "I made three servings of scallion oil noodles this morning, but Hannah snatched most of it. You can have the rest. I also have rice, and the side dishes are garlic broccoli and fried pork chops. We need to find a place with a microwave to heat things up for lunch."

"No problem, leave that to . I know where to find a microwave."

Angela tilted her head and looked at him, her tone curious. "Jack, are you really only 21?"

Jack sighed. "If you're forced to be alone at 18, supporting yourself with a small grocery store left by your parents while saving money for college, then you'll have to learn to cook and take care of yourself."

"Actually, I've always been puzzled too. Cooking tutorials are readily available online, and making your own food saves money and satisfies your taste buds, so why do young people still prefer to eat only hamburgers?"

Angela laughed. "I think that's why I doubt your age. Your behavior makes you seem more like that old rookie. Only soone born in the disco era would have such thoughts."

Jack nodded in agreent. "Indeed, compared to Lucy, Nolan and I have more in common."

He was eager to establish his mature-beyond-his-years persona as soon as possible, to avoid constantly worrying about being discovered as a ti traveler. Although Aricans might not have this concept, priests still sotis work as exorcists, and being suspected of demonic possession would be much more troubleso.

Angela looked at the young man who was driving intently, staring at his excessively handso face, slightly lost in thought.

"What's wrong?" After waiting for a while without hearing her speak, Jack turned and glanced at her.

"Nothing, I was just thinking how easy our jobs would be if all the young people were as mature and disciplined as you." Angela touched her slightly flushed cheeks, trying to hide her wandering thoughts.

The morning patrol was quite easy; the two only issued two traffic tickets before it was noon.

They went to the place where they had lunch yesterday. Angela eagerly took his large lunchbox to the convenience store next door to heat up the food, while Jack, as usual, bought two bottles of Coke. Just as they sat down, they saw the other two rookie teams arrive together.

"Hey Nolan, Lucy, any news on that wanted criminal?"

Lucy shook her head, while Nolan seed excited, eagerly sitting down and saying, "We found one of Lance Selby's accomplices, Darius Nguyen. He owns a gym, and we're planning to check it out after lunch."

Jack nodded. "If there's any new information, rember to report it on the internal channel imdiately. This guy is very dangerous; it's not sothing one or two teams can handle."

After lunch, Jack and Angela continued their drive. The daily life of a patrol officer was indeed monotonous and tedious. In fact, although guns were rampant and violent cri was rampant in his previous life in Arica, more than half of the frontline patrol officers never fired a gun in their entire careers.

Of course, in this strange Arican TV series world, Jack never expected to live a peaceful life. Being a re street patrol officer wasn't the career he had planned for himself. Perhaps the FBI was a good option.

Of course, the higher one climbs, the more freedom one enjoys, but also the greater the risk.
