Even codies like *The Rookie* have seen several characters die, so other imported Arican dramas, especially those with large-scale scenes, are even more rife with character deaths.

Besides, he was also curious: since the beauties in this world were several levels above their counterparts in the original shows, it would be a sha not to et the famous ones. Of course, it was too early to say anything now. Right now, he was just a LAPD patrol officer. Aside from being sowhat handso, he had no connections and was practically penniless. How could he possibly get to know those influential figures? But thankfully, he had the system; with ti and effort, that day would co.

Around 3 PM, a call suddenly ca over the police radio requesting additional police support.

Jack and Angela perked up imdiately. Nolan's communication ca through via a private channel; they had apprehended their accomplice, Darius Nguyen, who revealed Lance Selby's whereabouts — hiding in a house at 1350 Wilshire Boulevard.

Lucy and Tim reported that their police car was closest to the suspect's location and they would be the first to arrive.

Angela, in the passenger seat, imdiately replied to command that they would proceed to the location imdiately. anwhile, Jack, driving, turned on the lights and siren, glanced in the rearview mirror to ensure there were no cars behind, lightly applied the brakes, sharply turned the steering wheel, and accelerated.

With three minutes to go, the radio suddenly went off. Lucy and Tim, arriving first, attempted to circle around to the alley behind the target house to block Selby's escape route while awaiting reinforcents. However, they unexpectedly encountered Selby and another accomplice in the alley, who opened fire on the police car with automatic weapons.

Lucy and Tim got out of the car and tried to fight back, but their pistols were no match for the two M4A1s. Tim was shot and fell to the ground.

Hearing Lucy's panicked voice on the radio, Jack gritted his teeth and slamd on the gas, accelerating further. Angela, anwhile, began checking the two M16 assault rifles she had just taken from the trunk.

As the car turned the corner, the sound of a police helicopter's rotors ca from above. Officer Talia Bishop was reporting on the radio that a suspect had been arrested and the main culprit, Selby, was fleeing towards the residential area on Clinton Avenue.

Jack turned onto Clinton Avenue, searching for his target, when suddenly a figure darted out from the backyard of a house. Seeing the police car with its siren blaring, the figure fired a burst of fire.

The windshield of the police car in front of Jack shattered, and bullets grazed his ear and lodged in the headrest of the seat.

"Fuck!" Feeling his adrenaline surge, Jack grabbed the M16 Angela had checked for him, placed it on the steering wheel, and fired three short bursts through the windshield at the suspect's fleeing figure. At the sa ti, he heard Angela fire.

Watching the suspect, Selby, stagger a few steps and disappear into the street, Jack and Angela got out of the car and began the pursuit on foot.

Turning a corner, they found Nolan confronting Selby on the pedestrian path of a nearby park.

Selby had discarded his empty M4A1 and was now holding a Browning M1911 to the head of a female passerby. Seeing that his attention was completely drawn to Nolan, Angela gestured for Jack to follow her.

The two moved to the right, where several tall palm trees blocked their view. Selby was agitated, sotis pressing his pistol against the hostage's head, sotis pointing it at Nolan, while Nolan was using his persuasive skills to try to convince him to put down his weapon.

Angela turned to Jack and asked in a low voice, "Are you sure you can him in one shot?"

Jack understood imdiately, pressed his M16 against his shoulder, and replied in a deep voice, "We're less than 20 ters away now, a headshot is definitely no problem."

Angela also set up her gun, her voice cold: "Shoot when he points at Nolan again. I'll aim fot the hand, you go for the head. Be careful with the angle, don't accidentally hit the hostage."

Before the words were even finished, Selby's M1911 was pointed at Nolan again. Simultaneously, gunshots rang out, and two bullets fired.

A cloud of blood erupted from Selby's head and wrist, and he collapsed to the ground. Amidst the screams of the female passerby, the three rushed forward.

John considerately shielded the body with his own, helped the woman aside, and gently comforted her. Angela kicked the pistol away, while Jack, suppressing his discomfort, stared at the corpse.

Selby's wrist holding the gun was severed, with only a thin strip of skin connecting his right hand. Half his skull was ripped open, scattering brain matter everywhere.

The power of rifle bullets in the real world wasn't as weak as depicted in movies. Jack desperately suppressed his urge to vomit, preventing himself from looking away.

He needed to rember this scene; it was a necessary process of adaptation. Such scenes would likely occur many, many tis in the future. This wasn't the peaceful world he once knew; he had to be ruthless when facing criminals.

Noticing Jack's unusual behavior, Angela pushed him aside, looked him straight in the eye, and asked loudly, "Rookie, are you alright?"

Jack forced a stiff smile, revealing a bitter grin. "I'm fine, don't worry. Since I'm a cop, this was bound to happen sooner or later, wasn't it?"

Different people, different fates. Both involved in the sa case, Jack killed a suspect and received three days of administrative leave and psychological counseling arranged by the police station, while Nolan, in his haste to rescue Lucy and Tim, abandoned his training officer, Officer Bishop, to deal with Selby's accomplices alone, nearly resulting in Lucy being ambushed by the suspect.

When Commander Gray learned of this afterward, he was furious and, if it weren't for Zoe's intervention, would have almost kicked Nolan out of the police station.

"Nolan is a top student who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and worked as a construction contractor for twenty years. Anyone with eyes can see that his abilities are beyond question, and his police academy grades were also excellent. I really don't understand where Commander Gray's prejudice against him cos from."

After their intense intercourse, Jack embraced the limp Zoe, one hand tapping on her smooth, round buttocks, and chatted about the day's events.

"Ugh, it tickles so much."

Zoe giggled and swatted away his mischievous hand, then pondered for a mont before tilting her head back.

"I insisted on recruiting Nolan and you because I value your personalities and hoped to bring so changes to the Wilshire Police Departnt. As for Commander Gray, he probably saw another side of himself in Nolan, which subconsciously created a sense of resistance."

"I heard that Commander Gray has actually served for 20 years and is eligible for a full retirent pension. His family also hopes he can retire early, but seeing how energetic he is every day, Commander Gray is actually experiencing his own unique midlife crisis. No wonder."

Jack finished speaking to himself, then suddenly realized.
