Nyla Harper asked, "Can we confirm that only Corey Valance's accomplice remains among the terrorists attempting the attack?"
"No." Zoe shook her head.
"There's at least one more. There's CCTV footage of soone going to the station to et them."
"Alright." Commander Gray prepared to end the eting.
"This case is extrely sensitive. We absolutely cannot risk leaking information and causing public panic. That being said, everyone here can imdiately notify their families and stay away from densely populated areas, but no details can be revealed."
"Understood? Very good, let's begin the operation."
All the officers present breathed a sigh of relief. No one here was a fool. Being allowed to notify their families was a prerequisite for working with the FBI. This must have been negotiated by their two superiors for everyone present, so they all took out their phones to make calls.
Watching their colleagues talking to their families, Nolan and Jack, who were alone in the area, looked at each other. Jack thought for a mont, then took out his phone and called the Hunters, instructing them to stay ho as much as possible and not go out.
Perhaps the detective couple still had many old friends at the police station, but what if soone forgot about them?
After a flurry of activity, all the patrol officers sprang into action, and Jack drove Angela out of the station in his patrol car.
Seeing Angela hesitating, phone in hand, Jack casually asked, "What? Not planning to let Wesley know?"
This bickering couple, though currently on the fringes of their relationship, were definitely going to be together, so it was better to remind them.
Angela frowned. "I want to call him, but I can't guarantee he'll keep quiet. You know his personality…"
Jack, thinking of her lawyer boyfriend who was always spouting about civil liberties, felt a headache coming on and started offering so bad advice.
"Why don't you just text him and find out where he is? We can go and arrest him and lock him in the trunk. Otherwise, if sothing happens later, you'll feel guilty to death."
Angela glared at him with her big eyes, then sighed helplessly after a while, typing on her phone as she muttered to herself.
"We were supposed to have dinner together tonight."
Angela's phone buzzed with a new ssage. Jack glanced at it and grinned.
"It's on our way, let him co find us."
Twenty minutes later, Jack and Angela had just left the house of one of the people under investigation when Wesley's car pulled up in front of them and waved.
"Hey, what's going on? I see police everywhere."
Angela went up to her boyfriend to talk.
"I have so news to tell you, but you must promise not to leak it or tell anyone."
Wesley shrugged, his tone relaxed: "No problem."
"We are trying to stop a bio-terrorist attack. You need to leave the city imdiately, or stay away from densely populated areas, is that alright?"
The rich second-generation lawyer's face changed drastically: "No, that's wrong. Why aren't you police issuing ergency evacuation notices? People have the right to know they are in danger."
Angela looked at Jack speechlessly, with an expression that said, 'I knew it.' Jack could only roll his eyes, thinking to himself, 'Who told you to pick this naive and innocent puppy?'
"And then cause hundreds of thousands of people to flee in panic? Let the terrorists escape in the chaos, and then reorganize without our knowledge?" Angela was still trying to reason with her boyfriend.
"Arresting criminals is your job as police officers, but the public has the right to know." Wesley began to cite legal provisions.
Jack shrugged, indicating that he might as well just lock this guy in the trunk.
"That's why I've been hesitant to tell you the reason. I knew you would say this. If it weren't for Jack's persuasion," Angela said, taking her boyfriend's phone and handing it to Jack, then pulling him out of the car like a chicken and handcuffing him.
"Huh? You're really going to arrest him?" Jack didn't expect this woman to be so decisive.
"I'm now arresting you. You have the right to remain silent."
Wesley looked surprised: "What charge?"
"Attempted to disturb public order. Stay in the back." Angela shoved him into the back seat of the police car.
"Your argunt won't hold up in court!"
"No need for court. Just keep you out of contact with the outside world and spouting nonsense until we resolve the issue. Unless, of course, you're planning to sue ."
Angela glared at Wesley, their noses almost touching.
"That's more like a man. That hesitant look earlier really bothered ."
Jack, who had been spouting nonsense, was playfully kicked by Angela. He chuckled and got into the driver's seat, driving the police car to the next suspect's address.
The afternoon arrived quickly, and the two, having found nothing, received a ssage from command center: one good news and one bad.
The good news was that Nolan, with his protagonist's aura, had found a clue. A bus passenger they questioned had been sitting in front of the deceased Corey Valance and his accomplice, and a selfie on his phone revealed the accomplice's identity.
Jimmy Ruskin, 31, was arrested eight months ago for a hate cri but not charged. The identity of the local man who ca to pick him up is still unknown. He was driving a blue BMW with stolen license plates. Based on traffic surveillance footage, the FBI has temporarily narrowed the suspect's location to a residential area.
Patrol officers, including Jack and Angela, will be deployed to the area to conduct searches.
The bad news is dire: when Tim and Lucy went to investigate a bus passenger, they discovered that the passenger had mistakenly taken the deceased's travel bag.
While checking the bag, the passenger accidentally broke a test tube and cut his finger, becoming the first infected person.
When Tim entered the passenger's bedroom to check the bag, he realized sothing was wrong and promptly locked Lucy out.
Dr. Morgan from the CDC has arrived with his team and quarantined the entire house, but unfortunately, the infected person has begun to show symptoms and is on the verge of death. Tim's face is stained with the blood the person spat out, and the vaccine is still in transit, not expected to land for over an hour.
After summarizing the information, the command center reported on the investigation's progress again. It was now certain that the terrorists had taken a double precaution: Jimmy Ruskin, an accomplice of the deceased Corey Valance, was carrying another virus package.
He had already t with his local accomplices and could potentially use atomizers to spread the virus in crowded areas at any ti, launching a terrorist attack. Keep in mind that it was just before Christmas, and any large supermarket or shopping mall would be packed with people.
