The atmosphere inside the car was sowhat heavy. Wesley, who had been chattering in the back seat, had fallen silent. Although he and Tim were only nodding acquaintances, after listening to the radio communication, he clearly understood the seriousness of the situation. The three in the car lost their interest in talking.

Jack was a bit of a headache. If Tim was infected, such a high-level infectious disease would definitely lead to strict isolation. He couldn't think of any way to approach Tim and perform healing magic.

Slapping his forehead, Jack gave up on his wild thoughts. As one of the main characters, Tim shouldn't be so easily killed. Instead of worrying unnecessarily, he should deal with the imdiate problem first.

However, the investigation wasn't going smoothly. There were still a few days until the Christmas holidays, and it was already afternoon; most residents in the residential area were at work. They knocked on doors until after 5 pm, but to no avail.

Jack bought three cups of coffee, handed one to Wesley in the back seat of the police car, and had only rested for less than 10 minutes when Nolan's call ca through the walkie-talkie.

Nolan, whose luck seed to be working exceptionally well today, managed to find the suspect's car by asking holess people in the neighborhood park, pinpointing the exact address: a yellow apartnt building.

When the two arrived, Nolan and Nyla Harper had already raided the small apartnt. It was empty. Nolan found the owner's na among a stack of bills — Brendan Michelle.

While they were confirming the identity of the second terrorist with command center, Jack entered the living room, looking around. A desk stood by the window, ssy with scattered scraps of paper.

This was a ready-made clue. He casually pieced together a few scraps; it was a forged TSA badge, bearing the letters LAX — the code for Los Angeles International Airport.

"Guys, I think we've found the terrorist's target."

The rest was relatively simple. DHS imdiately shut down Los Angeles International Airport, and the FBI coordinated all available police resources in the city, deploying them to southern Los Angeles to set up roadblocks on the main roads leading to the airport to intercept the suspect's blue BMW with the fake license plates.

"The CDC has sent the vaccine to Tim. The rest depends on whether we can intercept the terrorists in ti. Although DHS has temporarily closed LAX, with Christmas approaching, there are at least tens of thousands of travelers stranded there trying to get ho," Commander Gray reported over the public communication channel.

Jack scratched his head, looking at the highway congested due to rush hour and police checkpoints, and recalled a joke about robbing a bank from his past life. He picked up the walkie-talkie and voiced his question.

"Since these terrorists planned so ticulously, even taking double precautions to transport the virus, I don't think they'd have overlooked the traffic during Los Angeles' evening rush hour, would they?"

Commander Grey quickly replied, "The deploynt isn't led by the LAPD; we're only responsible for execution, including myself."

Nolan, who had already killed several people, also supported Jack's view: "Simply closing the highway has loopholes. Even I, who's only been in LA for six months, know that there's a side road behind LaSeneca that leads directly to the airport."

The communication channel fell silent for a mont, but Commander Grey's voice soon rang out again: "Then we'll do as you say. Command center, this is 7-L-20. Please indicate that Wilshire Precinct officers are rerouted to LaSeneca Avenue, and reroute the helicopters. Keep an eye out for the blue BMW."

About ten minutes later, the helicopter in the sky brought good news: "Attention, a suspect vehicle has been spotted on Sandinella Road, heading south towards LaSeneca Avenue, California license plate V5BU9F7."

Angela and Jack exchanged a glance; it was indeed the blue BMW with the fake license plate that the suspects were driving.

Soon, sirens blared in the distance, and Nyla Harper's voice ca over the public channel: "Command Center, patrol car 7-A-15 is pursuing the suspect."

As Jack floored the accelerator, flashing red and blue police lights appeared ahead — Nolan and Nyla's police car.

Angela picked up the radio and called out, "7-A-26, rendezvous and join the chase."

As the car accelerated, Wesley, the lawyer in the back seat, paled slightly. "You're serious about keeping locked up in a police car at a ti like this?"

Angela turned and smiled. "You're the one who wanted to spend the night with , and now you regret dating a cop?"

She pulled out the handcuff key and tossed it to the back seat. "If there's a shootout, get to the back of the car imdiately. We might not be able to help you."

Wesley trembled for a while before managing to unlock his handcuffs, his face deathly pale. Just as he was about to speak, Jack, who had already sped up to 100 km/h, shouted, silencing him.

"Hold on tight, the last gas station before the airport is ahead. We need to catch up as quickly as possible."

The police helicopter's report ca through the communication channel: "Attention all personnel, Aircrew One has disengaged from the pursuit. The suspect vehicle has entered the airport's no-fly zone."

Jack's driving skills were now at the proficient level, roughly equivalent to Nolan's. However, while Nolan could drive a large truck, his environntal awareness and reaction ti were far inferior to Jack's.

Moreover, although both had received basic PIT training, neither had ever used it in real combat. This was where the system's skill enhancents beca apparent.

With a high-speed drift around a corner, even with an extra person in the car, Jack and Angela's patrol car still overtook Nolan's. Jack grabbed the walkie-talkie and gripped it on the steering wheel, shouting, "7-A-26 requesting a PIT. We're approaching the airport, we don't have much ti."

After all, this wasn't Arkansas, known for its tough-guy culture. California's procedures for police PITs are usually very strict, with PITs strictly prohibited in urban areas. Patrol officers like Jack, who usually patrol the city, rarely have the opportunity to perform PIT maneuvers on suspect vehicles.

"Agreed, but don't force it. There's a virus in the other car," Commander Gray's voice ca through the channel. They had just left the congested area and were still nearly a kiloter away from the two patrol cars.

"Wesley, be careful. The back seat is bulletproof. If there's a firefight, don't run around. The back is the safest spot."

Jack added a final reminder, not because he wanted to drag civilians into dangerous operations, but because letting Wesley experience Angela's daily police life would be a test of their relationship. Angela clearly had her own ideas, and he didn't want to interfere.

The police car accelerated. Wilshire Precinct was considered one of the more luxurious precincts in the LAPD. In the past few months, their police cars had all been upgraded to the latest Ford Explorers, retaining the police's favorite V6 engine and featuring reinforced bumpers specifically for PIT maneuvers.
