"Command Center, this is patrol car 7-A-26 escorting a CDC ambulance to Church morial Hospital, heading east on Grand South Avenue. Requesting clearance."

Jack called command center on his walkie-talkie, siren blaring. His patrol car led the way, Nolan followed closely behind, with the ambulance close behind.

Command Center quickly replied: "7-A-26 received. Highway Patrol is on its way to assist."

Escorted by two patrol cars, the CDC ambulance traveled at an average speed of approximately 120 kiloters per hour, arriving at the Church Hospital entrance in just 8 minutes.

"Hey, can you co and give a hand?" Nolan called out to the paradics in the hospital's ergency lane.

Jack got out of his car and quickly walked around to the back of the ambulance, reaching out to open the rear door to see if he could touch Tim, when he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine and heard Nolan's distorted shout.

"A gunman!"

Before Jack could turn around, he heard gunfire erupt behind him. A burst of bullets grazed his shoulder and struck the back door of the ambulance, leaving a row of bullet holes.

"Damn it, is this never going to end?" Already sowhat agitated, Jack didn't flinch but abruptly turned around. He saw a white woman wielding an M4 carbine, using a stone pillar to the right of the hospital's main entrance as cover, firing at the ambulance and two police cars.

Nolan, Nyla, and Angela reacted quickly, imdiately using their Glocks to return fire from the police cars, sending stone chips flying. The female gunman was forced to duck back behind the pillar.

"Fuck you, you bitch!"

Jack angrily discovered that the two paradics who had just run out of the ergency exit lay in pools of blood. The thin sheet tal of the ambulance's back door certainly couldn't withstand 5.56 standard rifle rounds; the fate of the people inside was unknown.

He drew his Glock from his waist with his left hand and pulled a Python revolver from its holster under his arm with his right, pointing both at the female gunman as he walked towards the pillar where she was hiding without flinching.

Lucy crawled out of the side door of the ambulance, only to be blocked by Jack's line of fire, and quickly shouted a warning.

"Jack, I'm behind you."

Jack ignored her and continued striding forward.

"Co out! Your accomplice was the one I killed on the bus. If you want revenge, co out."

It was obvious to anyone that this female gunman was probably an accomplice of the two terrorists from earlier, but it was unclear why she hadn't directly participated in the attack.

Now that she was here, she was either trying to rescue her accomplice who had been brought here earlier, or she was seeking revenge on the police, or perhaps both.

"Jack, what are you doing? Watch out!" Nolan and his two companions stopped firing as Jack approached their firing range. Their original firing angle was already poor; behind the stone pillar used by the suspect as cover was the hospital interior separated by a glass curtain wall, and a stray bullet could easily injure civilians inside.

Jack moved with incredible speed, reaching the stone pillar in a few strides. The female gunman, hearing Nolan and his companions' shouts and hearing the approaching footsteps, sensed sothing was wrong and tried to point her M4 at him, but was forced back to hide by his rapid, unleashed fire from both sides.

Discarding his two empty pistols, Jack lunged forward, grabbed the gun barrel the female gunman couldn't retract in ti, and yanked her out from behind the stone pillar.

The scalding barrel burned his left hand, and the excruciating pain further aggravated Jack's nerves. He swung his head down and delivered a brutal headbutt, leaving her face bruised and battered. Then, grabbing her right hand, which was still clutching the M4, he twisted it forcefully, dislocating her wrist.

The M4 fell to the ground, but Jack had no intention of letting her go. He grabbed her collar and headbutted her several tis until she collapsed to the ground.

"Damn it, attacking civilians, you bastard, you beast, you son of a bitch!"

Nolan and Angela rushed forward, each grabbing Jack's arms tightly. They had never imagined that this guy, who always had a smile on his face, could be so out of control, and they were worried that he would lose his mind and continue to attack the unconscious suspect.

"She's fine. If I really wanted her dead, I would have shattered her Adam's apple with the first shot." Jack waved his hand, indicating that he was alright. Only when he saw Nyla Harper handcuffing the female gunman did he belatedly turn around and look at the ambulance. He saw Tim standing at the back door, holding a gun, staring blankly in their direction.

Jack wiped the blood from his forehead. He only had a minor cut, which showed that his physical attributes had indeed greatly increased his bone strength. Most of the blood ca from the female gunman; she was basically disfigured.

"Are you crazy? You're going to get yourself into trouble." Angela glanced uneasily at the patients and dical staff pouring out of the hospital. Many people, seeing that it was safe, were taking pictures with their phones.

Although terrorists have no human rights in Arica, in public, who knows if soone might maliciously edit the footage and post it online with a headline like "LAPD Maliciously Treats Female Suspect"?

Jack didn't have ti to think about that. He wouldn't act so impulsively with an ordinary suspect, but this was a hospital. If the female gunman completely disregarded her own life and turned her gun on the inside of the hospital behind the glass curtain wall, who knows how many people would die.

Besides, the dia environnt in this world wasn't as disgusting as in his previous life; at least the LAPD's public relations departnt was relatively effective.

He kicked the M4 on the ground, which had two 30-round high-capacity magazines stuck together, wrapped with duct tape.

Nyla Harper pulled the female gunman, who was vomiting from a severe concussion, up from the ground, pulled three more magazines from her lower back, and threw them on the ground.

"Jack did the right thing. I don't think she ca to rescue her companions, but to commit a massacre. It's just lucky she ran into us."

Tim, still pale, walked closer and saw the magazines taped together. He nodded and said, "That's right. She must have received specialized military training. This is a common thod used by soldiers who have been in combat to facilitate quick reloading."

Jack looked at him and asked, "Are you alright? Is anyone injured in the ambulance?"

Tim shook his head. "Dr. Morgan had so abrasions, but everyone else is fine."

At this mont, the backup police arrived late. Commander Grey, his face ashen, got out of the car and grabbed a DHS agent, starting to yell at him.

The others overheard the gist of what was said. It seed that DHS had obtained intelligence during their investigation of the first victim, knowing that this female gunman might exist, but they hadn't fully shared the intelligence with the LAPD, or even with the FBI.

The others' gazes towards DHS also turned hostile. Although knowing this intelligence didn't necessarily an they would guess that the other party would attack the hospital, at this mont, who had a better scapegoat than them?

After all, the conflict between the federal police system and the state police systems is quite serious; it's not as simple as the public believes that the DHS or the FBI can completely crush local police.

In this terrorist attack case, the LAPD's Wilshire Field Office deserves MVP honors, and the CDC and the FBI should also share a significant portion of the credit. Soone has to take the bla; the grievances of officers risking their lives on the front lines need an outlet, and the DHS has to dutifully shoulder the responsibility.

Of course, what follows is a power struggle among the higher-ups, unrelated to the patrol officers. They can just wait for promotions and raises. Nolan and Lucy will probably soon shed their rookie status and might even get a dal.
